Because there is no Hawaii board, and the “other cities” board has about ten readers, I decided to post this on the General Board. I think it does have General interest and hope the mods leave it.
I can't post the link, because the news story “outs” personal names. If anyone wants to read the actual story, PM me for the link. Here is a summary and my coments.
An agency in Hawaii has apparently shut down after an “investigative” news story was published. A “journalist” set up a date, and showed up at the incall location, talked to the escort for a few minutes, left her $50, then published a story, outing the agency, the madam, and the owner of the condo. The owner is a university professor, so the main story it seems, is to out and embarrass him. Of course he claims to know nothing about an escort agency run out of his home. Anyway the agency's ads and websites were down right after the story was published.
This was a reputable agency. They have been around for 10 years, and the madam had another agency prior to that one. Many of the current and former ladies that worked there have reviews here on TER. Some of the former agency ladies have gone on to be independent. Some visiting independents, have actually used that agency for bookings and incall location.
The interesting thing, is this was all due to a news story, and had nothing to do with the police. This is what the police actually had to say about it: “Two officers familiar with escort service investigations said bringing prostitution charges against them is difficult. The services are able to pre-screen customers and are well versed in the fine points of the law, they said. The websites offer what is referred to as a “GFE” (girl friend experience) and use code words such as “roses” when referring to cash payments, the officers said.”
The story was in a small, hardly read newspaper, but the big papers and tv news stations all picked it up. (probably because of the professor angle)
In fact there was a story recently about a couple college professors busted running an agency.(I believe it was in the southwest somewhere--maybe Arizona) But in this case, I think the guy was either a silent partner or just collecting rent (and maybe some freebies) He was the owner of the condo, and claims he kew nothing about an escort agency being run there. That is hard to believe but on the other hand, he is an academic type, and sometimes those guys with a lot of book smarts, have little common sense, and can have things going on under their noses and have no clue. So while I highly doubt he was clueless, it is definitley possible.
Might not know anything. Many landlords check employment, they call so they have no idea who they are talking to which might be the case here. They want their rent and as long as they get that , and see no crimes on the tenants part, with good rental history , again via phone call many times a landlord has no clue what is going on . And I'd say no homeowner would want to be called out on something like that and risk taking a great loss in property.
“Two officers familiar with escort service investigations said bringing prostitution charges against them is difficult. The services are able to pre-screen customers and are well versed in the fine points of the law,"
If they can't figure out how to get past pre-screening for someone they really want to bust, they aren't doing their job.
You could be right. Obviously there ae a lot of landlords who just collect rent and never see their tenants, or their property, or know what goes on there. However I do think this is not exactly the case here. Some things in the actual article make me think that if he wasn't involved, he at least knew. But then again, I am just speculating. Of course for me, I could care less if he was involved or not. I think the whole thing is sad. I have never used the agency myself, but from other boards I belong to, I know a lot about it. I have heard only good things about it. There was no trafficing. Girls were free to come and go. Many had gone on to independent careers as I said earlier. Most of the girls gave good service. The ones that didn't, did not last long. Druggies were fired. Many hobbyists here had high praise for the agency. Now they are shut down and some professor may lose his job (and even if not, he will lose respect and face public ridicule). and all this because of a story in an underground type newspaper. The cops don't even care. maybe like mrfisher said, ladies will have to start screening for press.
"they are not doing their job." Well that's a good thing for us. Maybe they got more important things to do than shut down some escort agency. I am happy to hear the cops can't be bothered with it. But for some reason, the newspaper took it upon themselves to "expose" and shut down the agency.
obviously the investigative reporter was hurting for a story. Who knows how he knew but if he did this on his own , with police as his backup he is one sick fuck excuse me . See, he was a little too familiar with a 50 dollar cancellation fee. I did not read anything about the scheduler telling him about that one. I say he is a member somewhere and was doing this for either a story , or to clear something that happened to him . But that guy was just tooo smooth and knew just what to do.
I kind of agree. The reporter (or whoever set him up to do the report) is either a hobbyist, or at least did a lot of research on some hobby sites. (to get by screening, and to know about cancellation fees etc.) And yes, either they really wanted to break a story, or maybe someone had an issue with the agency or the professor, and wanted vengeance. Or, maybe someone figured out what was going on in the condo, and found out who owned it and just wanted to out the professor. It really does not seem like the police had anything to do with it at all (or if they even cared).
I suspect the madam and the escorts will lay low for a while then pop back again with a new name and new location. The professor on the other hand is probably in deep trouble whether he really was involved or not. While it would probably take a conviction (which is not likely based on the police attitude) to legally fire him, people in those types of positions (professors, deans, coaches, politicians) have been coerced to resign or take early retirement for things like being seen in a strip club, or being at the wrong party. So just having his name and face out in the news even possibly involved with this, could cost him his career, or at the very least a lot of repair work and pr to salvage it.
And yes, the reporter and the newspaper he works for are scum. (not the professor or the escort agency) Of course that is the opinion and attitude of an avid hobbyist, not the general public, unfortunately.
When the guy walked in, right past me (no hug or friendly greeting) & sat down.....he waited patiently til I came over to him & then he stopps me before I touch him ( I look around & he hasn't brought any roses or anything for me I gues cuz I don't charge a cancellation fee) & asked what does the session include? Totally caught off gaurd (he still hasn't touched me is sitting in the chair not the couch or the bed & he hasn't let me touch him) so I can only reply "a fun time, nothing illegal". He says "I thought full service is suppose to be sex" I could only reply well, I think you outta leave my ad doesn't say anything about fs. he sits there & says my ad doesn't say it's not full service.......I was really shocked, my ad does say, "this ad doesn't imply any illegal service will be performed" but ummmm roses do make a different, lol......
