testing helps!

I saw a thread below and someone said something like newbie providers and clients have an exaggerated fear of germs in this hobby.  I think that is likely true.  I was very afraid of contracting an STD if I partook in the hobby.  Now, after my civie life in college and before marriage, and almost 100 women in the hobby later, I continue to test negative for everything you can get tested for.  Have been fastidious about suiting up for each encounter, but I do partake in "unprotected" oral sex, giving and receiving.
Why the alias?  For me, I don't want others to know what a slut I've been in the last 5 years.  I posted about 30 reviews and then really slowed down on that end to avoid the appearance of . . .  well what I am!  Whatever.
I'm curious to know the experience of others.  IF you play "safe", it seems you can dodge bringing home unwanted guests.  Anyone have any opinions based on personal experience?  I'm not interested in the latest CDC statistics.  I can read those, and have.  I'm interested in hearing how other guys and girls have evolved in their level of "fear" of STDs in this hobby.

On the other hand, I got 3 STDs ( All very curable thank God ) from about 10 civies I had seen early on.

I'm as careful as I can be, given the parameters of GFE - protected sex, unprotected oral, DFK, etc.

While I've been fortunate so far, I'm very careful not to get complacent. I've seen that 'It can't happen to me' attitude from others in the hobby...

A few times, things have hit WAY too close to home. One client of mine came down w/chlamydia. He did let me know right away, as I'd just recently been with him. He was someone I'd progressively grown more and more nervous to see, just due to his enormous volume of hobbying, escalating degree of attraction to extreme fetishes, and VERY rough sex. So even though he'd been considerate enough to tell me about the chlamydia - and swore up and down that it was a wake-up call - I just couldn't bring myself to see him again. It was at least a wake-up call for ME, if not for him.

Around 2012, a very popular girl from DC w/pages of TER reviews quit the business. Her reason was that she had contracted HIV. Thing was, I'd seen one of her reviewers...on his profile page, her name was just TWO spaces below my own. That scared the sh** out of me enough that I took my site down for a few weeks, and barely advertised for months afterward.

Anecdotally, I've heard some other things about providers/clients...but, of course those are rumors thus unverifiable. However, I've seen some grave risks undertaken with extreme ignorance, complacency, and stupidity. So I do believe that it's more dangerous out there than most of us would like to think.

But I don't know if it would be reasonable to expect that a poll would yield accurate statistics.

Ten years, a couple hundred women, same as the OP with safe play but unprotected oral, and zero std's. Yeah, I was nervous about them for the first year or so, and then I started getting tested. After a few years with no bad results I rarely think about it any more.

I'm over 50 so old age will kill me before AIDS possibly can at this point.

After about six months in the hobby and around 100 guys I got herpes.  I'm pretty sure I know who I got it from and it was a case of both of us looking at this spot on him and thinking it was probably nothing, but it turned out it wasn't.  So I think I got it from him.  I get tested every six months and was always clean before that.

Anyhoo, life goes on.  There's actually a whole segment of dating sites devoted to H people as we're called.  I'm just lucky it wasn't something worse, the other H - ugh.

I use my regular Dr and try for quarterly, but my insurance can give me the too soon routine. That only happened once in three years. I think the blood and urine cover 12 STDs except for herpes which is separate from the "panel" However, they do a rapid HIV test that gets the results before you leave. My Dr. Knows I'm a slut.

It's not the girl.. It's the guy who spreads.
Look it up! The numbers are crazy..
You have half the chance of catching anything from a woman as she has to you.
For all you know. You may have raw dogged a girl in college who had HIV, but never caught it.

Guys. Planned parenthood offers free Rapid HIV testing. All the others are paid I think. If you wanna be discrete about your testing. I recommend talent testing. they follow the industry standard for testing. It's fast, affordable, and there's probably a clinic near you that offers their services. Stay safe boys and gals.

that is based less on the actual health risks of the infection or the probability of contracting one than on the social/societal stigma and fear of discovery (illicit activity, cheating, slut-shaming, etc.) associated with having an "STD".

I think with a bit more experience and maturity, we manage to get over or resolve many of those internal conflicts and can be more rational and realistic about our chosen activities and their associated risks.

Life is risk, longevity is the result of minimizing and managing risk effectively.

I think we all know that we should get every vaccine available, keep it wrapped (at least for the main event) and get tested regularly. Or abstain

That is those who succumbed to the Scare Tactic by the Power-That-Be.

Over twenty years ago when first started I too was deathly afraid so did the safest thing possible: go to Nevada brothels. That is because in those days before condoms were widely used the prostitutes have all been licensed and checked regularly by the state of Nevada. Hey if the govt sanctioned it surely it must have been pretty well vetted!

As time goes by I started to get bolder and bolder because NOTHING ever happened to me. Don't listen or read what you are ALLOWED to listen or read. They are all PROPAGANDA to scare you into behaving the way they want you to behave. Instead take into account your personal experience and real life observation to intelligently and logically deduct into your conclusion.

I've been in certain infamous now-defunct web site from the beginning until it was shut down and despite of the proliferation of all kinds of wild sex only a few times in the 10+ years did I heard scant rumor of somebody catching something and not once directly from a source

My very first time getting all the way to home base was with a civvie friend that had become my friend+, friend++ and beyond. She told me that she had a history of promiscuity. A few days after my first ever home run I was on the disabled list with a (thankfully) medically minor but painful irritation that soon cleared up. For completely unrelated reasons, the relationship didn't last. ;-(

My TER encounters, well over 100, all covered, have been uneventful and I've had no more time on the disabled list

i was surfing online and was checking some ads and reviews somehow i ended reading on a mature providers ad. and it says shes got the virus of  HSV2+ herpes, and i was a little shocked and the thing is that i tried to meet with her before i sent some email and somehow our schedule never worked up, but i'm glad it din't i mean its sad and somehow i feel bad, but also i thank her for telling the truth and been honest that you have the virus and let other people know its risky of contagion even with protection, i wish her the best,,.. and i am just glad i dont see a lot of providers,
but in other hand what about the guy whom she get it from!!  they are probably out there meeting new providers just be careful out there, be safe and if you have the virus just provider or client, be honest and tell the truth to others dont just meet with people and give them the virus,,. also try to get help you are not alone,,,

Every three months or every four partners which ever comes fist. I get tested by my doctor two times a year and the other times I pay for myself at a STD clinic. You can get tested every week if you willing to cough up the cash.

I am not sure of my exact number but its a little over 200 in the past 9 years, all experiences were GFE and a few PSE. Tested negative for everything *knock on wood*, but it does not mean I am any less vigilant. I have slowed down in that I spend much more time with my favorite provider rather than lots of smaller engagements with different people, so the number of new providers I am seeing has taken a nosedive, and for 2015 there will likely be no new faces.

Though its not technically an STD, I did one catch strep throat on one of my trips in 2008. I contacted the 4 women I had seen during that week and none of them got it, so I don't really definitively know if one of them gave it to me or if I caught it travelling.

Getting tested at 175$ per full panel, and getting blood drawned with a needle every week, I'd say you increase your chances or contracting something by letting someone stick a needle on you weekly than practicing safe sex. There's a lot of incompetence in those clinics sometimes. Just take the industry standard precautions when having sex, and you will be just fine. 😊️

I've been playing in this hobby for slightly more than a year now and I've been tested twice.  The first time by a respected Urgent Care clinic and the second time by my regular doctor at my annual physical.  I'm pretty sure if you want to be tested for everything under the sun you need to give blood and pee and then results are usually ready in about a week ( at least this is how it went down for me).

Odds are long but it happened.

Herpes is common and can get around a condom. I know several who have it. 20% of adult males have it and 25% of females. I am talking genital herpes or HSV II. You fooling yourself if you think she is fear mongering. It can spread even when the carrier is asymptomatic.

The good news with proper antiviral drugs and safe sex practices the odds of spreading it is remote. Even with no antiviral treatment it is usually only catchy on average about 20 to 40 days a year and condoms do offer some protection if it covers the infection site.

Any rate I doubt it is bullshit.

PS. I do not have genital herpes or type 2 but I and 80% of people have oral herpes or type 1. Please note you can have oral herpes in the mouth, genital, eyes, ears, nose, anally, and really anywhere and not just the mouth, and genital herpes can infect any of those places.

Not too mention I even my best guess might be off by a thousand or more, but in 40+ years of sexual activity the worst thing I ever caught was a case of the crabs back in the 80's. I think my mix of hookers to civvies is probably about 85% hookers lifetime, with my current level at well over 90% hookers to less than 10% civvies as I get older and it gets harder and harder to find hotties that will fuck me for free.

I did smell the coffee and it smells like bullshit - this time. A provider told not too long ago that she won't see someone if she sees anything that looks like it might be a STD. She specifically said that they all say it's "just a skin tag, or shaving rash," but she is not willing to take that chance because she's not a Doctor and her livelihood depends on her being healthy. She said that she sees a lot of suspicious "shit" as it's common among clients to have lesions or warts. I couldn't believe that someone with a STD would knowingly expose someone else. She said that some people don't have a high opinion about escorts to begin with and they just dont care.

So I find it difficult to believe that she saw something that concerned her, but she determined it was nothing and continued on with the session anyway - BULLFUCKINGSHIT!

Also this person is trying to give the impression that they are an active escort with herpes.  The only thing missing is the bible references that we are all going to hell. Well, except for Mr. Fisher ...

I know providers see lots of things and that's scary as shit to me, but I don't think too many providers put their self at risk. Cream with two sugars hun. Thanks

Given how rare that is to get it receiving oral sex I had to ask. It made more sense if you were giving oral so I had to ask. It wasn't my intent to upset you or cast aspersions on your manliness. Plenty of macho guys are "pole smokers" just ask Bigguy when he gets back.

You are delusional I'd you think sex workers have a lower percentage of infection then the general population? I don't especially given a great many have it and don't know it. Good news is with antiviral meds the risk of transferring it is low. And If you think every lady providing gives a fuck about her clients health, sorry that just isn't the case. Some ladies don't even test. Please note many if note most do care, but just like some client some just don't.
