I was in the Saint Louis Airport on Friday boarding a First Class Flight. I saw this Serviceman standing off to the side dressed in his full Army Attire. Sergeant to be exact. He seemed a little beaten down and was all by himself. I asked the ticketing personal if I could let him board before me, basically take my early boarding spot. (Come from a huge Military Family)

That goes without saying! I don't advertise it, but anytime I run into an active military
gentleman I just add it on... It may be an extra 30 minutes or something not really on my menu.
I come from a long line of  Air Force and Marines so I love to pamper them. They totally deserve it and are always so appreciative!!!

As I'm a vet myself.  But kudos to anyone that feels they should give military members a discount.  Personally I think it's distasteful for any vet/active duty member to ask for discounts when they are better off than the majority of the country.

Why? Because you will get scammers trying to lie about it, and unless you are active duty or have some sort of proof, I won't honor it. I've seen a ton of active duty guys who are easy to verify.  

But on the other hand that they are all heroes. Most had no options. the whole firefighter pension thing is a joke. You sign up and you know what you are getting. It's not like WW2 , Korea or Vietnam where you had no choice.

Afghan women who did what you do to American service men were shot in the heads by the Talibans.

 He was so appreciative and thanked me up and down. I told him "No thank you, because of men like yourself, I can be anything, do anything, wear anything I want in this Country." I was feeling so grateful that we have such a fabulous Military that is so ready when we need them. Especially when I see women still having to cover their heads in other Countries.  
   
 So here are my thoughts... what do you ladies think about starting a trend in the form of some sort of Military discount or added time given in a way of saying thanks for their service? I met an adorable young buck Marine about a month ago and told him I would add another hour as a way of saying thanks and he was thrilled. Even more thrilled when I followed through on my promise to him. Let me know your thoughts xoxo

That's the best way to go about it I think. Most off us have a dd214 and our ids still. I've seen people try to scam off of dog tags though and called them out because anybody can get those so don't just go off of them alone!

I've shown providers pictures of me in uniform on top of a howitzer. Is that enough proof for you that I'm a veteran? Or do I have to show you my VA id?

I am a military brat, father was Marine and Air Force, 20 years and actually fought in Korea.  I grew up around bases and still live next to a base.  You are aware most people in the service the last 20 years only join for GI bill, job training, etc.  Most never go overseas.  I could understand giving a discount to returning from deployment or combat veterans, but not some smuck who is already sucking off the govt tit.  I personally avoid doing business with any business/person who advertises such a discount to any serviceman, and that would include a provider.  I find it distasteful and disrespectful to the people who have actually fought, suffered or died

Others might not...can't speak for them. If you don't trust me with your info. don't ask me for any extras. Works both ways.

Who says I don't trust you? Maybe I'm just too lazy to pull out the paperwork and don't know exactly where it is...I was in the ROK in the early 90s. It's not like I have it right here in my wallet.

I would be a bit put off if someone just asked me for something extra. I guess I should have added if you find out they are in the Military. As far as people taking this too far, I agree, there is always that one person that has to try and take advantage.

 But I did have this thought about how much of a sacrifice you're making by giving them the extra hour:  
 Let's see, you're gorgeous, great at what you do (I read some or your reviews), enjoy what you do, you're in your early 30's  -- and you'd like to spend an extra hour having sex with chiseled young twenty-somethings who are horny and can probably recycle in 15 minutes or less.  Oh yeah, I'm sure that's really hard work for you.   (Teasing!!! In case you couldn't tell.)

I myself grew up in a Military Family and my view is one of gratitude. I will wash the feet of any Serviceman willing to lay his life down for this Country (provided he isn't a mean jerk) so that I can be a free woman. It sounds like you had a completely different experience growing up in the Military. I am thinking maybe disappointments/ letdowns? Idk, I just sense some hostility.  

I'd have to kind of agree. Each time I saw the casualty number or read about the injuries, my heart dropped. I have to say, I think there might be of a dicount or bonus for those who were in harms way.
Then I see the regular enlisted based around the world - Germany, Japan, Texas......and I have to wonder what is fair

agreed, and was my point as well. Every trick could spin some reason why he should get a discount. Many ride on the coattails of those that have earned that respect.  

employment verification you really can't get away with lying about something like that. And if you want that discount, you'd better be willing to be verified that way.  

think you kind of missed the point.  Yes, I respect the grunts that sign up for Marines, or Army Infanty with the ideal of defending the country.  Those guys are just a small percentage of the enlisted.  I also respect the older guys who got drafted or volunteered during WWII,  4 if my uncles (1 KIA) and my father.  However, one of my best friends has 3 kids that joined.  None of them intended to go and joked about what to sign up for to stay out.  All three never left California.  Like alot of other things, know how to play the system.

I believe you are mistaken about WWII, there were many volunteers but there was the draft.  The "draft" ended after Vietnam, the 70's.

Dude, you made a statement about "What if I am too lazy to go look for the paperwork" and I said, then don't bother asking for a discount. You're turning a lighthearted thread into bullshit, and it's a moot issue! I said if you don't have the fkin ID, you don't get the discount...end of story! I don't care what you do personally, but this is a thread about what providers offer to military guys and what we require to give that offer. Done deal!  

This is what I was trying to explain to the asshat above. If you want a discount, you provide the information we require to get it, or go fk yourself. It's the same thing with a sugar daddy type deal...want the cheaper rate, you pay UPFRONT at the beginning of the month. Don't want to pay upfront, you pay the high rate per date like everyone else.  

If they know about the special military offer in advance most should be able to bring their dd214 or ID.  I don't know how common it is to carry any of that with them.  I just bring out my paperwork when I was applying for a job or for some financial reports.  Either way,  it's nice to treat veterans ina positive way however we can. Some have been through so much.

Signing up is a choice. If they were forced(conscripted) then maybe. Yes they put their lives on the line but so do all first responders right here
