Years ago Vancouver, BC had some great classy and legal massage / spa / parlors, such as Madame Cleo’s, A Touch of Sweden (?).   I am finally planning to return and they all seem to be gone!
I’ve run across something that may have changed everything  called “C-36 “  but the blog references were limited to just after the late 2014 effective date and most claimed they didn’t know what the effect of the new laws would be.
Figuring I’ll get the straightest scoop from the TER boards,   can anyone fill me in on the current situation in British Columbia, Canada?  Are my dreams of a fun return trip dashed?     Thank you

That board is pretty dead but it still might be better than here on the GD

Try the Massage Parlor Board, too? And maybe In Search Of?

I don't think "Other Cities" (discussion) will help, eh?

Can you search "Massage" or "Massage Parlor" on the Vancouver AD board

So C-36 did pass last year and it drastically changed prostitution laws in Canada.  In the simplest form, prostitution and communicating or advertising for the purposes of prostitution are now illegal in Canada.  But here's the hook - the sex worker is largely immune from prosecution, because the law sees them as a victim, it's the client that is the true criminal.  And it is a criminal offence carrying prison terms of up to 10 years.

Having said that, many cities are simply not enforcing the new laws.  They refuse to police prostitution unless trafficking, underage workers, or pimping is a factor.  Vancouver is one of these cities.

The Vancouver spa/massage scene is alive and well.  I believe Madame Cleos closed years ago to reopen as a members-only club, but I'm not sure.  I think Swedish Touch is still open.  Their website is active

No FS, but most of anything up to that was on the menu.  They were right out in the open also, not holes in the wall
