Just curious... I'm in Atlanta and constantly hear how bad it is here because the market is over saturated, but my experience so far has been great

First off I think the Cities are fantastic!  I'm posting this based on what some other providers have told me.

I've visited a couple of touring providers recently in other major midwestern cities and they have said they would never visit the Cities  because they have heard people are "cheap" there and they can't make any $.  Living in the Cities I say BS!  The hobby is strong here, touring providers,  come up for a visit!

Many have said that it's just really hard to get bookings and pre-bookings, and the high fixed costs make it hard for providers to make the same kinda living they might have to be able to get just a few years ago.

There are lots of discounts and incentives being given behind the scenes.

you would think because of the great weather and large amounts of tourist money there..providers would be plentiful..the exact opposite is true..finding a sandy beach is much easier than finding an escort..

Many guys are on vacation with kids, wives etc.  Even single guys are going to beach, playing golf, fishing, biking, camping.

Florida, Texas, and So Cal are horrible markets for providers in summer.   Better choices are Twin Cities, Boston, DC, Chicago, and to a lesser extent NYC.   Bottom line is -  this economy has guys pinching pennies, many are out of work and many are worried about their current  jobs. Add the summer vacation time to the equation, and you have a mess for providers.

Want more biz?  No girl wants to hear it but..... run specials and reduce rates. It works.

You're right .Texas is not only slow but if you don't have rates of 100 per hour no one is interested lol!

One other state I have always felt was slow is Florida .Depends on the snow birds and is only real busy

during season .

Well actually your comment is correct. There are not a lot of escorts to be found. But why I said you are wrong is the way it pertains to the OP's question. She was asking about where are the bad markets for escorts due to oversaturation, etc. Honolulu is a good market for an escort to tour to because there isn't a lot of competition. Many of the ladies that do tour here come back repeatedly so they must be doing well during their visits. Some that originally plan a couple week trip end up staying a few months.

If a lady has built her business properly, has provided consistent service, then odds are she has a solid clientele base. Her income may shift a bit from month to month, but she should see a steady income regardless. It is not slow due to people being on vacation, trust me on this one.

My business rarely waivers significantly because I have a solid regular base and I'm flexible in terms of my offerings season to season - I never remain unoccupied long on principle, being fluid has allows me to remain stable.

However, all businesses experience cycles- and July and August are traditionally slower periods for most providers for the reasons that he cited.
That is a fact.  Obviously there are exceptions and top / touring providers are relatively insulated but for the majority of providers summer is the season to relax, replenish, get surgery (lol), charge up for the high season- September 1-January 1.

I've been in this business for 6 years and this is one thing that has held true annually.  Last August was the best month I've had in this business in those six years, but that was a fluke.   I try not to speak in generalities with authority but seriously,  every service and companion I know personally acknowledges the summer as being a quieter period and there is nothing wrong with saying that.

BTW:  I like your pics Kate, they're fantastic.

It's not rocket science and everyone over analyzes.  It's simple, as long as you provide excellent service, are a joy to be with, and are generous (yes, generosity goes both ways); then you will do well. Keep doing whatever it is you are doing, because obviously it is working.

Shoot, I have tried the Twin Cities 3 times in the last year, & each time, only ONE person has pre-booked... many ladies are not going to come to a new area & they have no pre-bookings, it is just not financially wise. I have given up on the Twin Cites, which sucks as it is only 4 hours from my home base. Chicago seems to be about the same as far as pre-bookings go... I might get 2, but that is not enough to actually take a chance on going there.

Hello Forum

This industry is a business and should be thought of and treated as such. Supply and Demand
has always been a rule in economics. Too much supply without the demand would cause prices to
decline. That's why in larger cities where supply out weighs demand, you'll find more providers
offering specials just to make ends meet. Cheap dates makes it hard for both hobbyist and providers.
I myself only see traveling providers with websites and reviews. It eliminates the cheap dates that
locals provide. This hurts providers because there are those among us that seeks the cheap thrill. So
those traveling providers can't seem to break into that local economy. However, in midsize to smaller
cities the demand is often high but the supply of traveling providers is low. There is still a supply of
locale cheap providers, but the demand is for traveling providers with good reputations, quality
service, and excellent reviews. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, just as long the supply meets
    the demand.

Man Cave you are right.  Also with respect to specials, in blue collar towns where the disposable income would be considerably less than in the major cities the providers probably are running specials quite as kept.  Also I am wondering as a general rule would escorts also post and travel to resorts and other summertime playground that would be well attended by single men and business types.  I am thinking would certain parts of Mexico and South America be good places to go for providers provided they got prebookings? Or because those places would be in the proximity of third world countries would they decline to travel to those spots although American's and other persons of European decent would frequent those places for vacation. A penny for your thoughts ladies?

As I said in another thread, high-end luxury will always be in demand.  If you're Louis Vuitton, then you will always find a buyer base.

It's the girls who are Coach instead of LV or Prada that once commanded $500/hour in a better economy that aren't faring well.  Many of them don't want to bring their rates down to $350 or $375, and that's their choice.

I haven't seen either you or Kate, but like I said, if you're LV or Prada, you will be more impervious to economic downturn.

In economics, we call this price elasticity of demand.  Some providers have few substitutes.  Others have many.

And some providers are not adjusting their rates to be in line with their appearance.

That's a subjective call, I realize, but look at strip clubs as a proxy.  The hottest girls in the strip clubs are always in VIP and never on the floor and almost never on the stage.  They can afford to pay the DJ to keep them off the pole and the stage and in VIP.

It's the ones that aren't as attractive or desirable that end up having to hustle more.

It's no different here.

An interesting thread I believe. Kate I agree with you, especially your comment on generosity. A few days ago I spent a couple of hours with a lady I've seen a few times. She's a five year veteran, travels a great deal, and I thought had an interesting strategy. For the past eighteen months she has focused mostly on mid-sized cities which she felt were under-served by providers. She told me that, since the economy tanked and the days of easy money dried up for so many, she has been more successful in smaller cities. She claimed that in the large metro areas there are so many providers that she was barely making expenses in some locales. This is a woman who has lots of good reviews here at TER.
I spend part of each year in a mid-sized city in the Southwest, where I saw her, and I sure feel like we're under-served! Before our local board was taken down I know many men posted they felt the same way. There are always a slew of lower priced ads of no review woman on BP, a smattering of uninspiring local talent and, a usually small, number of high quality touring ladies. I don't see BP women with no reviews and have been mostly underwhelmed with the locals. The traveling ladies I have seen have all told me they do pretty well here, especially considering our expenses compared to many large metro areas. So travelers, what's your experience been regarding the sweet spot of city size?
Please forgive this newbie if I should have begun a new thread with my question.  :>)

I know gorgeous women from across the globe at every end of the rate spectrum, and not ONE of them has every said she did amazing in EVERY place she went to. That could be because of lack of research, something going on that week, etc. but the point is, anyone can have an off tour and it has nothing to do with how good you are and how you look. Certain places like certain "types" of women. I know black girls who do amazing in areas where a petite blonde would starve...the reverse is also true. Doing "well" on a tour is also subjective. For some women, if they make 500 over what they paid to get there, they consider that good. For me, 3 times what I paid is GOOD. ..double is the bare min. I need to even bother going back to a place.

I was told. WTF...I am not all that skinny, but the fake blonde hair and fake tan are not what those boys were about lol. My friend Faith who is a tall red head with pale skin charges 400 for cbj and no freakin sex out there...does amazing. When she comes to New Orleans, nothing.

People ARE on vacation in the summer and no one visits here for vacation during that time, unless they are all out crazy. EVERY provider struggles in New Orleans during the summer months, and that is obvious by the reviews not being posted that will increase come Sept. People go to Florida when they live here or the Caribbean...they also don't fk around when the kids are out of school as much, because guess what...most women in the south are stay at home moms. Hubby might have a lunch hour, but he is only able to spend about 200 bucks because wifey has him saving for that 2 week vacation they get once a year in the summer.

I know plenty of providers who have as you say, "built their business" and it makes no difference if guys that are usually regulars, don't have the same amount of money. It also has EVERYTHING to do with the market you're in and the average escort is catering to the 200-400 range. Women above those markets may not see the same shift, because the guys paying on the ups of 600 have money to blow all year round. For the average provider rate, it is a struggle. I work every other week, so I don't much bother with New Orleans but I still know that summers are the slowest time of year as well as Mardi Gras. Makes no sense on the last one, but that's how it is.

I do way better in Mempis and Cleveland than I ever did in NYC or D.C. There are not as many providers in those cities so you can get the rate you want without the hassle of having to compete with literally THOUSANDS of other providers. The ads themselves are also cheaper in those smaller cities as well as hotels and airfare, so you save all the way around. I have to actually charge MORE to cover hotel costs when I visit certain places, and don't make "more" money to support that. The touring thing has just gotten old for me, so time for a new plan.

Ms. Rayne;
Thanks for the insight. And I can certainly understand the touring "getting old". I once spent some time as a road warrior, thought it was glamorous at first. Staying in nice hotels night after night in exotic places etc. In time I came to dislike living out of suitcases, eating restaurant food constantly and being surrounded by strangers all the time.
I see some ladies who say they basically travel all the time. Not sure how they manage it but I do know I appreciate the heck out of those who make their way to my city. I spend part of the year in a locale with plenty of the ladies and part of the year in a place with not so many.
