Yes, it is primarily about the money, but that doesn't mean you can't have a good time and develop some good relationships.

Of course, some are jaded, and I guess if I were on the other side I might be jaded, too.

I know for me, in my non professional relationships, I notice a little bit of jadedness

I see so many married men, it makes me really not trust men at all PERIOD. So I guess I stopped believing men could be faithful long ago

As a young man, I always craved for love and companionship from a woman. Never got it. Back in the days, in my twenties, I used to have lot of patience with women.

As I got more and more comfortable with hobbying, and trust me, it took a while, I kind of have a short fuse with civvie women. .I just can't stand them. May be being in hobby for a while (about 10 yrs). I, now, find most civvie women petty. Being in hobby for about 10 years now, I don't think I will be able to go back to civvie life that easily. I see everyday what my friends go through (all in their 30s) to keep their marriages alive.  Now, I do sometimes miss companionship, and wish I had a wife/girlfriend, but the other side of me knows that I would be back to my mongering activities very soon, and wouldn't have the patience to put up with her nonsense.

So yes I am jaded... I am jaded alright !!! But I am lot happier.  I can follow my passions (sports) and have complete CONTROL over sex. If I want to get laid, I will get laid. If one provider doesn't want to fuck me, her loss. I am sure the next wouldn't mind my Three Benjamins

This point has been hashed out a million times here.  One camp thinks our intellect should override natural instincts to want to have sex without the social constraints imposed by monogamy.  The other camp thinks it is a useless fight against instincts that have evolved over a million years.

The science on on the side of the second camp.  So are divorce statistics.  In my opinion, people would be a lot happier if they could uncouple ownership from their relationships.  They won't of course.  And the level of human misery caused by self generated issues about infidelity will continue to plague a majority of couples.  And the level of infidelity in both camps will remain unfazed by the proselytizing of either camp.

I can't discredit the fact that I have met more cheaters in the hobby than anywhere else, so of course that would make one think that ALL men are that way. I don't, and never will. I do have a more realistic outlook about "why" people cheat though, and it has not really changed how I view men and women overall. As a person who has never been married for even a year (and I tried it twice), I really would not know what it takes to be faithful for that long. I know nothing about having a partner who is my best friend, one I share a home and children with, so I won't speculate on the reasons why some do what they do. I just prefer to keep it real.
