Read reviews and look at photos, then decide for yourself.

what price range that most message board fellow are playing in? Can you define what you mean by 'sweet spot'? By that do you mean the price range whereby you usually get better service AND looks in a single package???

A term that used to be thrown around for a common price was "rack rate" but I haven't seen that used for a while

One thing to keep in mind is that common pricing, average pricing, mean price, even highs and lows are going to vary by region or city.

I've seen it noted that southern states and the pacific northwest are a bit less expensive than the coast, Vegas, Chicago and NY, but I couldn't attest to that.

Newer guy question.  Is the "sweet spot" meaning the typical TER reviewed girl a $300-$500 girl?  Maybe because I'm a $3-$5 guy, I assume convos on the message board are more the $3-5 girls rather than the daily high volume, lower priced girls.  Guys who bring up the virtues of really high volume, low priced girl discussions tend to get the proverbial kick to the nuts here.
