see the thread below... I hobby a bit - and to be honest - the only time I have worried was when I dated civies...  Condom... the only way to go.

All is takes is meeting that one person who HAS an STD. How do you find out if she/he has it? Just keep meeting up with people, and you may just find out.

If you don't want to take your chances, I would suggest retiring from the hobby all together. Remember, each time that you become involved with the opposite sex (or same sex for some lol), your chances increases.

There are so many myths out there, and the one that irks me the most, is the one with all you have to do is gargle with listerine, and voila everything is cleared! Wow, who was the stupid idiot that came up with that solution??? lol

Listen folks, again~ remember your chances increases with catching something, the more you stay involved with the field. If you don't want to catch anything, just get out while you can.

Enough said.

When to be totally honest, civies who are largely untested - and more often than not go bareback... pose more of a general problem.  In the 4 years since my divorce - THE ONLY TIME I have been offered bareback was by a civie - her logic?  she was menstruratig!  yea - like that is gonna protect you from squat!

Seriously - if you mean "the field" to indicate anything but a monogamous relationship then you are somewhat correct (you cannot be 100% sure of the fidelity of your partner).  However, if you are meaning excorts vs. civies, well that is another story depending on the choice of escort....

You have a greater chance of catching an STD from a condom less civilian than you would a provider, since 99.9% of providers require use of a condom.
I've never had a provider ever offer me bareback sex. I've met a few ladies who have worked in  legal brothels in LV and these ladies really inspect your pecker when you drop your pants. Now picking up a street walker, there's no telling what ya might pick up.
Be safe.

My answer would be: your chances decrease by switching from polygamous to monogamous hobbying. Don't you agree?

I found it helpful for assessing the risks that are present in the hobby for specific activities, particularly performing oral sex on a woman.

I took a look at that list and discovered that a woman has more of a chance of catching something by performing BBBJ than a man performing DATY on a woman.

Now recieving oral sex for a man is worse than recieving oral sex for a woman. I'll just keep to my safety practises. That way I am in the least dangerous categories. Lucky me!!!

Well, the reason I asked is because CDC (at http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/qa/qa19.htm)reports that indeed it is possible. They argue that the virus can enter your bloodstream through mucousmembrane linings in your mouth... and the link http://www.dph.sf.ca.us/sfcityclinic/stdbasics/stdchart.asp almost declares DATS as 0% risk.... who are we to believe? ...should we use a condom for DATS too?.... btw, lot of ppl in reviews are not at all aware/worried about this?... how come?

What about HPV??? I've read you (as a woman) and a man can catch it orally..
Imagine.. taking that home to your wife/gf/so and yet you were playing it safe by using protection for f/s.. hrmmmm

Look at where you're asking the question....a predominately hobbyist board and the women that cater to them. Of course they will take risks. How many times have I heard "You can get hit by a car crossing the road"? To me it depends what road I might be crossing. And there is the taking the acceptable risk term. I have no problem with what others do. I am responsible for my very own protection and that goes for the type of clients I see also.
