Your regular ask you to meet at a cheaper motel, since she's familiar with you and don't need to impress you. You wait for her and she's running late, and says she'll be there in 5 - 10 minutes. In the meantime, you're waiting in your expensive German car in the cheap hotel's parking lot.  Then suddenly, two cop cars pulls over the parking lot and parks near you. In your mind, there's the possibility the cops may ask you to roll your window and ask why you are in a cheap motel and you're driving an expensive car waiting in the parking lot.

This actually happened to me.  What will you do in this situation?

I would not be waiting in the parking lot.  Sorry, but that's never a good idea.

My ATF actually DID do this a couple of years ago. She recommended a cheaper motel since we did out calls and she was only going there to see me.  This is another issue to consider. If your ATF is seeing guys all day out of a motel she is asking for trouble.

I would have left.  How stupid would it be to sit there in the parking lot as LE watches your ATF walk into her room and you knock on the door right after that?  Sure there is no proof of any wrong doing but if they have been watching her you are screwed....and not in a good way.

I would have done as I do when arriving at any incall where driving distance is a concern...  so I arrive early to locate the place.  Then remove myself to that coffee shop I went by, go in have coffee & snack (pay cash).  I time the return to arrive just in time.  With an ATF, she'd have my number & call me when she's settled in the room.
NOTHING more suspicious than a non-guest sitting in a car outside... security or LE is likely to question you.  Waiting for a date or waiting to rip off auto contents.  I almost freaked on a Newbie appt, when a marked unit cruised the lot but provider told me there had been thefts from vehicles so LE had stepped up patrols.  Don't sit in cars.

of buying the place and tearing it down to build a five star luxury resort.

Try to use a phony German accent when you do this.

But seriously,  you tell them that you just turned into the parking lot to make an important phone call because you would never talk on the cell phone and drive at the same time.

Then vamoose, pronto.

Then call the gal and tell her why you won't be seeing her at that or any other 2 star or lower hotel again and why she should still use upper class hotels if she wants your business.

I'm keeping my old Buick on the road for hobbying if nothing else.

It fits right in with a Red Roof Inn.

Thanks guys. Here's what I did.

I did call her and said I'm scooting out of that place because LE just arrived. And she said, let's meet at the more upscale hotel where we met last time, which is just adjacent to this cheaper one. Shit, I was even nice enough to give her an extra $20 so we could be at a better hotel -  I figured that I won't do that next time.

I was a little spooked about the cops and pissed that she was late.  But yes, next time I'll be more mentally prepared. I'll tell the cops I pulled over to make a phone call cuz I'm lost and looking for a parking space to make a phone call. But serious lesson learned !

A bed is a bed(most of the time), and I see no reason to pay a lot of money for a nicer room that I only need for an hour or so.

so I guess it's tome for a hobby car!  It's all the rage with people who suffer from inexplicable, and irrational paranoia.  Myself I have an old chevy truck wirh all or the paint peeling off.  It has no radio, tape deck, cd player...Notta!  It even has a cap on it.  Now even though I keep this baby running like a top, it looks like shit.  It's perfect for those great CL meetings at the cheapest Motel in town.  It fits right in in the worst of trailer parks.  Hell, I could probably drive it thru W. Virginia, or Mississippi, and pick up chicks in it.
Now I never drive it to meet someone, as I could not care less if cops pull up next to me in a parking lot.  I'm not breaking any laws.
But I just thought I'd throw it out there as food for thought.  For the price of a couple dates you can have one too!

If they ask why you are there, tell them you were checking email or returning text messages and, being a responsible driver, pulled into the lot to do so.  You can even say you signed Oprah's Pledge about texting while driving!

I routinely DO pull into parking lots to check email or respond to text messages.

But, seriously, the first thing that stopped me in my tracks was the downgrade. If I go into one of my favorite restaurants, and they normally give me one of me favorite tables, but this time try to put me in the back, close to the kitchen and/or restrooms, I'm going to feel slighted, and may not return. Second, I see way more LE, while driving through L.A., at the low rent motels than the better rated hotels. Third, most of the LE busts, in my area, and the rip-offs, and pimp shakedowns, that I read about, are in the cheap hotels. I ain't made out of cash, so I can appreciate where a guy would want to save a few bucks, but I choose not to take the gamble, which could cost me much more in the end.

Being a provider, I can understand why she would want to meet at a cheaper hotel. I know, at least for me, that my rates aren't that high and to spend $80 on a room when I'm only using it for 30 minutes and my rate is only $100 for 30 minutes, that's a waste of money.

I have been to some red roof inns that were horrible, but most of the ones I have been to in Atlanta are actually relatively nice on the inside. At least nice enough to serve the purpose.

I don't use red roof inn, especially since the microtel I go to is much nicer and only $5 more, but I can understand a provider using red roof inn. Sometimes a $40 can make a difference.

Now if you want to get the room, then you can go to any hotel you want. But I don't think it's my obligation to book a 5 star hotel unless my rate includes that.
