Elon Musk brought attention to Signal.  It is apparently based on cellphone numbers as ID.  Benefit apparently is end to end encryption.  Hadn't heard of it until Musk tweet.  Seems like such a thing would be useful in SW.

Correct.  Signal has been around a while, and has an excellent reputation for security including resistance to demands from gov't for keys or history.
