Usually there is no problem, but no and then, the provider ghosts or gives a lame excuse for cancelling on me the last moment.
I think most gals like to have their dance card all filled out in advance.

I do like to send a quick note at 2 week mark as a friendly reminder. Then I will send another text the night before my flight saying I am coming tomorrow, and I will reach out only if there are any issues w/ my flight.
Occasionally, the girl will contact me asking if we are on the schedule, which is always nice !!!
I really like to control the communication for the same reason you've mentioned. They forget !
Even after doing all that, and even talking to a provider in Vegas, AFTER I landed, she just didn't show up to my hotel (in Nov 2021). I just went and had more pot and gambled some more !! Screw sex.. LOL

I’ve never had a problem with it, even several months in advance (usually for touring girls when they post schedules). A couple of local agencies prefer no more than a day in advance, but I don’t really I consider that an issue.
I’ve got a big road trip planned for the next couple of weeks, and reached out to several providers who live or operate out of the cities I’ll be visiting. I started researching about two months ago and began reaching out about a month ago. Most didn’t respond, so I guess that would be the crickets the OP mentioned, but I chalked it up to having no board presence on the popular websites for those regions. I did end up getting something lined up in each spot though, finalizing the last verification about two weeks ago, and I’m quite certain that one in particular will be a real gem who will press all of the right buttons for me, and get repeats while I’m there as I’ll be there the longest.
If possible I always try and book 24 hours in advance. Many times due to work or family I have short (2-4 hour ) window of opportunity. I wish providers would be more open on what may work for them. Many times I do not contact providers I would love to repeat with due to the short time frame and possibly be labeled a ( time waster ) . Also does a no reply to a "are you available " text mean, don't contact me less than 24 hours in advance or I am booked try again some other time. I would love to get some provider input on this.
A month works for me.
I generally know my schedule and I know I won't have to cancel/change appointment times about a month out. And it's not last minute.
The 2 times I reached out to a provider more than a month in advance, I ended up cancelling both times. So a month is my sweet spot.
draw a line through their name and go to the next one on my list. If they are disrespecting you before you even get there, why take a chance that the session will be the same?
I usually tell the Hobbyist/Client to schedule a "DATE" by a certain day that I state for the following week.
I usually cannot do last minute appointments. It helps me to plan at least a week in advance.
I have done last minute a couple of times when I found myself with prior plans cancelled, but only with a lady I'm a regular with.
Just had a gent book and pay in full for an appt in Sept in Vegas. That definitely got my attention 
Every lady is different some might not welcome days in advance and just want 24hrs notice.
Have you tried to contact ladies in a different form of communication.
Like for instance P411 msg (if you are a p411 member) and if no answer follow-up a few days later by email.
Or if you reached out by email it is best to contact another way as many times emails go into spam especially nowadays with protonmail. Many emails ladies and gents are not receiving at all or went into spam folder.
If you reach out multiple times and she appears to be active and not on vacation unavailable I would say move on to the next lady.
Maybe the women you're trying to book with just don't answer their emails quickly? Personally I don't take same day bookings. I need advanced notice to bring all my toys that morning to my day job, then book a hotel and make sure I received the deposit, and head there after my day job. Also if you give me a last minute request for a sexy outfit, that outfit is going to be back home. So requests should be given when you book the appointment. Not an hour before, when I'm already at the hotel 
I prefer 2+ days in advance but booking atleast a week in advance turns me on I had a gentleman book 5 months in advance and that was really amazing! I also did a 3 day getaway with a really sweet gentleman and we started planning it 3+ months in advance. I loved the buildup to the trip with sexy emails and that I was able to give advanced notice to my day job
So in short, please give advanced notice. It's very sexy and very much appreciated. And also avoids dissapointment with dress requests.
But have certainly run into headwinds with some on advanced booking. I suspect they don't know that far in advance what other things will come up, so they'll just end up cancelling and pissing off the customer. So just best to avoid advanced bookings.
