Earlier this week, I had scheduled a get together with one of my ATF’s. I had looked at the pictures, read the reviews, and even chatted several times.
Monday morning came and went. Monday afternoon came and went. I did have several cups of coffee that day, but they were all hand poured. They were French roast - good, rich, and smooth. All day I waited for the communication from TERry. None came.
Then that evening she was back. Not in the best of shape, but there. She never told me why she did not show up that day. Oh well, I guess that is life in the hobby. Some days providers serve and some days servers do not provide.
but when I do, I call. period. Same as if I was a repair person making a service call.... I'd call. Courtesy? yea I guess... but more important it is good business.
What would I do? I would ask her "did you remember that we had an appointment on x day at y time?" It the answer is yes, then ask "why then did you not call when you were to show up." or if she says "no, I didn't remember" either way I would respond by saying "bye bye"
This aggrevation none of us need... I would expect this from civies, but not from professionals.
I really don't quite understand what you say in your post - coffee, ATF that you've only 'met' on the phone? Maybe I'm just not understanding what you say.
Everybody has bad days, sometimes days when there are family emergencies. If you don't believe her explanation then maybe you shouldn't consider seeing her. If you think her explanation is reasonable then give her another chance.
She had not shown up hours after we had set up a time. I kept calling her cell to no affect. Finally she answered and gave a pretty lame excuse for not being there, then when I said I could still come over she had another ultra-lame excuse and then said she'll make it up to me next time. At this time I was seeing red and I told her there's not going to be a next time.
I wrote her a "It's not you, it's me," letter and said that was it.
I had known this lady for about ten years and had some amazingly good times with her including trips to Florida, but she has pulled this before and I suddenly decided that I don't need it.
I do miss her but then I don't miss getting stood up, especially to the point of it being disrespectful to me.
I believe he's referring to TER (ergo "TERry")being down for several hours the other day, which looked like a recurrence of the router(?) problems of a couple of months ago.
