I thought bungie jumping was lunatic. That just defies logic what those bug-chasers are seeking.

The posts by R3 got me wondering if there are providers who are HIV positive, and still enjoy sex, but take precautions to avoid infecting their partners?  A corrolary to that question is whether there are hobbyists who are knowingly HIV positive, and who still see providers.  Which IMHO begs the question, are there HIV positive hobbyists who could get together with HIV providers?  Maybe I've got too much time on my hands...

God I hope any providers here have the repect to let someone know if they did. I mean you expect that from a streetwalker but the providers here have class, most of them anyway. I for one would steer clear of anyone with anything. Hell I couldn't afford to bring something home even if it was curible. Would cost me a LOT more than a few shots of pennicillian (yeah I know its just a generic comment).

I would be too paranoid on catching something, even though the probability to me is smaller (or higher, who knows). Sorry, but I have to speak how I feel.

This site claims to be for singles with any or all STDs.

It's not for providers, but I've seen providers advertise on other dating sites. "Generous men", "financially secure men" and "available afternoons" are pretty good signs that it's  a provider.

I was thinking along these lines.  Providers and hobbyists who are HiV positive could hook up.  But, something about this doesn't seem right somehow.  Can't put my finger on it.

Maybe I just can't relate because I'm not gay, but if you do something this stupid you deserve anything you get.  I thought it was a joke when these stories first started coming out.  I mean, who could be so hell-bent on destroying their life with a debilitating disease?  All I can say is unprotected sex with an HIV+ person is more fun than eating 7 day old rotten raw pork, but with a much slower death.  The Drudge Report article below is based on this Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsarticle.asp?nid=%2017380
There is even a documentary about the topic.  Read the review of "The Gift" on IMDB:  http://imdb.com/title/tt0355482/

Unbelievable.  Sad.

i stopped reading it in the 1st paragraph

there's enough pain in this world

:-(

That is distrubing. I cant help but wonder if he has ever spent time at a hospice? Talked to someone who developed the aids virus after being invected with HIV? For that matter talked to someone who has diabetes. I do hope that he only "expressed" this desire for attention and is not serious in his quest. ALthough the bareback thing tends to dismiss this hope. I've now seen it all and am none the better for it [EOM]

I read the article of the guy who wants HIV. Lord help him :(

Both are HIV positive.

I have included a link below to an important study on HIV and condoms using discordant couples (couples where one is HIV positive and the other is not -- at least not initially). I don't think you could do a study like this in this country, but nevertheless, it was done and the data is useful. However, it seems likely that such couples do exist in this country.

The study does demonstate that if your partner is infected with HIV you can't count on a condom to protect you against becoming infected.

Are there people who are HIV positive and know it and continue to have sex with HIV negative people without telling them? Are there people who are HIV positive and don't know it who are having sex with HIV negative people? The answer to both questions is almost certainly "Yes". We all hope that it isn't happening in this community, but it probably is.

We are all fortunate that HIV has extremely low infectivity. (It is still a puzzle to me why Africa is so much worse off than this country and Europe.) If HIV spread like the flu the world would look like "The Last Flight of Doctor Ain" (a James Tiptree, Jr. story). If you haven't read it, you probably don't want to know.

who went out of his way down in Brazil to have a TS hooker ream him just so he would catch HIV?

you might say he was "bug-chasing" the blues away (over the death of his girlfriend/wife)

a sad f*cking life it is (or waste of rather)

Link below. (If you read the story remember it was written in 1969, long long before the present climate of fear over biological terrorism existed.)

Simple answer about Africa and HIV.  I'm no doctor but my understanding is that HIV is transmitted into the blood stream.  Normal intercourse or even anal intercourse may not be able to transmitt the virus if there to no open sores or breaks in the skin for the virus to enter.  This is one reason anal sex is more dangerious because tearing is more common than with vaginal sex.

I understand that in most of Africa hygine is much worse than here or in Europe and many people have sores or other breaks in the linings that alow the virus to reach the blood.  Also I understand that African men have a real problem with using a condom.

There is also the prevalent myth in Africa that a man having sex with a virgin girl will cure him of AIDS.

I spent some time in the military and I visited many a foreign port.  It was my job at one time to screen, interview, and treat all personnel with a STD.  During one deployment, I was on the medical department spent a considerable time educating personnel in preventive measures regarding STD’s that everybody was required to see.

Condoms were readily and conveniently available and some were even located in discreet locations for those that were a little on the shy side.

We went through thousands and thousands of condoms during that deployment and a couple of ports we visited had very high rates of HIV infected prostitutes. We had a very low rate of STD’s but would you believe we still had guys that would go bb and claim drunkenness (I was drunk, I forgot) or the condom broke during the screening or interview.

We were very lucky in that nobody wound being HIV + .

One lucky guy contracted Gonorrhea from a girl from a cruise ship and exclaimed to me that she wasn’t a hooker how can I have a STD, even Pauline Purebred can have the clap.

HIV kills.  There is NO questions about it.  I would hope that anybody who has this would care enough to only see others that have the same problem.  Most STD's (I think) are curable.  At the same time everyone in this hobby and most in this profession have other people they care about and they would not want to infect their other person, because of their hobby.  If you have any transmittable disease you should seek treatment and take care of yourself. Just remember to think of the harm you could do to others by your enjoyment.
