I'll not debate the statement, but if you're 50% right, and yes BB does happen more than people admit, but in and out of this realm, so what does that tell you about IV drug users, barflys, and people who have little regard for a future... they are in the millions, don't you think? I am talking to the folks who do BBFS with providers. More common than you think. This type of behavior puts the whole community at risk. Don't ask for details because I am not going to give them. Guys any provider who offers BBFS does not care about her health. If she offers it to you she will offer to other guys.

Though it does spoil the fun momentarily.  I just wish it could be aimed directly at the idiots who shop for BBFS and the trysters desperate enough to offer it.  I've already "covered" and I wish that I could bypass it.

I see no such prejudice in his post.  ScaredStraight was making the point that the risk of having BB sex with a HIV+ provider has no relationship with her donation rate. Morover, base on the larger number of sexual encounter and different sexual partners, the HIV+ and STD risk is going to be greater for BB sex with a provider that ROUTINELY practices unprotected sex than having unprotected sex with a wife, GFs, and probably most one night stands.

The implication that all providers who do BB sex probably have HIV as a result of this practice is probably an exaggeration. Based on the estimated prevalence HIV rate (0.3%) in the US population for 100, 250, 500 and 1000 partners the risk of that at least one of these partners is HIV positive is 25, 53, 77, and 95% respectively. (Note: Such large numbers of sexual partners in much more in the realm of probability for Providers than that of wives, GFs, one night stands and for that matter hobbyist themselves). However not every sexual contact with an HIV+ partner will results in an HIV infection. The rate of HIV transmission per unprotected coital act with an HIV+ partner is estimated to be about 1 to 8 per 1000.  However the risk is estimated to be as high a 1/50 (risk associated with per deep needle stick injuries) during the acute infection phase when viral loads are high.  This phase last 1-3 weeks after HIV transmission and usually before HIV infection has been diagnosed. Co-infection with other STDs (which is expected to be higher in non condom users) will also increase the HIV transmission risk. Still using these numbers it hard for me to see how more than 20% of Providers who do BB Sex exclusively can be HIV+ as a result of this practice.  The 20% risk estimate is base on a lady doing 20,000 unprotected coital acts with different partners (not likely). Condoms can reduce these HIV risks factors by approximately 60 to 90%.

Great stats Jadie, thanks.  A couple of other statistics I would find interesting are the relationship of different types of providers to their respective iv drug use. Hope I phrased that right. I'll bet Sharon in Cali knows a lot about this stuff.
