I was just this evening looking at an Agency site here in NYC.  The escorts provided by that agency run in fees from 600-2000 per hour.  Most of the gals seemed extremely good looking in the pix on the site.  A typical provider in NYC is in the 300-350 range and they are priced as low as 200 in some instances.  Looks in these price ranges vary of course, but many are as attractive as the ones in that "high priced spread".  

In looking at reviews for the providers from that agency, I found that they receive generally good performance marks, but not that much different from lower priced providers that have good reputations.  My personal experience pretty much bears this out.

So here is my question:

When considering an encounter with a provider, are your expectations higher as the rate increases?  Or is price not a consideration for performance?  Also, how do looks factor into price?  Also, what have been your experiences with price vs. performance?

My expectations are not any higher as the rate increases.  What I would expect for that price is to spend my time with an exceptional good looking woman.  Performance consideration based on previous reviews is secondary, however I'd never pay 2K an hour for any provider...not when I can receive the same treatment from providers that are in the $$$ to $$$$$ range.

I would think that price almost has to factor into expectations.  If a Rolls Royce automobile was the same in all respects to a Ford Escort who would pay the thousands of dollars extra to own the Rolls unless the buyer's only purpose was to demonstrate to everyone that he had enough money to be able to buy that vehicle.

Once you get over $$$ price has no link to quality, except for porn stars, where price links to how hot of a star they are.  When you pay over $6 a minute, GFE is typical, beauty should be stunning, attitude should be excellent, and skills should be superb.  If you are paying 10$, then you are a sucker and are paying Rolls Royce prices for a Lincoln.  The Lincoln is a great car, but paying triple the price will not improve the ride.

Does a Mercedes really feel that much better driving down the highway than a Camry? I does make more of an impression when you tell your friends, but close your eyes and most feel very much the same.

Price vs. expectation: My expectations would go up as the price goes up only as far as the details are concerned. A lady charging a higher rate may see less people thus giving her more time to pay attention to all the details(atmosphere, your likes/dislikes in terms of what she wears, music, and so on) that would contribute to the "total" experience. I haven't found any difference in the physical aspect and price. Sometimes you really feel comfortable with a person and everything flows smooth as silk and sometimes you don't mesh and things become cumbersome no matter what the price.

The agency you refer to seems to come highly recommended as safe and reputable on your local board. I think that sometimes in a city where there is a large amount of business/tourist travel there are alot of people that may willing to play a premium to insure a pleasurable experience in a city they may not be to familiar with(and may not have the time or know how to do the needed research) rather then take a chance on saving alittle money and walking away disheartened.

My experience has been limited to plus or minus 50% from the "market price" for a given city. What I have observed is that performance is at an extremely high level at market price, that it does not improve significantly as price goes up, but does markedly decline as price goes down. It's a lot like wine pricing and quality.

So whenever I am seeing someone in a higher price range, my expectations about performance are not higher. If I was totally logical, I would never pay above market price, but I usually decide who I want to see before I check pricing.

I agree that at the median price and above there is little correlation between price and performance, but that performance falls off rapidly below the median.  However, at any price there is tremendous variability.  It is probably not reasonable to somehow expect there there will be ever better sex if you just spend more, the basic point of the French quote.

The French may not be the best of allies, but they do seem to know about sex.

I feel the same as the two posters above.  A high price is no guarantee.  When I pay over market price, I expect some little extras, a drink, wine, champagne.  Plus a very comfortable incall location.  After that, it's pretty much the same.

I no longer see the need for such high rates when you can contact most of these people directly.
Although, when being provided with special or unusual requests you can expect to pay more.
One last thing, try tipping.  It is always appreiated and remembered.

A guy who pays that much is either
1) "demonstrate[ing] to everyone that he had enough money to be able to" pay it for an hour with a provider
2) completely brainwashed with the notion that if it costs so much more it must be better.  These are the guys who buy "the ulitmate driving machine" (BMW) but who I outcorner in my Ford Escort.

2) subscribe to the P.T. Barnum school of thought.  "There's a sucker born every minute".

I can't understand why some guys can get so upset over girls charging high prices.  If you can afford $2000/hour and that's how you choose to spend your money, then that's your own business and it's fine.  Not doing anybody any harm that I can see.

If you can't afford it, or simply don't want to spend it, then have fun at whatever level of the market you are comfortable with and which leaves you feeling good before, during and after.  Which is the whole point, I believe

I hate the car analogy.  A Honda Civic or a Toyota Camrey will not outperform a BMW let alone a Ferrari in a road test.  It is really like comparing popstars to opera singers.  There are a lot of people making a lot of money who can't carry a tune.  Yes there are some lower priced girls who far out perform their higher classed cousins but typically as the price gets higher you are paying for exclusivity and beauty.
Don't forget unlike a house or a car, most guys are not showing off their escort to their friends to show them what they can buy.  Most of the time the only person who sees what you paid for is you and you have to love with it.

Letting price dictate who you want to be with is fine but don't beat the girls up because someone is willing topay her what she wants.

You guys make me want to raise my rates!  I'm at the lower end of the scale locally, and while I've always been satisfied with my clientele, I know there are some who don't even look at me because they assume that at the rates I charge I can't be any good, and the responses here seem to bear out that stigma.

Sometimes though, my opinion depends on the mood I'm in.  Premium priced women can provide some of the "extras"- enthusiasm, ambiance, etc.  I'm usually into the concept of "enjoying the ride".  With a high class lady, that works.  But if it's the destination that's important, then "any port in the storm" may suffice.  IMHO

surely i can afford $2K/hour but i'm afraid that money will only go to my favourite pornstar (Belladonna).  people have asked me: BUT WHY?  what can she possibly do that a good-nasty GFE can't (or possibly won't)? ... the answer is simple, a pornstar's resumee/portfolio is out in the open for you too see (kinda like the restaurant menus in Japan which have pictures of the food you'll be eating next to the pricce). even if she doesn't perform quite at the same level with clients as she does on film (almost always the case) you nevertheless have an idea (or think you do) of what she's capable of

the cost of her hourly rate can most definitely be a factor in many of us trying to choose just which lovely lady we will spend our time and money with. although some guys have the means to spend whatever amount they wish at any time they would like; the rest of us are forced to plan ahead and budget carefully for an encounter with that certain provider that we feel we just must have an hour with. getting a good value for whatever the dollar amount spent is the main goal here. so therefore, I for one, tend to do more extensive research in reviews and get second opinions on the local boards if possible when going for anything above the average price.

my experience doing this has proven to me that there is no direct relationship between price vs. performance. except when dealing with the lower end of the price scale where below average price equals below average performance. I don't feel that anything well above a median hourly rate has ever yielded anything better in quailty and/or of service.

I personally have not found anyone worth more than $$$1/2 or possibly $$$$. at least not when I can get the same or equal treatment for less.  additionally, my favortite local girl is only $$1/2, and I'm sure cost has something to do with that choice. I hold nothing against those ladies with higher rates, if they can get it, more power to you. there is a market for every type of client and provider out there.

When I was dating, I had a bit higher of a suggested gift on the surface.  HOWEVER, I never watched the clock, so in the end, it all worked out to be the same as market.  Astute gentleman could see past the wording in my advertisement and I got repeats and excellent reviews.

What the difference was that I was super duper duper low volume, the most dates I ever went on was six in a month. (I am lucky in that I've always enjoyed a primary OTHER income.) ALWAYS I went on dates that I believed I would truly enjoy the guy's company.  

More often than not, I brought along a small token gift, often I would bring sushi dinner as I preferred the intimacy of eating in.

My experience has been just the opposite.  If I think back to my 10 very best, all-time most memorable experiences, from among a pretty large sample...

About 5 were below the "market rate" by 15-25%.
About 3 were at the market rate.
I can only think of one time that I went over the market rate and ended up getting my world rocked.

Simple Supply vs. Demand.

If the price is too high the phone won't ring.

If the service is good, OR the name recognition is high then the higher price will NOT scare away clients.

And hey, if we all had unlimited income, don't you think WE'D spend extra to be with someone famous we'd seen before that the rest of us peasants couldn't afford?

That being said, I would rather pay a little extra to get a better service (I'd go $ higher for someone with an amazing rep, maybe even $1K for someone like Sasha from NY (one of these days.......).

Makes me think of that old Brewster's Millions movie.... remember when he had to work at blowing $30 million fairly quick?  Hell, most of us could do that on a weekend bender in Vegas with a couple of huge suites and a couple of dozen high end providers (Best... Party.... EVER!)

I have found that price versus performance, as a "general rule," are somewhat tied together. The quality vesus price ratio ("QPR") generally remains fairly even. That said, there are always exceptions to the general rule. I have seen a few ladies that in my humble opinion, have their donation rates a click too low for thier superb performance. I have also seen a few who should lower their donation a click based on the less than expected performance. Perhaps TER should have a category for QPR in the review section!!

Additionally, you have different markets being able to carry higher rates. Just look at Las Vegas for example. You pay more than you would elsewhere for the same (even though many would argue that the level of performance across the board in Las Vegas is also higher, too). It is usually up to the market conditions, like any commodity, to even it out, but very few ever last that long in this hobby so it doesn't have a significant impact.  

And like the wine analogy which Rick refers to, there is the theory of diminishing returns. Once you hit a certain dollar amount, the quality versus price ratio becomes hard to justify for the minimal increase in performance. Is a $400 bottle of Screaming Eagle close to seven times times better than say, a $60 bottle of Duckhorn "Estate" Cabernet?? I don't think so. It may not even be twice as good. This is also applicable to audio equipment, as all as many other things like autos, etc. The only justification for the higher prices is ego and exclusivity, which given human nature are justifiable reasons.

When business is good, price goes up.  When it's slow, price goes down.  Performance has something to do with how busy a lady is, but marketing does as well.  

Lets break this down shall we.

$$-$$1/2: At this price range the provider is most likely a high volume girl as most guys can afford this price afier a decent paycheck.

You can expect the encounter to be outcall to your location in most cases.

Expect no special "options" i.e. trips to greece, dfk, or bbjtc.

Expect some serious clock watching to be going on

Expect some very inconsistent or unflattering reviews

This range also increases the likelyhood of you being ripped off.

(There are always noteable exceptions to this, but it is my experience that generally this is the case with this price range, and in case you hadn't noticed I am generalizing here)

$$$-$$$$ The famous GFE range

The reviews get more consistent.

The level of service is significantly increased and will include lots of "options"

Incall locations are more available and in some cases are the preferred place of business of the provider.

A ripoff will slip in on occasion but very rarely

Clock watching is present but not bothersome. Usually it's the 2hr territory.

$$$$ and up Ranges from GFE-PSE

Usually no seriously enforced clock watching

Almost anything goes (Safely of course)

Great reviews through and through

Has anyone noticed that there isn't very much difference between the $$$-$$$$ price range and the $$$$ and up range? Now contrast that with how much the $$$-$$$$ range differed from the $$-$$1/2 range and tell me do you think this is an accurate depiction of what to expect at these prices.
