I prefer "Companion" or "Confident"......of the choices offered.....!"Friend" would be another good choice !
There’s a movie from the late 80’s called Working Girls. It’s a very straight-forward, realistic approach to sex work in New York at the time. Worth a watch for sure.
When speaking broadly, I generally opt for the terms 'provider' or 'escort'. Both of those seem to be generally respectful, without being over the top. Many of the other terms are either seemingly disrespectful, or too close to honorifics - which from my background in kink aren't something that you just give out willy nilly.
Now for providers that I have seen a few times and built rapport with, then I may have descriptors that fall outside of that list - but that's between me and them
I love me a good dutiful Ho. I pay well for just that.
Speaking colloquially with civvie friends, I use "hooker" when referring to myself and either that or "escort" when referring to other ladies.
Speaking publicly, I use "companion".
Speaking colloquially with folks involved here, I use "friend" or "lady" most often, "provider" on occasion.
BCD, I/we use "lover", "slut", "whore" with all manner of delightful and dirty adjectives attached.
I don't like:
Companion: you are not keeping me company, you are fucking me.
Muse: I am not gazing into your eyes for inspiration, I am watching you blow me.
(harlot is fine but old-fashioned)
Model: I am not sticking a camera in your face. I am sticking my dick in your face.
Jezebel: This connotes a "loose woman." You're not loose if you get paid.
Mistress: yes, she gets money, but also much more in a LTR.
Confidant: Surely, you jest. Why would I confide in you? I want to plant my seed in you.
Whore: good, but unfriendly.
Escort: What? Are you just going someplace with me?
Courtesan: Another word for Mistress, so, no.
Hustler: fine but not sex-specific.
Queen: Only when you're sitting on my face.
If you didn't get the picture, I hate euphemisms.
Smile for me!
Maybe some will disagree with me but that is one of the most tastefully written tasteless posts that I have seen here recently. 👌
My work here is finished.
I'll admit the best lines are from a buddy (and former volunteer mod here) who:
1) Describes himself as a lesbian trapped in a man's body.
2) Claims his last move before leaving her incall was "I wipe my dick on her drapes."
Those old mods were wild men. And at least one wild woman.
Agree with most and agree that in general euphemisms are usually unnecessary. I personally don't mind companion escort. I'm looking for more than just sex in the encounter so companion seems to track well with the "one hour girlfriend" characterization (metaphor?) which then captures some of the non-physical aspects of a good session. Escort is just so common and some DO offer time outside the bedroom for outings and dinners or even travel and tour guide type services. I think trying to separately name these various groups differently is splitting hairs and using "hooker" a poor description.
Courtesan is actually something of a good word that makes a bit of a distinction between those catering to the needs of the more affluent customer form the less affluent. I suppose you can argue that you're not affluent so hooker is the appropriate term for you.
(I'd also note that hooker is the name used for the person that is part of the emergency response team in racing that hooks whatever car crashed up to the tow vehicle so, do you crash you car a lot?)
Those would be: harlot, hooker, whore, and hustler.
My mind makes no connection between "Jezebel" and a provider. The way I understand it, Jezebel is a women who is deceitful in order to get what she wants. Providers are not automatically deceitful (only when they use fake photos in their ads, upsell, etc.).
I'm old school when it comes to the word "whore." The classic definition is woman who uses sex, or the expectation of sex, or order to get her way or something in return. This could apply to a provider, but it can equally apply to someone who is not engaged in the profession. Example: a woman who sleeps with her boss in order to get a promotion.
I notice there is a word missing from this list, or more precisely two words: sex worker. (Maybe it's not on the list because it is two words.) I absolutely despise that term. I understand it was invented in order to de-stigmatize the profession. But to me it also de-humanizes the woman are engaged in the profession. I know I'm in the minority in this opinion, as it is fully embraced by many of the "younger generation" (i.e., 20 years or more younger than I am) of providers. Oh well.
When all is said and done, I'll stick with the work "provider."
It encompasses fs and fbsm providers and even dancers and OF creators if you want it to.
Plenty of them are models, mistresses, confidants, and hustlers. Some even therapists.
I dislike putting groups of people in boxes. I tend to use their first name when talking to them. I just am going on a date if need to explain to someone else what I am doing.
"courtesan". Companion is pretty straightforward, but courtesan may fit better, according to google AI:
"A courtesan was historically a high-class mistress or companion, often educated and accomplished, who provided entertainment and sexual services to wealthy and powerful men in exchange for financial support, gifts, and status, enjoying more freedom than typical women of their era. They were distinct from common prostitutes, often associating with noble courts, and played significant roles in society, influencing arts and politics, as seen in Renaissance Europe, Japan (oiran), and other cultures."
I may also use "escort" from time to time, but steer clear of terms i find derogatory like hooker, whore, etc.
I just posted the caca that came to mind, not much effort. I used to take offense to certain names, but don’t anymore it is what it is. I realize some people don’t think very highly of us working women. The funny part it’s when I first stated this wonderful industry over twenty years ago I was, so closed minded I thought we only provided one thing. Now, as I evolve I realize I am a friend to many and also a healer.
We have so many titles. I have embraced every single word. I am a hooker because I hook people. I got that good good. I am very addictive. 😆 I don’t take offense to what is meant to be offensive when posted here. What’s the purpose of posting rudeness? Negative attention it’s immature. Those individuals are not my clientele & that’s just fine with me. Vibes don’t lie. Thanks for posting.
Happy Holidays TER friends!
Caca is the grossest word of all the grossest word. Its a bad word in my household.
Caca is like the yuckiest word you can use for the yuckiest smelliest pile of shit. Ever.
I would love to know which word do your kids use when friends ask them what there mother does?
And just for clarification Queen is not that describes a provider/working woman, Perhaps you meant to say Queen Whore who does doubles with her daughter Princess Whore. Now that's hot

#1) Provider, she's providing something I'm paying for
#2) Escort if I'm being escorted to a function.
3) Sex worker, kinda sterile, clinical but accurate.
I've been partial to "Relaxation Assistant" since I heard it some years ago. It seems not to have caught on widely, though.
To some it sounds too strongly like massage parlor service, but I feel quite relaxed after a vigorous round or two of sex, so it fits.
