Has anyone used any of the alternatives to Paypal such as Yahoo PayDirect, Propay, E-Gold, the Citibank thing, Stormpay, etc.  If so, is it convenient and secure???  Any information on these or other alternatives would be greatly appreciated!

Jaclyn :)

P.S.  I've already perused the site www.paypalsucks.com, but wanted to see the opinions from an adult business perspective.

I'm not sure, but I think Yahoo has taken up the same policy as Paypal. And from a brief look at Stormpay it looks like both parties must be members? Also, I was never a fan of the affiliate deals or offshore banks not FDIC insured.

A friend of mine was sent funds via Yahoo Pay Direct.  She used the word, "appointment" in her correspondence with her client, and Yahoo shut her account down.  She never was able to get the money.  It was refunded to the client.

Paypal is out because they have updated their policy to say that they will no longer be taking payments for anything having to do with the adult industry.

Pay pal was bought by ebay and ebay doesnt need the adult world for there billing stuff so its general policy. This is what i suggest donig either using western union something. Or getting a third party billing such as ccbill or ibill ... its an acctual billing company. and then what you do is make a legit business that you have that sells some sort of service or minimal product such as shirts, sex toys, something.... and then your money is also taxable and safe too. So if you ever have LE problems they cant seize all your stuff. I had this happen wasnt pleasent.

I just tried out Stormpay to see if we could use them to accept credit card payments on our website.

I was not impressed with them at all.

They sound good when you read the basic information, only taking 4% and such as that.  What they don't tell you up front is that the person paying will lose 10 percent plus $1.25 off the top when they deposit money into their account in order to pay you.  In addition, you cannot withdraw anything less than $25 and will lose another 4 percent plus $2 (more if you withdraw by means other than US mail).  Since I was testing stormpay with just $10, I essentially lost the $10.  Also, it seems like the maximum payment is $500.

When I wrote an email to stormpay and told them I would pass along my findings on public bulletin boards, I got an angry email telling me that would be illegal and threatening to prosecute me.  I don't know any ethical company that threatens prosecution to anyone who talks publicly about a negative experience.  Kind of sounds more like the mafia.

I will not have anything else to do with stormpay.
