i see this term on many reviews. i recently had a very good experience w/ a provider. she made me feel at ease and we had a good rapport. is this what is meant by connecting w/ a provider?
i figure she is just doing her job very well.

If you have really "connected", you already know what it means.

It means that if this woman wasn't a professional, you wouldn't be leaving for a good long time.  It is what is meant in performance reviews by "I forgot it was a service".  It is what is meant by "GFE...girlfriend experience".  
It is when the sex transcends the act and you really experience the person, not just the gender.

It is what most of us hope for when we make that appointment.

Most of the time, I think it is something more.  If the person you are with becomes a person (and not some expensive masturbatory object ) then you are probably connecting at some level.  The level you connect at depends on how well you are able to deal with people in general and how well your partner is able to deal with people.  Many women you will meet are extremely good at extablishing some sort of connection with people ( along with the sex ).  They are a pleasure to meet.  If you are willing to respond to them as people, you will find out exactly what connection means.

Not much to add to the above excellent answers but for me it feels like meeting someone you like to be with.  It can be the sexual act or the the things they talk about.  Sometimes you have a great time but you are still looking at the clock looking for the session to be over.  You haven't connected then.

Like "orthodx" said, not much to add. However, I'll add my own personal experience.

I was on a "guys weekend" with some buddies. We each had a "Provider". I'm pretty picky, and tend to go a bit higher end for several reasons. Of the three "Providers" I've now been with, this one in particular, I can say I connected with. We talked for about two to three hours before going to bed. We even argued. She was beautiful, interesting, intelligent and confident, all the things I find attractive. We're totally different people with regards to lifestyle, tastes, etc. But unlike the others, the sex was more than just physical, (and no, I'm not saying there was a spiritual connection). We just seemed to have enjoyed each others company. She had me convinced she would have spent the night with me if we had met under different circumstances.

She was pretty a cool person. I'll definitely see her again.

Really connecting means laughing at what's funny even if it means laughing at yourself or each other.  Enjoying the time spent even if you are not intimate.  If sex happens - fine, if not, that's OK also.  Mainly, you just like being together.

It is when you end the session with a great big friggin' smile on your face because you have just had the best sex of your life and you can't wait to see her another time!
