Was trying to finalize an appointment with a provider visiting my city. She requested a deposit using Zelle, Venmo or some other electronic transfer.  Since all of my accounts are joint I asked if I could substitute an Amazon or visa gift card. She said yes but in that case the deposit would not go towards her total fee. I declined. Is this new normal?

Have you lost your mine!

Now days lots of Providers are using deposits as a scam!

Say No to deposits, driver licenses or anything that they can be used to hold you hostage with in the future.

Too many other better providers out there to caught up in a scam!

My preference is to not pay a deposit but I do on occasion for the right girl and if she has a history of handling those deposits professionally. That said, I have never had a provider who does accept a GC tell me that wouldn't go to defray the remaining balance.

Seems outrageous. But no need to be a dick about it.

Deposits are always a scam. You never get anything for tying up money with a stranger.

That said, of the women I've seen that said they required it, most don't really require it in reality. Like, they'll usually ask for it, sure, but, you tell them something to the affect of "I'm not comfortable with that due to negative past experiences" and poof, magically the requirement vanishes into thin air. I've also had a few where, the deposit is listed on their ad, and I simply ignored it and it never came up.

But hey, a sucker is born every minute, do yourself a favor and beat one out before you press send and you'll avoid 99% of the nonsense automatically.

Everyone needs to keep a few favorite providers on great terms. Screw any provider who will not accept p-411 or other reference. The tables are already starting to turn. We are starting to see price cuts on the east coast.

That’s not the norm. I require deposits and accept Amazon gift cards (if Cashapp isn’t an option), but like a Cashapp deposit, Amazon GCs go towards my donation.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

DO give a deposit, when requested, to an established, in-demand, legit provider with a good reviews and track-record.

DO NOT give a deposit to a glamorous new babe with no credentials, no reviews, old reviews or bad reviews.

As a newbie, I was burned twice by women who are essentially criminals. In both cases, absconding with my deposit was proceeded by them picking a fight with me, and then using that as an excuse to keep the deposit! This will not happen with a legitimate provider.

I was using Zelle with a provider who we will name "Dynasty." I sent her a string of payments using Zelle. Later, I had an issue requiring a call to the Bank of America help desk.  The representative noted the string of payments to Dynasty, while emitting a low whistle.

Similarly, I'm sure you've seen all of the Venmo activity, of other clients using your provider. They need to revisit their privacy settings.

Moral of the story: Be careful with use of these payment methods!

I have used Venmo for a while, and just looked at my profile.

This is all due to my own stupidity, but I did not know that I was broadcasting so much personal information on my profile! Time for a make-over.

coachmyster,
TooTheMoon is right (Even though he can't spell). Do not ever give a Deposit. If you got to give anything (Give your word that you will definitely be there).  Anyways, I am in the Absecon/Galloway, NJ area for any Hobbyist that needs an escape. NO DEPOSIT NEEDED !!!  My prices and services are not negotiable.

Yeah, I showed up at a hotel for a visit only to realize that I had forgotten the envelope at home.

I texted the lady, told her what happened and said I had to run to find an ATM. She asked if I had Zelle, and I said yes. She said to send her the donation that way using her number, so I did.

Well, when I got my monthly statement it showed the Zelle transfer to the provider's name - apparently her REAL name and I'm assuming my name showed on her side. I don't know how to prevent that from happening as I can't find any setting in my online banking for Zelle that lets me change or hide my actual name.
