If Kobe only knew about TER ??? He could
have spent a few K had the time of his life...
but instead it is now going to cost him millions
and his reputation..... And some people want
to compare him to Michael....He can't even
fool around like Michael much less play ball like
him. Now the only Mike they can compare him to
is Mike Tyson.

What are you talking about? Michael also was busted for adultry. The only difference is that Kobe is being ACCUSED of rape. Micheal wasn't all that anyways. His pushoff of Bryon Russell, His penchant for traveling, ect..
Before we go bashing Kobe, remember we are all innocent until proven guilty. Kobe will be found innocent in the end.
Also about michael, Magic once said "you can't get to close to michael or it's a foul".

...accomplished without the Patriot Act coming into play.

I not only find the plastering of this gal's photos, but her home address, phone, etc all over the internet in extremely poor taste...all being done by people who don't really know squat about the facts of the case one way or the other.  Apparently a brand new type of tabloid "jouralism."  I wonder how those people would feel if a daughter or other female relative were to be a victim of rape & the tables they've so gleefully set were turned?

There's plenty of time for that sort of crap if the evidence proves Kobe to be innocent & the gal some shameless opportunist.  Until then, while the accused rightfully benefits from the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise, it seems many are unwilling to give his accuser the same benefit of doubt.

I have no idea if Kobe is guilty or not, but regardless of what the evidence is that's presented at trial & the ultimate outcome of the case, I'm concerned that this whole thing has set a dangerous precedent.  We've all heard many times that a huge percentage of rapes never go to trial as the victims don't want the publicity or scrutiny of their personal lives.  Anyone ever consider that in light of how much has already been revealed about this gal, true or not, that future rape victimes might be even less inclined than they are now to file charges?

Take it easy, Grey.We have a right to know, don't we?

"I wonder how those people would feel if a daughter or other female relative were to be a victim of rape & the tables they've so gleefully set were turned? " I agree, but before we turn the table, what if you or your son are wrongfuly accused of rape? Don't you want to find out who your accuser is and tell everybody what kind of liar she is? Kobe is entitled to the presumption of innocence, and if Kobe is innocent, why should we protect Kate Faber's name, and her boobs?

OK,peace, don't hit me!!!! stoooop!!!

OK okley, I'm already aware of where you stand on the issue, but I'll respond as you have responded to me.

Kobe already knows who his accuser is.  How else could he have known that he commited adultery (his admission) with her?  He has the right guaranteed by law to confront his accuser as part of the process...the same right I would have or my son would have if it were either of us who were accused.  Does the generic "we" have the right to know...where is that written?  The fact that someone not a party to the investigative process wants to know doesn't mean they have that right, certainly not before the trial!  The only thing accomplished by the type of crap that has taken place on the internet in the last few days is to likely make the selection of an impartial jury more difficult...well, that & to satisfy (or whet) the curoisty of some people.

You are perfectly willing to give Kobe the presumption of innocence as you should be, & if spite of what you might think so am I.  If he's innocent I hope that's proven conclusively, but if he's guilty hope that's proven conclusively as well.  But where you & I apparently part company in our views is that you've seemingly transformed that presumption to an acquittal before the trial & thus made the gal the guilty party by default.  As I said before, there is plenty of time for that AFTER the verdict.

You know I was going to put this whole sordid thing out of my mind until I heard a report this afternoon that there have been more than 11,000 emails sent to this gal since her info was published...most of them hateful, etc.  But the local sherrif's dept said there were also death threats which they were trying to trace & investigate.  Sure maybe those were just crank threats, but whoever sent them is scum nonetheless.

Hmmm...you made no comment regarding the last two paragraphs of my post?  Never mind...let's just put this thing to rest shall we?

Each piece of information posted on binary report is available freely and publicly. There was no investigative reporting or anything of the such. My response to her - deal with it. Play with fire, and you're going to get burned.

"play with fire?" Hmmmmm
You're definitely an "interesting" woman.

I think greywolf hit the nail on the head regarding reporting of rape, many women don't do it because of the fallout. (i.e. If you've ever had a drug overdose, then it's impossible to be a victim of non-stranger rape?) The men that rape often count on the fact that reporting is part of ongoing humiliation/degradation.

Don't kill me for the comparison, because I heard it on the news, and I don't follow professional sports much these days, (I'd be addicted if I did) but recall the first young lady that accused Mike Tyson of rape?  Hindsight being 20/20 and all....

The only thing I find of interest about THIS case is that Kobe has enough resources to defend himself;  Why do so many feel the need to assist?

For more information on statistics as well as where and how to report sexual assault I've added the link to a national sexual assault hotline.

I am not an attorney.  I don't know where you live, & there may be differences from state to state, but in Calif there are two exceptions to what you've said about information being freely & publicly available.  One is when the crime involves someone under-age, the other is the victim of an alleged rape.  I understand this is the case in Colorado as well..at least with reference to the latter circumstance.  Responsible journalists respect this, as does everyone else involved in the legal process.

Yeah, maybe she was playing with fire...but even if no rape took place, it seems Kobe was striking a few matches himself.

So let me lay out a hypothetical scenario.  You have a teenage daughter.  Tiger Woods, who like Kobe, has looks-fame-fortune-& probably many women willingly throwing themselves at him.  He has charisma, & squeaky clean image, & legions of fans.  He rapes your daughter.  She reports it, an investigation takes place, & the DA determines there is enough evidence to make an arrest & file charges.  When it hits the newswires the public simply can't believe it & assumes your daughter is lying.  OK..you knew that would happen, so you deal with it feeling the truth will come out at the trial.  But before that can happen  someone with a tabloid mentality digs around & discovers your daughter's identity & posts it all over the internet, putting her through hell in the process.  Would you really still have the same attitude then?

I see a slight flaw in your scenario. First I would like to say that I enjoy, & respect your posts.
I feel that Tiger or Kobe, epecially Kobe, wouldn't need to rape anyone for the sheer fact that so many women would and do throw themselves at him.
You appear to have missed the news that she wasn't even working that night. She made a special trip just to see Kobe. That doesn't mean that he's innocent, but it does lead to the assumption that she did go there to "spend time" with Kobe. I also wonder why no one heard her screams for help. Perhaps maybe (and this is a stretch) she didn't scream because she was never really in any danger.

I deliberately avoided putting too much into the scenario that wouldn't have added anything of substantive value to the point I was trying to make...so I said nothing about the how, why, etc.

As to Kobe not logically "needing" to rape a gal, I agree completely..perhaps I failed to make that as clear as I thought I had.  But need doesn't always determine factual actions either.  Clearly something I can see as part of the closing statement by the defense, but equally as clearly evidence of nothing in a court of law..only the court of public opinion.  One could agrue Charlie Sheen shouldn't have needed to see providers, & certainly Winona Ryder didn't need to shoplift.  Why someone does something isn't always knowable, but is almost always secondary to the action itself.

To respond to what you've said about no one hearing the gal scream & that she wasn't working on the night in question is simply something else for speculation.

The gal deserves the benefit of the doubt just as much as Kobe until the truth comes out at trial.  My mind is open on that issue until eveidence is heard.

But the question of guilt & innocence isn't what's been behind my several post anyway.  My issue has been with what I consider to be shameful & unethical posting of personal info about this gal on the internet...much of it nothing more than rumor & some of it I understand proving already to be false.  This is a high profile case, & I'll admit being concerned that that might be exactly the sort of thing that could in the futre make women more reluctant to file charges if they are raped.

And I'll say this now just to set the record straight for every one...I have a son & two daughters--no one I know has ever been involved in a rape case as plaintiff, defendant, or jurist.

You make some valid points reguarding Ms. Ryder, & Mr. Sheen. I will keep an open mind in the future.
Also, there is a rumor that Kobe may have been loaded on pain killers. Perhaps he wasn't thinking clearly. My personal feeling though is that his persona when high, is the same as when straight. I don't feel that way when alcohol is involved.
Thanks for the response and have a great day..
