Lex - please tell me what's wrong with this.. If I was in this position, one hello would be all. She was with a guy right - could you have taken him if he thought you were hitting on his girl? See, having been there I know not to address a girl who is with another guy no matter what she says, does, or implies. It might be that she wants to see what her man says and does in a case like this...

So please, it's better to have had your ego slapped around then being slapped around by the other guy - or worse, you beat him senseless and he presses charges - LOL... Or worse yet, he beats you senseless and presses charges using his girl as a defense...

Come to think of it, I’m seldom found in bars these days putting down a few beers unless it’s with you guys – and hitting on the girl sitting next to the other guy only starts the conversation – not a fight…

So, I'm sitting in a bar tonight with a buddy of mine from work, doing the usual Tuesday night "Happy Hour" thing -- knocking back a few beers talking (bitching) about work. A couple comes in to the bar -- him: late 50s, kinda nerdish. Her, mid 30s, very good-looking, Aussie by the sound of her accent. They sit down next to us, her in the seat next to mine...

Over the next hour or two as I'm sitting there talking to my buddy, I look over occasionally and this woman is like looking right at me from a foot away... so I say "Hi" or just cordially smile, and go back talking to my friend.

Finally, it's time to go, I pay the check and my buddy hits the head. The lady looks at me again, her boyfriend apparently off fetching the car, so I say, "Hi again"...

She mumbles something back, apparently a little drunk, so I say, "I'm sorry... excuse me?"

She repeats, in a slurred Aussie drawl, "Just who the hell are you?"

"Ooooookaaay..... Sorry. Nevermind. I'm nobody."

There's nothing like being "shot down" when you're not even going for a pick-up. Such an ego boost. It made me doubly-appreciate the ladies I've met though this hobby who have had the knack to make me feel like I was somebody special.

Thank you, ladies. Bless you.

Look at it this way, the so called date probably ditched her for the same reason, he got the car ok and drove off without her.

You lost nothing, she is nothing.

Maybe you just had a long hair hanging out of your nose (or worse).

Geez Lex,

Sounds like she had a problem with handling her alcohol.

You were being a polite gentleman.  She was the one looking in your direction.  I guess she was too intoxicated to realize at the time that courtesy goes a long way.

XoXo

I was born a poor ugly child.  My mommy and daddy tried their best.  As I grew, I became aware of sex...  It was not something that I had really thought about until my first wet dream, Ahhh   what a feeling.   Then I realize that I could "give myself a wet dream."  And back in those days (before the Lee H Oswald incident but after the Sen. McCarthy show) gals were not quite as "free" with their favors as they are now...   Well, lets just say that "dreaming" became a hobby.... Time went on and I was still a virgin....   In school, I did fairly well, but then I wound up graduating from college with "less than a liberal arts education."  Graduate school did the trick.  And what tricks there were to be learned....

Well the years go by, and still I don't marry anyone, and in between girlfriends, and way before the world wide web took off.... I found myself driving down the street - and see a massage parlor.... I go in and to my surprise - these ladies were georgous.  And they were nice. and they didn't notice that I was an ugly shade of green.... (or if they did, they did not comment on it).

Time went on, and I met the future ms. Ex. Superdude.  After our marriage soured (when I realized that although smart, she had the commen sense of a lemming flying over a cliff), I was alas in a fine state of affairs - wouldn't hobby - cause I at that time, believed in the fidelity of marriage, wasn't really up to the ms. Ex....  and there were no MILFs around for fun.... what was a poor bizzaro guy to do?

Well I becamse a monk, for about 6 years.  Then she divorced me.  and I was freed.

Since then, I have been "shot down" by some civies - and agree, it is really a "boost"...

I just wish that civie ladies would take several pages from the "Manual for Escort Providers"  These are the high points:
First, we are not all creeps.
Second, talk with us - What do you have to loose?  You may find that our intelligence and humor are refreshing.
Third, however you may wish to phrase it, we do like to play!  and we want to play with you.
Forth, no one likes to be the object of pity.  If you are not interested, please tell us - in a polite way - don't lead us on.

Stuck-up people - ever notice how many Playboy Playmates list that as a turn-off?  Well, a lot of women are "stuck-up people."  So Lex - I agree - and for the record - I think that lady missed out on a potentially very interesting conversation!  so sad....

Rudeness is never attractive in any situation.

and you knew she was Aussie...Maybe a Good day!would have helped the first time instead of just "hi"...lol

then upon leaving...(Why did you wait...andnot hit on her while he was in the John?...you could have not said "Hi" again...Maybe a bit of charmwitha "You know we don't get to many Aussie women in these parts...let alone a great looking dollie as yourself"...

I'm surprised at you Lex!...For a guy with always some witty words on this board to leave your vocabulary at home?

She was drunk and with someone else.

He was with a buddy talking "shop" and was not interested in picking up the drunk woman with someone else but said "Hi" once and then again while leaving.

She was apparently a bit tipsy and was surprised that Lex would came over and say "Hi" again when she had been staring at Lex's buddy all night long after just getting rid of her nerdy boy friend.

Therefore...Who the hell are you?

Can we talk!

...I'm still trying to figure out how to get "Lex" to pass through the looking glass and out into the real world.

On the plus side, humiliating stories such as this one make for great conversation at work.

The woman was 18" away from me and kept staring at me. The "Hello again" was just a polite was of saying, "Why do you keep staring at me?"

I wasn't hitting on her...that's why I was somewhat taken back by what she said.

It's a moot point. Next time I'll stick with the tried and true: I'll just ignore her.

Not a misread - but now that that I've had time to think about it - I would have said something like "WTF do you want - oh, using the reflection of my crome dome as a mirror are we"

Or more in line of "yes, may I help you? It appears that you are staring at me - oh, it's the guy sitting behind me your looking at"

It is a moot point - but as you noted already - makes for conversation doesn't it - LOL...

It appears that you waited too long. She was interested but then two hours later was too drunk to remember what she was interested in. You should have offered to show her your boomerrang, it might have refreshed her memory.
