Your not much at risk from DATY but the provider can be at risk for bacterial infections, spreding oral herpes etc.

Herpes can be transimtted through DATY but initial symptoms generally don't set in for 7 to 10 days (typically, but one can carry the virus for months or even years before symptoms appear).

The symptoms you described do not sound like Herpes at all, I only bring it up because you mentioned that you are new at this and if so, you really need to get educated on the risks of STD's and get the facts of how they can be transmitted.

If the toungue thing continues, go see a doctor. If embarrassed, there's no need to say that you saw a providor, just say that you recently had a new sexual partner, they wont ask further. You're the best judge of the health of your own body. If it seems like something's not right, get it checked out and be healthy and safe.

Thanks for your advice.  I think I'm okay... probably just not used to rubbing my tongue on something for long periods.  Forgive my ignorance, but if I can contract oral herpes through DATY, then can I also contract genital herpes through BBBJ?  Is there a website or book that provides good education on STD?

If the provider had a bit of difficulty and you were down there for a LONG time...you may have just gotten a bit of a raw tongue.  I, actually, USED to have a problem and my boyfriend (ex now) would come up with a fat lip.  Yes...Funny, but True!  But he was down there at least an hour.

Thanks, Doc.  However, I'm really depressed after getting "educated" now.  The risk of STD seems too great to want to continue this hobby.  Maybe ignorance is bliss.

Life in general, and the hobby in particular, are not risk free.  It's important to understand the risks, but also to keep them in perspective.  The roads would be a lot safer is we set the speed limit at 5 MPH.  We don't do that because we trade off safety for utility.  It's worth more to us to get around than to be absolutely safe.  Those who participate in the hobby trade off safety for sexual pleasure.  Not a bad tradeoff if you ask me, but that's just my opinion, and you have to decide for yourself.
