I read a post on another board by a hobbyist who recently bought a new car, despite the fact that his 8 year old car still ran decently, in part because he feared having to explain to the wife why he was in so-and-so city instead of at work or on the golf course, etc.
I used to worry about this as well when I was married and I thank my lucky stars that I never had this experience, but with so many hobbyists driving to other cities to hobby, the law of averages dictates that someone must have faced this problem.
"The Club Key," when I was an AMP. Had to have AAA come and saw it off. Kind of embarrassing having all the guys coming in and out of the AMP lookin you down.
for flat tires, no start! I've had a break down within minutes of getting home. The lady promised me that her mechanic would have taken care of the car... skb
A kid had just gotten a brand new Mercedes for his 18th (lucky bastard) and decided to take a couple of buddies out to the strip club. Not a sanctioned outing (sneaky bastard). He left the keys on a half-wall while getting a lap dance (stupid bastard). And they got jacked! (Poor Bastard)
My ATF and I were leaving a meeting place once and her car had a flat. I had showered, gotten all cleaned up, and put my suit back on when we came out and found her car. It was about 95 degrees and as luck would have it, a construction guy came out of the motel at the same time, had a compressor and filled up her tire. I tried to give him some money but he wouldn't take it. I then followed her to the tire place to make sure she didn't have a blow out.
