These ladies are making $50 US for 2 hours and it's a total meat market environment. At least the ladies here (except for maybe the asian agencies) for the most part are doing this of their own free will.  This is all fun and games between consenting adults. Not so sure about elsewhere. So flame away if you must.

absolutely nauseating. The thought of young girls being forced into this is upsetting on so many levels, bad enough some of the women here are disgusted with most of the pigs they have to see. One form of this exploitation is the growing phenomenon of Child Sex Tourism (CST). Persons who travel from their own country to a foreign country to engage in a commercial sex act with a child commit CST. The crime is fueled by weak law enforcement, the Internet, ease of travel, and poverty.
Tourists engaging in CST typically travel from their home countries to developing countries. Sex tourists from Japan, for example, travel to Thailand, and Americans tend to travel to Mexico or Central America. “Situational abusers” do not intentionally travel to seek sex with a child but take advantage of children sexually once they are in country. “Preferential child sex abusers” or pedophiles travel for the purpose of exploiting children.

Global Efforts Made to Address the CST Phenomenon

In response to the growing phenomenon of CST, intergovernmental organizations, the tourism industry, and governments have begun to address the issue.
World Congresses Against Commercial Sexual Exploitation convened in Stockholm and Yokohama in 1996 and 2001, drawing significant international attention to the issue.
The World Tourism Organization established a task force to combat CST and promulgated a Global Code of Conduct for Tourism in 1999.
Over the last five years, there has been a worldwide increase in the prosecution of child sex tourism offenses. Today, 32 countries have extraterritorial laws that allow the prosecution of their nationals for crimes committed abroad, regardless of whether the offense is punishable in the country where it occurred.

Combating Child Sex Tourism

Several countries have taken commendable steps to combat child sex tourism:
France’s Ministry of Education along with travel industry representatives developed guidelines on CST for tourism school curricula, and state-owned Air France allocates a portion of in-flight toy sales to fund CST awareness programs.
Brazil implemented a national and international awareness campaign on sex tourism.
Italy requires tour operators to provide information regarding its extraterritorial law on child sex offenses.
Swedish tour operators have signed a code of conduct agreeing to educate its staff about CST.
Cambodia established police units focused on combating child sex tourism and has arrested and extradited foreign pedophiles.
Japan prosecutes its citizens caught having sex with children in other countries.
Operation Predator

The United States strengthened its ability to fight child sex tourism last year through passage of the "Trafficking Victim Protection Reauthorization Act" and the "PROTECT Act". Together these laws enhance awareness through the development and distribution of CST information and increase penalties to up to 30 years for engaging in child sex tourism.
In the first eight months of "Operation Predator" (a 2003 initiative to fight child exploitation, child pornography, and child sex tourism), U.S. law enforcement authorities arrested 25 Americans for child sex tourism offenses.

Overall, the global community is awakening to the horrific issue of child sex tourism and is starting to take important initial steps.

I love this line of work, but I am so against people being forced into it!  To me it's the difference between having awesome consenting sex and being gang raped over and over day after day.

Not so much that I love what is happening, but I love the honesty, the exposure, and feeling grateful for the differences. How blessed are we that we can live our lives and live a second one (sometimes more luxuriously) by doing something that (sometimes) gives us pleasure or at least doesn't give us pain. These ladies don't necessarily WANT to do this, but they HAVE to. One girl is sold and is told she has to work off her price by living there a year and paying the woman who bought her. The girl understands this and doesn't try to leave. She accepts her responsibility, but why does that have to be her fate? If you don't want this life, you should be able to pursue happiness in other ways.... right?

So, are you arguing that these providers in the Asian agencies are working of their own free will?  That would strike me as quite a stretch.  Please elaborate.

Or are you saying that these gals are for the most part being trafficked and therefore are agreeing with the OP?  If that is the case, why are you saying that they are misinformed?

My point is, the Asian girls working in LA (and I've visited plenty of them) are not among the trafficked sex workers. The poster does most of his business in So. Cal. I just thought he was speaking out of his ass and should know better than to make a statement like that and insinuate that all Asian girls are suspect.

and some are not.  We'll never know for sure how many fall into one category versus another.

I have personally gotten to know 2 K gals over the many years I've been hobbying and based on that I'd say there is no fine line between fully consensual participation and forced servitude.

I also grant that the living conditions of many of these gals are not ideal.

On the other hand, consider what the alternates are for these gals:  Servitude in a factory with horrible conditions and pay - and that's if they are lucky enough to find a job.

It is laudable to try and expose the worst actors who more or less kidnap gals and treat them badly.  I also think that legalization of sex work is the single greatest tool we can give to them because it will lead them to be free to come forward and denounce their captors without fear of being jailed themselves.

As too often happens, the zealousness of a movement ends up causing more harm than good to those whom said movement professes to want to help.   There is also the fact that we, the legitimate sex-work industry, will be caught up in the net that these reformers plan to use.

Navigating past the junkies and hustlers in San Francisco's Tenderloin district, You Mi Kim found the metal security door she was looking for, and pressed the buzzer.

Inside Sun Spa massage parlor, the manager saw You Mi on the surveillance camera and threw some sea salt over the threshold -- a Korean practice to ward off bad luck.

It was July 2003. It had been five months since You Mi was lured from her home in South Korea by international sex traffickers, who had tricked the debt-ridden college student with promises of a high-paying hostess job in America.

After forcing her into sex work to pay them nearly $20,000, the traffickers had finally let her go. But freedom was elusive.

Traffickers had taken all her earnings, yet she still faced a $40,000 shopping debt back home -- the reason she left for an American job that promised big pay. Now, no fewer than six creditors were circling her family in South Korea.

Any kind of job she could get as an illegal immigrant -- cleaning homes or washing dishes in a restaurant -- wouldn't pay her debts in time. She wanted to protect her family from the shame of bankruptcy. She wanted her life back.

You Mi felt she had no choice.

On her first day of freedom, she took an unlicensed Korean taxi from Los Angeles to another illicit massage parlor in San Francisco.

The door of the Sun Spa opened. The manager, a Korean woman in her 50s, led You Mi inside and quickly handed her off to the masseuse with the most seniority.

For the next four months, You Mi would become a person she never imagined. She and five other sex workers would share a dingy apartment on O'Farrell Street across from the Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre. She'd spend her waking hours at Sun Spa, having sex with more than a dozen men a day, six days a week, and scurrying into secret hideaways during police raids.

She would find the rumors about San Francisco to be true: It was a booming stop on the international sex-trafficking route. There was lots of money to be made. Customers plentiful, tips great.

But first, she would have to surrender her last shred of dignity.

The first stop on the Sun Spa tour was the five rooms on the bottom floor, used for the regulars. They were tiny, less than 50 square feet and bare except for a cot with one white sheet, a shower and a small painted nightstand in one corner. A mirror covered most of the wall near the bed. A fluorescent ceiling light cast a pallid green glow over the room.
Upstairs, You Mi saw four rooms decorated to look like legitimate Chinese acupressure and massage rooms. They were cleaner, with massage tables instead of beds. The condoms were hidden.

"This is where we bring the new customers," You Mi's guide explained.

Next was the kitchen. The woman showed You Mi an empty water cooler bottle where she was to dispose of the used condoms.

Off the kitchen there was a changing room with lockers. You Mi put on a long, sleeveless Korean dress that sex traffickers had made her wear in Los Angeles.

"That's not sexy enough," her new co-worker said, instructing her to put on a bikini top and a sarong slit all the way to the waistband.

The last stop on the tour was the bell, in a back room off the kitchen, used to summon the women when customers arrived. Within earshot, You Mi saw a half-dozen Korean women lounging, watching TV and eating.

Suddenly, a loud ring cut through the noise of the TV. The women dropped their chopsticks and hustled out to the lobby, arranging themselves on an L-shaped sofa so the customer could make his choice. You Mi followed the pack.

She sat on the sofa, feeling like a dog that had responded to its master's whistle.

What You Mi knew of San Francisco was limited to the two blocks between Sun Spa and the cramped studio apartment she shared with her co-workers. It was in the heart of the Tenderloin, the end of the line for San Francisco's most desperate: the addicted looking for a street-corner fix, the homeless looking for a cheap motel, the men looking to buy sex.
