Guys,

Say you've been seeing a provider for a year or two.  She had been grandfathering you at a lower rate.

If one day, she tells you, "I need to bring you my current rates now," do you REALLY not know that you'd been recieving a grandfathered rate??

I have had guys say, "Oh!  What are your new rates???"  In two years, you've never looked at my website, ads, etc.?  Come on.

So my question is, do you look at a provider's website, ads, etc periodically even AFTER you've been seeing her?  My guess is yes but I could be wrong.

I look at her site just to see what's there etc.
However the only lady I've seen at a grandfathered rate was someone I communicated with often and I knew about her increase. She told me I would get her original rate though. After a few sessions at the old rate I just started paying her the new rate.

I figure she will let me know what she expects monetarily and otherwise from that point on. It is her business after all. It is not my job to babysit you business. Only reason I would check if I haven't had contact in a while, I am informed of new pics, asked my opinion, or I am following your blog. I usually don't follow blogs. One should never expect ones customers to stay on top of your ads or check your website after they have no need to. It just is not there job.

I believe a provider should always let you know  way in advance if she is going to be raising your rate...never tell them when they are booking a date wait until after the date to let them know the next time they visit  as to not ruin the mood and that gives them the option of wether they want to pay the new rate or not

Well, let me re-think that. I might not look at her website very often, if ever, after I've met a favored provider. I would probably see her ads from time to time however as I look at ads often to just see who's in town.

OTOH, I have no problem with a provider who raises her rates from time to time. Hell, I expect my rates/remuneration for my work grows over time, why shouldn't hers?

I will tell you though of the most memorable financial transactions I ever had with a steady and well-loved provider was when we met up on St. Patrick's Day one year. She knew I was proudly Irish and at the end of the session, she picked up the envelope I'd left for her and said "This one's on me, Paddy".

I will never forget this sweet, thoughtful and loving gesture. And to make it even better, she was English....and if you know much about Irish-Anglo history, you'll understand how significant and meaningful this was...I must say it even weakened the 25 generations of in-bred anti-English feelings I'd been raised with.

Interesting question...my clients know when I change anything on my site, i.e., new pictures, specials, anything. That is the regulars that I have, I can't speak for anyone else, but mine do look.

As for upping the price on a regular, never happen. They deserve more respect than that. Although I think my prices are comparable to many.... so not necessary to change them.

My issue was just when he says, "Your rates went up?"  when I know that he browses my ads/website periodically.  Hes even commented on my new ads!

not that I have a problem with paying a girl her fair rate
but why bother 'grandfathering' in the first place?

just don't grandfathering anyone but instead offer a limited discount or prepaid sessions
seems much simpler that way.

Once I have met her and decided I want to see her again, I really have no reason to look at her site.  You bring up a good point, and I probably should more often, but I do not.

I have gone back to look at providers sites after a visit.  I do enjoy reviewing the pictures and seeing what they are up to generally..

But usually the rates are on a separate page and I wouldn't look there again, so I could easily see a year passing and not looking at that (if I was visiting regularly, if I hadn't seen them for a while I would for sure look at the rates).

What, me?  Come on.  You guys brag if you get an extra peck on the cheek.  Now all of the sudden you didn't know you were getting special treatment?  that's crap.

They do look at your/my website but I believe them when they tell me they don't know what the "new rate" Is..

Let's be honest.. We as humans do not pay attention to much unless it affects US!
So why look at the rates. They already know what they are....

Cut them alittle slack... It could be soo soo much worse

First and foremost I view this as a business transaction.  So, like my other transactions I must know the  current information.  In the hobby, I think it's a a good idea if for no other reason than to hold to the mantra that a gentleman comes prepared.

In the past, I have been offered to be grandfathered, but politely turned down the gesture.  Why? Because I never wanted to be viewed as someone that was taking advantage of someone's goodwill (However genuine).

And of the ladies that I've gotten to know, they unanimously concede that those who take the offer eventually lose just a bit of shine in their eyes.

The guy who pays less but has been seeing you for awhile will still be here when the guy who flew in and paid your current rate is long gone.

The issue comes when you can't "afford" see the regular at the lower rate because you keep getting booked at the higher rate. My time slots are very limited so this has been an issue for me when they ask if I'm available at the last minute and I'm in the middle of setting up a same day appointment with someone new for the higher rate. I go with "first booked" rather than choosing between loyalty or a higher rate.

I arrange for a lady to stay a couple hours, and after that she says that clock must be running fast, turns it around so we cannot see it, and sits down on my lap for a couple hours more.  Kind of hard to miss that as special treatment.

She calls up and says "I missed talking with you, if you are in town do you want to come over for dinner?"  Same thing.

But WHY would I go back to relook at her web site?  No reason to do so.

Pleanty of ladies have politely mentioned that their rates increased.  Others have not said so.  What is "crap" about not drooling over a web site when you have already seen the real thing?
