Hi

I am putting this out there because it happened to me recently and I feel terrible about it.

So, here it goes.

A client contacted me for an appointment with references. Great.

I tell client please call and confirm appointment by 8pm. ( appt is for 10pm)

Client for whatever reason does not call, but instead sends an email. 10 mins after 8pm explaining why he cant call, dinner with clients etc... It would have been fine and dandy had I been sitting at my computer. But alas, I was not.

Needless to say, I did not make said appointment as client never called me.

I understand things happen. But when a provider asks for you to call and confirm, it is imperative that somehow you call and confirm. I need to hear your voice before we meet.

I have sent an early morning email to said client to explain dilemma and offering to make up with extra time. But I have not heard back as of yet.

I have never not showed up for an appointment and only once had to cancel an appointment due to an emergency. This is not how I conduct myself or my business.

I feel bad.

Please gentlemen, when she asks you to do something as simple as call and confirm, do so and a great and stress free time can be had by both.

just thought I would put this out there..

You expected a call, and when said call did not come, you assumed he was flaking?

But he did make an attempt to contact you, explaining his predicament... I feel for the guy... I mean he thinks the dinner with wife will be over by 7, it runs till 830... Some men have no way to step away and make a call.

I discovered a solution to this that seems to have worked for me and my clients. I tell them to email me, as I receive my emails straight to my phone, and I am alerted. This way I can always receive emails no matter where I am.

I hope you two can work it out to reschedule

great idea.. He was at a business dinner here in nyc. I understand what you are saying. But, the requirement is not to CALL at 8, just by 8 or before.. 8 pm being the latest..

I will do the phone thing. Will avoid any future problems. I hope I hear from him also, he seemed cool in his emails..

I appreciate your advice.

:)

why does it have to be two hours before?

What's wrong with calling and hearing his voice earlier in the day, the day before, or a few days before if it was booked in advance?

checking my email when the client was told specifically to CALL. If he can't call, he should have made that clear the day BEFORE when you suggested he do so. Had he simply said, "I may not be in a position to call, but I will text or email so be sure to check," all good, but I too won't see someone without hearing their voice first. You can tell more over the phone than via email. You did not do anything wrong. He was told to call, he could not, you assumed he was NOT confirming and did not want to hunt him down. I don't chase after clients when they don't confirm...I simply do something else.

was for him to call you if that is all possible... leaving him the ability to NOT call you, and say he was not in a private spot or whatever....

IT should have been more firm...

I'm not sure enough to require compensation but it's your business.  I think there should be no 'outs'.  The email should be within a certain window.  If you want a voice call, you should say so.

both parties need to be clear on how they can send/receive communications.
Many of us have hobby phones that are not turned on except when we are scheduling or outside the incall location, so a call or text at any other time will not go thru.  if you've been using email, I think you should continue to use email; although, if you are in the window where a client is driving or flying, you have to expect that he can't get emails.  I find it very frustrating when on occasion I have a confirmed apppointment and the provider emails me about 30 minutes beforehand wanting to reschedule or otherwise with a request - especially if they want a text/email reply - which is not possible while driving to the appointment.

I don't know the details of what the client told you, but it sounds like he was in town for a business meeting and scheduled the appointment for afterwards - if he let you know that, then I think 4:53 would be to late to send him a supplemental request, as he probably was tied up in business meetings and could not very well access either his hobby phone or email.

A lot of girls say "call me when you get here and I'll give you the room" and most often that simply means "get in touch". I usually just text and I get the room # back in a text. If you require actually hearing someone's voice youreally should have told him that. Also since you had communicated with him via email before, would have been smart to check your email somehow after not hearing from him at 8pm.

Good point. I can't imagine being in this business without email, but I actually tossed my phone and use google voice now, that I don't work much. Seeing 1-2 guys a week, does not require me to have my head in a phone all day.

I think a confirmation call, especially if requested, would simply be a matter of common courtesy.  I can see how some might fear to upset the applecart with bothersome messages prior to an appointment with a provider, but this is surely not such a case of that.

Why the same rules of courtesy that apply in the rest of the world don't automatically apply in the world of pay-for-play sex is not immediately clear —but, then again, it's not clear why they don't automatically apply in "the rest of the world," either.

Life goes on somehow.

Honestly, I believe she was more than clear.. in the world I live in, "Call and confirm" means pick up the phone, & call someone. I am the same way, & every appointment I schedule, I give the gent a confirmation time & tell them to CALL at that specified time.. if I do not get a call, I assume they have cancelled. If for whatever reason, the gent can't call at that time, then they have the option of sending a text or an e-mail.. but when a lady says "call to confirm" that means only one thing.

Up until 2 years ago, I did not have a Smartphone, & thus could only receive e-mails when I was at home in front of the laptop. After quite a few situations similar to the OP's, I finally upgraded to a Smartphone. The OP was not in the wrong.. & if he was able to "sneak away" to send an e-mail, he could have at least sent a text instead, explaining his situation, & that he would call when he got away from the business dinner.

just E-mail him your location the night before and he will be there and call you from the lobby or wherever..some providers have all these hops you have to jump through when it is so simple to set it up..

He can't cut out on some clients to make a call or even text, but he can send an email?

I'm not sure what was up with him, but you have no reason to feel bad.

You set the rules, and it's our job to obey.

Because we can find out if you are crazy or not prior. That's why. Not saying you, but fuck we have to talk to you. It is fucking stupid to email him your location not knowing if he is serious or a weirdo.

Yes I agree some have you jump through hoops and it is annoying. Me? I take shit seriously and if I can't talk to you, there is something wrong about it and there will be no appt. I make everything very easy. No hoops.

Your advice to her is not good man. She is doing things right. If he don't know how to call or text that is his problem. Only a provider would completely understand what I am saying... we go through NCNS and all of that. I am glad you don't play games but some do. We don't have time to waste waiting on someone who doesn't show.

That is not what she said. She said call by so and so time if you wanted the appt. Some girls say a day or more, others a few hours. She told him and if he didn't listen that is his problem.

Most girls on TER do not do appts that are not setup 48hrs in advance. Me personally, I am cool with last minutes if given time to screen.

5pm is less than 24 hours from said 10pm appt. Some girls will move on. Personally it depends on who etc. if I choose to.

To sit and wait hoping a guy does an unconfirmed appt is a waste of time and money. Be respectful of other's time. I had someone that earlier in the week wanted an appt but could not tell me exactly when, just the day... I was ok with that as long as we had communication going on. i will not flack a girl for doing what is best for her.

i do agree..if the guy has a track record..there should be no need to call..i can see your point about new clients..you never really know..too bad the girls have to see first-timers..but it is all part of the game..i personally have never had to call..but i have been around awhile..the word does get out..newbies are a different breed..

First, I am outcall only.

Second, It was a same day apt and my response to him to contact me was sent at around 5 pm.

Third..we had a few emails back and forth because he gave me the wrong email address for his reference which turned out to be fine, so I know he read the email concerning the phone call. He enever mentioned the phone call would be a problem. I am not a mind reader.

fourth..he was traveling on the train while emailing me.

My request to contact me to confirm was clear about the time "by 8 pm or before" He had time to take care of the confirmation while going to his business dinner.

Since it is outcall, for sure I am not walking out the door until I have conformation..

I do appreciate the different points of view. I was just trying to give you gentlemen a chance to see our side of things.

Sometimes things do come up, so a conformation call is a must for me..

A text would have been a temporary fix as I still would have needed to hear his voice for my piece of mind. But that could have taken place after his dinner.

As I said in the OP post I emailed him and I never heard back. Hey I tried to fix it..

and life goes on......

thanks again for all the input..greatly appreciated..
