More like to explain the lack of influx, compared to the coming Armageddon usually broadcast in the hyperventilating  press.  Literally there were just six more visiting p411 escorts than usual.  Their small typical number makes any influx seem large percentage wise.  

But if you had only the influx of local and visiting escorts in order to detect an event, you'd be hard pressed to guess a Superbowl was happening.

I've been collecting some data on the influx of escorts to the Superbowl.  I used p411 stats as a proxy for the percentage of increase in escorts.

My first sample of escorts available in Minnesota was the evening of Jan 24, 2017.  At that time there were 175 active p411 ads, with 32 of them being visitors.  At the peak influx on the evening of Feb 3, 2017, there were 184 active p411 ads, with 38 of them being visitors.

That corresponds to a 5% increase in all escorts, local and visitor, and an 18% increase in visiting escorts.

Were more expensive,  hotels more expensive,  and cold as shit outside.... does not surprise me that few travelled.   An interesting study that would be difficult to do would be donation inflation during those times..... the ladies would certainly be incurring more costs.

Your data is missing a baseline. You need to include either historical data from MN or data from other midwest cities (like Chi) to rule out a post xmas bump in tours. In addition, using a Wednesday as a low date and comparing to a weekend high may be flawed.

Try this again the next 4 years when the game is in a warmer climate. Also compare the Superbowl city's stats to Las Vegas and see if there is a trend. Maybe include A few other large metro areas with strong SW presence like NYC, NOLA, or San Fran for migration patterns.

I have 13 consecutive days (so far) of data.   Starting 1/24/2018 the number of providers per day is 175, 176, 179, 179, 177, 178, 176, 180, 183, 184, 183, 178, 180.

about 3 of them were glaringly obvious sting ads. That's not counting the ones that weren't obvious. I was following closely on the off chance that one of my out-of-town favorites would visit.
