Apparently third graders are now to be feared in schools... this is nuts! Check out the article.

What kills me is that police departments waste money and time going after us but ignore the larger problems that are going on in society, such as the schools.

It's pretty scary in schools today.  We have to be aware of kids of all ages wanting to harm their peers and teachers.  It makes working in a school a lot  more stressful than it used to be.

It is for the parents or heck i dunno superman?

Most kids I see just need the fear of god
put in them and some extra chores.

After of coarse, they get a good ole fashioned ass whoopin.

What ever happened to the power of the shed?

When we were bad growing up and momma said
"Wait till your dad comes home." We knew we were
gonna get it and good. I am 2 of 5.

Soon as he walked in the door, Mom would say, Do you know what ____ did today? and with a look of
sheer horror, I had to go pick out a belt and off to the shed we went.

Yep, and you see how well I turned out.
LOL

Some Kids in my neighborhood, busted out my neighbors rear car window because she told them not to curse.

I asked her if she pressed charges or talked to the parents. She said that she did talk to the parents and they did nothing.

HUMMMM
I saw a couple of kids beating another kid up and I rescued the boy.  My car was later paint balled.

rotten lil brats. Wish i could shoot em wit a bb gun, right in the ass! BuT NOOOOOOOOO that is against the law.

It all starts at the home.

remember, (1) the media's job is to sell you a paper; (2) we haven't seen the police investigation or talked to the cops; and (3) they weren't slick enough to pull it off.  Probably got to the stage of "johnny, why are you taking the ashtray to school?  oh, you're gonna bounce it off the teachers' head?  And janey and billy too?"

Apparently, a bunch of people trying to get laid poses a much larger threat to society than dangerous children, whose parents obviously don't have a clue, and even more disturbingly, don't seem to give a shit.

Parents are no longer responsible for teaching kids the basics, like respect and self-esteem. That ball has been handed off to the school systems, where it has become more important than teaching English, History, and Mathematics. Now, at least, the kids can feel good about themselves when they graduate with a C- average.

When he was about five, by apparently well adjusted son was at a Club Med and met up with a like aged lad.  Before long they had taken to hatching a plan to kill everyone in the world (I had keen hearing back then.)  Fortunately they started to make a list of exceptions (I made the top 10!) and within another ten minutes they had moved on to more doable and less drastic plans.

I, myself, had dreams of making an atomic bomb out of things that I found in my dad's work shed.

It's a wonder I'm here to tell you about it.

As our good friend, Charlie Darwin would say, if you want DeadBeatedness to evolve and flourish just pay derelicts to reproduce and the more they do the better the pay for their work. Eventually through this scheme the deadbeats will overwhelm society and turn it into a liberal's utopia. You are correct, these parents don't give a shit, they are not getting paid for that, only for production of more deadbeats.

does it have to involve child abuse? Whipping some kid with a belt isn't going to take away whatever twisted thoughts they have in their head. The jails are full of violent offenders who have been abused as children.

I'm not saying that it's LE's job to parent these children. I was merely commenting that with things like this going on, LE comes after us and it appears to be a waste of resources and time.

As for how to solve this, I don't have a clue. In theory, I can argue for the regulation of possible influences, etc... but let's face it... these things happen and it's not a new phenomena. Anybody remember the Texas school shooting in the 60's or Columbine, Virginia Tech? What may be a new phenomena is these children's access to these items, parents who don't take an active role in their lives, a lost connection between parents and schools, etc...

Abuse---Out of the question! Properly disciplined children turn into self-disciplined adults. It's the early teaching that we seem to have lost. It starts with simple neglect. A child will do anything to get you to look at them, including acting badly enough to get hit. Look at your children. Make eye contact. That's where the real love is. It's in their eyes. The rest comes easy.

"I got my ass whupped when I was bad, and I turned out OK"

And so did all the other kids who were physically beaten for "being bad". None of them were ever bad again, and none ever grew up with any pschological problems from being beaten, and the world is a much better place today because generations of children were beaten when they were bad. And even though this process was working so well, today you're not allowed to beat anybody anymore, and the world is falling apart because of it. If only we could beat people for being bad, and just keep beating them and beating them until they stop being bad, or until they die (whichever comes first), then life would be a paradise. And if not, at least we'd all feel better if we got to beat a few people (those of us who are never bad, of course)

No one ever asks if the third grade teachers deserve being plotted against.  I know mine did.  They can be freakin' evil.

Maybe a 3rd grader can get murderous thoughts, but the ones that they have aren't planned. They tend to respond to them without planning. If they want somebody dead, I mean even for 3rd graders, they couldn't fail to hit on the idea of trying to get a gun.  It's also impossible to me that all of these kids happen to hate one teacher.

I would think that those packages are there for boasting rights.

It would be bad enough, though, if they used one of those packets on a classmate.

I think the solution would be to spank them. Send them to their rooms during and for a 5 day suspension. I know, that's very un-liberal. Of course, that pre-supposes they have a parent at home at all times.

The way to develop the highest level of self-regulation and self-control is to be in the presence of well regulated, self-controlled, and attentive parents (or parental surrogates) during your 1st three years of life.

Well in my opinion the experts are right in this case and it is very unlikely serious harm would have come to this teacher. This is a red flag however especially for the leaders of the group. They need family therapy and possibly intervention with the juvenile justice system, mainly to get the childrens and their parents attention. Hitting these kids with a belt as was mentioned is blatant child abuse and not helpful. Nothing good comes from adults hitting children. Their are ways to be an effective parent with discipline without resorting to violence.  Spanking is an aggressive act and parents need to be very careful that they are not angry when and if they spank their children as it is easy to get carried away. The chances of children that age committing murder or suicide are extremely low although possible. They certainly could have accidently hurt the teacher. The leaders of this group and their parents need help.

very wise observation. They are truely in crisis, and a few personality disorders may be involved as well.  That is no way even an angry childs reaction, the whole "plot" deal worries me more than who needs a spanking. thats a sure sign of a personality disorder I believe.
