How do escorts protect themselves from herpes? They can still catch it with a condom on. Symptoms can lie dormant. Hobbyists aren't always honest. So what's the deal here? Are herpes just not that big a deal?

I'm not a veteran like you guys but someone recently opened my eyes to this whole herpes skin to skin situation. I'm just looking for some reassurance. The more I look online the worse it gets in my head, especially with all the anti escort people and conflicting information. So I decided to the ask the experts, hence coming here. I really don't want to catch anything to bring back to the wife and I don't want to give this up.

Do providers turn people away if they see something upon meeting? I don't they do. It would be an awkward conversation that's for sure.

I know many ladies that work in the hobby and they do turn away clients because they see the signs of herpes and other STDs. Condoms and dams are not 100% in effective in preventing any STD and you can get herpes by kissing. If the risk is to high for you you should not be seeing escorts. As for thing you can do to protect yourself, First avoid uncovered anything if you want to minimize your risk. Herpes can be spread by any skin to skin contact both the oral and the genital kinds. There is a well know sports radio personality in Utah with a herpes infection of the elbow he got from wrestling. While condoms are no where near 100% effective at stopping it, they do reduce the risk by reducing skin contact. Second do your own visual inspection look at both her genital area, oral area and if it is on the menu anal area. If something does not look right avoid contact. Awkward conversation be damned. Please note you do not need to make it look like you are inspecting her as there is plenty of other reasons to look there if you get what I am saying. Third get screened for STD often, this will help protect you wife from your extracurricular activities. Forth, avoid ladies who preform sex acts you are not comfortable with. The more risks the person you are with takes the higher your risks are. Remember a HJ is the safest sexual act so you may want to stick with a FBSM provider. Fifth, bath after your done and pee as well as it can wash away some of the germs before they can infect you. Always remember there is no such thing as "safe sex" there is only safer sex. Other than abstinence there is noway to reduce the risks of catching an STD to 0%.  Every one must stick to there own comfort levels in this hobby. I am OK with BB oral but everything else must be covered. I get checked monthly for STDs and I shower first thing when I get home after each session. By playing safe we not only reduce are own risk but everyone else's risks as well. So go have fun but play safe or just stay home.

And I had to do a full 5 page survey/essay on herpes, when I was in college-. I can tell you, there are many things to look out for besides herpes. in 1995 1 out of  every 4 people hav some form of herpes. 1 or 2.

How not to catch herpes if you are sexually active?

#1. Inspect your partners mouth/lips for cold sores (even a bump covered in makeup)

#2. Inspect your partners Private. Keep in mind it is typically to painful for these people to even piss much less have sex while they are going through the in slot stages. But Women should look for scaling off of skin (flaky patches) or anything red (obviously it's easier to inspect a male partner)

#3. To inspect a female. There will always be an unusual scent in females who have any type of STD. (remembering back when I worked in the operating room and we had a female patient who had some issues with an STD and an object stuck inside her. Yea, the smell journeyed into the hall way out of the OR.) And if you go to a GoGo joint you can smell STD funk when a dirty girl is dancing. It is very undeniable!!!! But if she is stupid enough to have sex with any-type of business going on down stairs then she should be LOCKED UP! It is a Serious Crime to have an incurable STD and spread it to others, as well as being a sex worker working with it. These crimes are punishable by LAW! and is judicially written in such ways that is obvious to understand!!!Site with female HP photo's http://www.herpes-terminator.com/female-genital-herpes-pictures.htm

#4. Most people within the ages of 25 and under have the highest degree of STD's

#5. Always use this brand of condom http://www.trojancondoms.com/Product/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=36

I don't care what anyone says, This brand is the safest!!!

l

A.Warts on fingers and private area - won't even go there with my parakeet!!!
B.Skin lesions- Mersa and/or Scabies - Find the Door FAST!!!
C.Aids, HIV. usually contract, herpes, gonorrhea and all kinds of other STD's along with increased aging appearances.
D.Clamidia of the throat and private
E.But gonorrhea or candida are easier to catch doing anything without dental damn.

visual symptoms to look for besides scent
Dark patchy skin around the groin area
Females that smoke have a Citris Scent
Females that do not smoke have a Sweet Scent
Any scent that smells like DOUGH such as bread or strong and fishy like a salmon's ass. Or is all flowered up with those feminine Funky Rosy in-certs. Run

I didn't proof read, gotta get ready for a massage

WTF is wrong with people putting themselves  into harms way for a buck? NOPE Show em the door and have several times.... I won't let ANYONE on my massage table with any type of funk that isn't an obvious Pimple.

HSV-1 is cold sores/ fever blisters. 80-90% folks already have it.
HSV-2 is genital.
Once you get either there is NO cure. More often men give to women. In this hobby those infected women can pass it off to others. The person who has it can cut % of passing it by 70% if they take DAILY meds. If a condom is used % dropped by 30% only.  It is highly contagious via sex. The kicker :ost women or men who pass it during sex do NOT have ANY signs/ lesions/smell/ discharge.  It is not like other STDs.
When one actually had lesions - they're so  painful - no one wants any sex near it.

i guess that my main concern is that the virus can still spread with no symptoms showing. and the fact that we're basically the same pool of people having relations that if one person screws up, we're all in for it. as for the scents and what it looks like, thats definitely helpful. and ill check out the trojan unlubricated condom. and get tested once a month. anything else?

That's an important point.  Physical inspection will reveal nothing with regards to herpes in that when they are having a breakout most would not want physical contact since it is painful.  The time before and the time right after a breakout when there is viral shedding is the time where infection can and will happen with no physical symptoms.  Now the person infected with herpes will probably know from they physical symptoms they have (itching, tingling or some type of pain in the area), but they will not have the herpes blisters at that time.

you're not allergic to latex. For those of us who get blisters from the rubbers, we must use something else - and those work just as well, thank you very much.

Also what are the chances of catching something like herpes if you're careful? Anyone got a rough %?

Not a provider and no herpes.  Perhaps you should look around.  I think the paranoids are after you.

I read somewhere, either on AIM or Luke Ford, that the known number of porn stars with genital herpes was around 85% of the total population of porn stars.  Not good odds, virtually every porn star has it, with or without symptoms.

Providers redefine the term "multiple sex partners", so I imagine the odds there are just as crappy, no matter what they tell you about never seeing any symptoms.  For reasons not understood yet, herpes can be asymtomatic in some people, but present violent symptoms in others.

Learn to deal with the risk mentally first, then make an informed decision.

C'mon ladies!  This person says you almost all have genital herpes.  When I am in session, you all talk about how clean you are and what you do to stay that way.  Also, all the long-time hobbyists talk about decades in the saddle without getting a single sore.

So what is this near newbie to think?

That's what I read too that's why I hit these boards immediately. I'm not here to troll or to cause trouble. If we all have herpes and it's not a big deal, that's cool with me. I'm just looking for straight answers and no one seems to have them. I for one think that providers know more about STDs than the physicians who read it out of a book. I'm not afraid of STDs, I just want to learn the truth about them. I even asked my family doctor and he calls it committing suicide. Now that can't be right because I've been with my fair share of providers. But I'm sure providers have been with at least 100 times more men than I have providers, so given that number, shouldn't they all carry herpes or even HPV for that matter? I've read that clinics are only concerned with fatal diseases like the HIV. And that porn stars don't get tested for herpes or HPV because they all have it. They just don't work during outbreaks. With all that said what can you guys/girls tell me? Or should I stop asking? Don't matter to me... Was just a question.

Some percentage of herpes carriers never develop any symptoms, hence they don't even know they carry the virus unless they get tested for HSV-1 and HSV-2.  Even though HSV-1 is commonly thought of as cold sores, and HSV-2 is commonly thought of as genital herpes, the two viruses are labeled that way to just distinguish the type, that's all.  Someone with a cold sore can infect someone in the genital area through oral sex, that's an example of oral herpes becoming genital herpes.

The risk of transmission outside of an outbreak is very, very small, but not zero.  This is why the medical profession cautions people to be aware of this risk.  Condoms can further reduce the risk, but not reduce it to zero.  Someone with a herpes lesion on their buttocks or thigh area can brush against the uncovered testicle of a partner and you will have herpes transmission with or without that condom.

When you are with a partner who has hundreds of partners every year, you have to think your risk of coming in contact with herpes is larger than when you are with a partner who has only a few partners per year, its just the numbers and the odds of being with someone who has multiple partners.

Arm yourself with good information, then weigh the risk and make your own decisions.

If you want to cut down the odds a little more, I'd take high-dose lysine daily.  There are several medical papers describing decreased symptoms and other effects that suggest lysine interferes with the viral life cycle.  Just google it for more information.  Washing and urinating immediately afterwards is a no-brainer.
