The new issue of Playboy with Amanda Beard on the cover has a story about a Las Vegas provider in it. The article contains a lot of information about TER. In that article it states that there are 90,000 providers listed on TER and that TER has a million registered hobbyist's.

I find those stats to be greatly exagerated. Where did they get that info? But maybe I'm wrong. Any thoughts about this.

Well, now all we need is a few people to guess at what fraction of escorts are on TER and we can get a good number on just how many prostitutes there are in the country! I live in NYC and I'm going to guess about 10 percent.

How many provider profiles are still active where the girl may retired and never informed TER.  Then again, how many members are there that were created by providers or agencies in order to get the first 10/10 review posted that so many people have caught?

It's not TER's fault, but I would be willing to guesst that the neumebrs aren't quite accurate.

I have heard general estimates that TER comprises about 10% of the hobby numbers in the US.  I think that may be high.  However assuming it is true, then:

There are 12,500,000 hobbyists in the US (the vast majority being male).
There are 927,000 providers in the US (the significant majority being female).

I expect that both numbers are low (perhaps significantly so).  Assuming they are correct:

There are something on the order of 100 million + registered voters in the US.  If that figure were assumed to be correct along with the hobbyist figures, then we have about 15% of the electorate (assuming we are all registered voters).  That is not an insignificant percentage, however it isn't enough to win elections.  

Just my thoughts on the matter.
