Big Vern asked a few threads back how you would respond to a daughter who was considering providing.  Didn't read all the responses, but seemed most were saying they would attempt to dissuade her.

Well, what if your son said he felt the the need to hobby?  What would you say?  And don't just say ask him why, assume it is for the same reasons you do.  What would say?

You said "unanimous" no, yet you admit to not reading all the responses in that thread. If you had bothered to read all the responses, you would see that some folks were ok with it. So it was not "unanimous.

The son gets to CHOOSE the women he sees and is attracted to...not all providers have the option of only seeing guys who look like Brad Pitt, or they would go broke. If my son wanted to see providers, I would rather that vs. him going bareback with some bar slut he met one time, knocking her up, and possibly altering his future.

I would certainly encourage him to play smart by doing research before just taking the plunge, and to make sure the money he was spending was not money he needed for something more important. Many fathers actually hire a provider for their sons, because sex to men is usually not the same as it is with women. They don't have to have that first time with someone "special." It is more like some rite of passage.

Surprisingly they didn't seem to care. Even my mom!
They are just happy I'm not doing hard drugs.
For all I know my dad may be posting on this very board.
Dad? Are you out there?

What are the odds of two generations of guys finding that, lol. In that case I would be fine with it. I would be fine with it. If he was single and over 18 I would be fine with it. That is as long as he can afford it. Now if he was married or involved with someone and sneaking around on her, I would have a problem with that but would not out him. If my son wished to provide and was not hiding it from a SO, I would be fine with that as well, but I hope he avoids the hobby. By the way it was not unanimous on the daughters.

I don't judge my fellow mongers for their life choices, (well not too much. lol), but I could not advise any child of mine to live a life of lies, and that goes for a child of either sex.

FWIW I don't lie about my whore mongering activities to anyone in my life. Well, there is one exception to that, many of my married friends ask me, more like beg me, not to mention anything about whore mongering in this or any other country in front of their wives. I of course honor those requests, to do otherwise would be ME making decisions for THEM and would rightly terminate the friendship/s.

That said, I never lie for my own purposes about seeing prostitutes, I am much too lazy to do so, and other people's opinions of me just don't mean that much to me.

Your little sonny boy came to you with a dilemma like...

Ugh, Dad...I'm looking on TER and found this terrific hooker in Boston.  Her handle is deb4512.  She's a hottie according to the reviews.

What's the fucking line of you putting him in rehab after that?  LO

I am ok with it. Would prefer that my future son was either single or his wife was ok with it and that he spent what he can afford. I would not "out" him and would show him how to not get ripped off.

Yeah, most posted that they would try to dissuade their daughter, but they also said that if she insisted they would show her how to be safe etc.

London hit the nail on the head, there is a difference in being a hobbyist and being a provider.

Yes, it's me. Daddums!  I thought it was time I invited you to partake of a threesome with me and my ATF.  She's younger than you are and has seen your pictures.  She wants to suck your cock while I bone her from behind.  I'll set something up for Fathers Day.  It's on me.
Love,

This is straight from the "oracle of Omaha's" mouth too....

"I had to cut Warren Jr's allowance to only a million a month due to his excessive spending on BP hookers".

"I am considering reinstating his allowance if he is willing to use TER and find hookers that are at least 300 and up...and I don't mean in pounds!!!"

Or are we locked into some 1950s gender world where such things just could not happen? Yeah, I know most providers are female and most hobbyists male, but it not unanimous, um I mean there are exceptions.

Personally, I think that I have done my job with my kids regarding their sex lives - have fun be safe. So if one of them wanted to hobby, would consider it none of my business, just like it is none of their business who I fuck. If one of my kids wanted to provide, I would gladly engage in a discussion on the pros and cons of that career choice with him or her, sharing what I have learned, so he or she could make an informed decision. From there, I would be the same supportive dad I always try to be.

If he shared that he wanted to (or already was) hiring sex workers, my personal thoughts on that would depend on his age and overall experience with women (or men, as the case may be).

I certainly have no moral objection. My concern would be that he might be missing out on some of the most important experiences of his life. If he was avoiding going through the challenges, and the headaches, the complete exasperation, the sheer joy, the utter pain and desperation of being in love and experiencing a broken heart by only interacting with women he hired for sex, he would be missing out on  experiences that make all of us human.

So, what I might say to him would depend entirely on where he was in his life. On his 2nd divorce? Child support, alimony?...whatever....if he was not already hiring sex workers, I might suggest that as an option myself.

If he was a young man cashing in on a sure thing and not attempting to establish meaningful "relationships", I might give him a good gentle ass-kicking.

If the ONLY thing you ever learn is that for X amount of money you can get your rocks off, you lose.

Both of my parents exhibited a similar perspective when it came to trying to 'control' my sexuality.

Meaning, neither ever did. They provided competent information; just the facts m'am...and then, probably, crossed their fingers and hoped for the best, while standing by and watching with horrified fascination while I ran into life with reckless abandon....haha...

I learned more than a few hard lessons. And it all turned out quite well :

I think, in my own case, that contact with providers actually improved my social skills vis a vis civies.

I will grant that this is a very complicated issue, as psychological issues will always be, but it is not black and white.

I wish my Dad had gotten a hooker to pop my cherry.  I recall reading about that in Michener's "Hawaii."  I've always wanted to do it for a young lad, properly supervised, of course.  But the right lady would rock his world.  Of course, that's easy to say but the consequences might not all be good.  Still, it's nice to dream about.

There is no absolute here. But, going through all of the highs and lows of real relationships, with all of the 'real' emotional challenges and joy and pain is (IMO) one of the things that, not only allows us to grow but, forces us to.

Again, if the ONLY thing you learn is....

And, without love lost throughout history, we could erase a significant amount of classic art, poetry, music, literature.

If all any of us ever did was pay to get laid, the world as we know might come to an end. We could become a zombie army of emotionless creatures endlessly critiquing and evaluating the superficial qualities of the available 'love for sale'....

oh, wait...lol...
