The last couple weeks I decided to hit the bars and pick up civvie girls instead of getting my needs met by a professional. I know a couple decent spots where there are lots of tourists and/or fairly attractive young women (25-35) who have usually drunk too much to not need wiener. I always meet women, but it's a crapshoot whether we actually sleep together at the end of the night. About a third of the time I go home alone, about a third of the time I leave with a girl but no score, and about a third of the time I have had sex with someone I pick up.

The first step is just finding the right place at the right time of night -- maybe 3-4 hours before closing (which is 4AM here!) Then I sit and have a drink and scope the place out. The girls on the prowl are pretty easy to spot. They almost always are in pairs, but they look around too much. I pick one and make eye contact, maybe a slight smile, but never move in. If some asshole goes in to hit on them (and someone usually does, eventually) then all I have to do is shoot them some sympathetic looks now and then. Eventually they move, and start a conversation with me. When this happens, I know I'm 90% home.

Girls who ask for my number or to go out never go home with me at the end of the night. I never give up my number or take theirs. I don't even tell them my last name. Probably I could get laid more often if I ditched these women and moved on, but usually when this happens we are actually hitting it off and I am genuinely enjoying the conversation and time with her. I just cherish that time, with no expectations for the future. A lot of times a great conversation is better than getting laid anyway.

But here's the thing -- staying out until 4AM drinking is rough on me. I can't do this shit and recover fast anymore. And if I actually do hook up with someone, then there is basically no sleep at all. It takes me two days to recover. I need to get work done sometime too! Plus I just don't trust drunk civvies with their health as much as I do competent professionals. The pill or IUD does not protect against STDs! Some of these girls don't get it. Or don't get tested regularly.

Hiring a pro is way easier and faster and better for my health. I can get laid and then be in bed sleeping comfortably by myself within an hour. Sure, a pro costs a few hundred versus the 30-40 bucks that rolling the dice at a bar would be. But that's for convenience. On the other hand, picking up civvie chicks is a bigger boost for the ego. I like it when they seek me out and compliment me. Pros complement me too, but they are paid. So that doesn't count intellectually or emotionally. Sometimes I hit it off with a pro. But I don't want a girlfriend, remember? I gotta say this: I think civvie girls do better cowgirl. But pros are generally way better at BJs. I have never picked up a transexual in a bar. Not my scene. I never got over my eighth-grade aversion to dancing (at least when sober).

So... long story short: Keep on keepin on, boys. It's a healthy lifestyle! Meanwhile, I'm going to bed (before 10PM!)
