Pardon my big head, but...I doubt that anyone would disagree that I probably know more about the Phoenix situation and Phx escorts and Massage people than any other 5 people combined.  I host a private E-mail list with about 500 people exchanging info since vice cops monitor and go after providers on public boards, especially TBD.I have exposed ripoffs and talked about Phoenix for almost 10 years even long before all the Phoenix info on sexwork.com. But I have never exposed on the web site any honest provider that does not want public exposure.  Many of them don't need more clients anyway since they often are the most affordable and popular.  They don't want the legal risk of being reviewed no matter how favoraby on any public board.  In the review section here I submitted a few reviews but only in the depth I thought were safe giving enough info but not into sexual details.  They were all rejected as not detailed enough.  Since that isn't my style and with the legal issues in Phoenix I will not do them in any more depth.  If others want to put the provider at risk...that is their business. Most of the reviews in the escort section here are well known very public highest priced gals in Phoenix (and seems similar in other cities).  They know how to screen and the legal risk premium is reflected in their fees. My reviews were also of those public but they certainly do not want any sexual details given.Maybe it is only Phoenix where vice cops have a field day searching the Interent board for leads of honest legitimate providers to set up stings against, while they avoid going after huge numbers the cash and dash and bait and switch scams in PhoenixBut I think this is a serious issue for those in many other cities across the U.S.

So do I.  And what of the issue of privacey?  At least ask the providers how they feel about being public before exposing them. Int

Isn't that common courtesy, may I refer someone to you? Basically you are referring the whole US to this person, through the search feature. This is not the same as saying "never refer me because my service is poor", "I'm a rip off and please don't tell anyone ELSE!!!"                 CD

IMO, writing a review is completely at the discretion of the client.  If you want to ask beforehand that's up to you but I never have and doubt that I will.  Are some of the reviews overboard?  Without a doubt.  Some guys act like they're auditioning for scriptwriter job at Vivid Video. I think we're all still trying to get a firm grasp on how radically the Net has altered this pursuit.  I do believe that too many providers want to have their cake and eat it too:  they enjoy the price hikes that can be directly attributed to the Net's popularity but seem to have a disdain for sites like TER that have been invaluable to many clients, myself included.  As I see it, those who find the 'juicy details' section have three choices:-- ignore them-- complain to the management-- fire up your own site and set the rules yourselfIf you're really ambitious, do all three.

reviews would be as worthless as ads. They are more like consumer reports reviews not referrals.BUT. We reviewers need to take into account local LE concerns.  I write reviews only on public providers and not in explicit sexual details that treats women as sex machines.  I am more interested in the personality side.  I would never ask permission, that defeats the purpose of indepenent honest reviews to help others. In my case I write reviews without the sexual details but they aren't acceptable since not detailed enough by TER gods to give me detailed access in the review section. So I won't write reviews nor recommed this source for others since the only reviews allowed are those that are too explicit in my opinion.

I agree with Dave that LE has picked up its level of activity, nationwide it seems, but the issue to me is one that needs to be looked at individually and is not clear cut as an all or nothing decision. Why are you posting a review? Is it because you are warning your fellow hobbyist of a bad situation? Are you reviewing someone new or has there been a significant change in what happened as opposed to expectations? Are you helping a young lady that has just started and needs the review and has asked for your help? If any of these are true then write the review. However, if your review is going to cause more problems than good then think twice.I have had ER turn down reviews, and generally I do not write them as often as I once did- I still share information but also mostly in a private setting. But what I see is that the ladies who gripe the most are the ones who get less then favorable reviews. When that doesn't work then they go gripe on another board about the initial board that allows the review to stand. Personally, and I expect to get flamed for this, but the review section is for hobbyist- end of story. If you are a provider and you are in that section of ER you have no more business there then a hobbyist does being on a Provider Only Discussion Board snooping around. I have stated this before but in most instances bad experiences happen because hobbyist do not do their homework. A rip-off artist or a bad provider survives on the guy who does not take the time and do a little research. Without reviews, the new guy has no more chance then the mouse in the nature films being stalked by the rattlesnake. (Sooner or later he's dead meat) Reviews are necessary. They help the good hobbyist and the great ladies get in touch with each other. They contibute to making this enjoyable. Like anything else if done without conscience they become a negative. Like anything else ultimately the human factor to decide is the most critical.--modified by Lancaster at Sat, May 05, 2001, 15:13:03

This is a topic that comes up quite a bit on the boards. My question is, what in the world did you guys do before this service became so prevelant? Was it word of mouth? Hit or Miss? I guess I just wonder if the whole Review Trend has lived up to what it's suppose to be. It's a bit confusing. Also, if you can read every detail about what the lady has done with another guy, what is left for you? I don't think there could be much mystery or intrigue if you rely heavily on reviews. Yes, you should know about rip offs and potentially dangerous situtaions. But if 9 out of 10 reviews of a girl says the same thing, what do you think you can expect?

There was a lot of hit and miss; also, TER and similar sites made entrepenuers out of thousands of providers that otherwise would have gone through agencies.  And "madams" are a dying (dead?) breed as they existed as recently as 5 years ago. Some of us were fortunate in that we hooked up with providers that ended up a referring us to others (with the caveat that the "others" were of the same quality). And almost all (all?) of us had bad experiences and rip-offs and with far greater frequency than we do now thanks to TER.

I could not agree anymore. I personally have met with over 20 Porn Stars and the majority have asked me not to review them because they are in serious relations, under contract, being followed and/or investigated or simply they do not want anyone to know that they do escort. Cities like Tampa, Chicago and Philly as well as Orange County are being watch very closelly by the LE and we must protect the providers and Agencies that provide those services since in the short term us customers will be affected. There has been many pornstars that have called it quits for the heat that they are getting and I would not blame them. One of them is in her final Tour for the same reason and others will follow.I guess Bush Administration has really hurt this industry and they have not even been in power one year yet and we still have to survive 3+ years more and it will not get any better.SethW a/k/a The Doctor

Reviews ARE worthless as ads . If we want to look at us as comodity... do outside people post "ads" on any product without risking backlash? A review is  an opinion. An endorsement or a warning perhaps. Many of us do not wish to be public and do not advertise. .. but would welcome a discrete referral.  What I think is overlooked here is the fact that this is an underground business that is risking being publically overexposed. Would we post the name ,address and performance review of our bookie, our drug dealer, our Cpa who operates in the gray zone? I have no problem that sights like this exist for those who want to use them. I can see many benifits from the aspect of ripoffs and from the point of view of women who choose to be high profile and use these sites as advertisement.I also find the boards to be entertaining and a means of sharing ideas. For a provider who wishes to practice discretion,( and operate honestly) the reviews could be an endangerment to her lifestyle. I see so many clients who want a balanced, gfe, professionalism ,drug free, dependable provider. In my case it has required  finding a balance between providerhood and living 'in the real straight world'.. unfortunately the stigmatism that still exists around this business makes  'coming out' pretty incompatible with a traditional lifestyle. So the need  for privacey is REAL.Yes, I agree that  the net has opened up a whole world of info and presented questions about how far it can and should be taken.  It can be a valuable resource. Many of us have operated in this biz for years successfully using referrals and regular business to maintain a comfortable practice. Client and provider ( and indeed, web sights) have a symbiotic relationship. One cannot exist without the other. We deal with each other on an extememly intimate basis and this requires that we look at the individual and  treat each other with respect. It is not about power  of one entity over another, but about finding a balance that would best serve all of us safely.

Wake up to reality. Ask Productions Companies such as Vivid and Metro and in addition, ask The Major XXX Websites why they are moving their boxes out of the USA? then you will have your question answered very clearly and in detail. For that reason many people such as myself have refrain on going into detail on our reviews to avoid the providers and Agencies on getting into situations that none of us want them to go thru.I am not making this up and if you are Republican I can understand and will respect you position.Later.....SethW A/K/A The Doctor

I respect your desire to be private.  But most providers don't use their real names, would not disclose their address untl accepted as a client and reviews are not usable of evidence of any crime.  We still have a free speech right in the U.S.I personally would rarely consider a provider that hadn't been reviewed.  Of course I highly favor Canada over the U.S. where they don't have the legal issues. As my original post indicated I am upset that descrete reviews are not allowed in the review section of TER, since two of mine were rejected for not being detailed enough.  Yet will all the ripoffs and different types of providers some info is needed for informed choice.  Not every client knows others from who can share referrals etc.. the Internet is perfect for that.On the other hand I do realize the LE concern which is why I host a private E-mail list with tons of reviews with over 500 participants without the public exposure.  Any many of the great providers in Phoenix like you would not want any exposure publically. If you do not want any reviews I beleive it is your responsibilty to tell your clients that.  Not expect clients to ask for permission - that defeats the whole purpose of honest reviews of good and bad providers.Of courese YMMV and personalities might differ who you will click with etc, but in my view reviews are very valuable and how I make my decisions, especially in Canada without the legal issues and so many more choices of great providers at a fraction of the cost as in the U.S. due to limited supply with our legal situation.  There are very few places in the world with no adult sexual freedoms like in the U.S.

Changes have to do with local and county municipalities governed by elected officials supported by the moral majority. Tampa has been feeling increased LE activity over a YEAR before Bush ever took office.  It started under the CLINTON Administration, not Bush.

I, too had a review rejected.  I find some of the qiesitons tastless.  If the owners of this site wish to reject my valuable information simply because I won't say whether or not the girl "cums in mouth,"  I feel vindicated by their rejection!

Monet- I think you explained my thoughts without trying. We should know about ripoffs and dangerous situations. We should also know that the girl in the picture is the girl that is behind the door when it swings open. And we should know what the financial terms are before we call. Details down to the line item level at least to me are not necessary and once I have a link to the web page if there is a picture then I can judge if I find her to be attractive or not.Level of service however is another matter. I look for someone who I can trust as a reviewer first- a recognizable name. The next thing I look at is the time stamp. The last six months mean a great deal more to me then something that took place in 1999. Then I look for the most common number, 7 or higher my cut off point- then I scan the details with the most weight on two terms: GFE and clockwatcher. Mystery to me is nice but since I hit my forties I would rather know more and chance less on what to expect. As for what did we do before site like this, we gambled. Some of us more sucessfully then others but it was a gamble. When 9 out of 10 reviews say the same thing then what can I expect? The same thing is a good answer.

Seth W The Doctor:The Bush Administration's Justice Dept only got its act together about a month ago; they've held office for less than 3 months and got a late start because of the Ashcroft fiasco. If the video/film industry and agencies want to blame the Bush Ad its paranoia about what "might" happen.  Frankly, at the federal level very little is likely to happen.  In fact, more is likely to result from fallout from the preachy silliness of Hillary and Joe Lieberman than any concerted effort by the Republicans.  Much of this stuff is purely local and driven by a variety of interests (some puritanical and some economic as in "property values").  You just can't heap the blame on the Republicans and, in fact, if there's any problem at the federal level it fits in with the little initiatives of the Clinton Admin.Re: earlier comment - yes, I am identified with the Republican Party (in a significant way in fact); alas, I come from the libertarian fringe of the party.

Just perfect. Well democrat party leaders (at least) couldn't tell the truth to save their own lives.... But they know what's best for you and your kids.... California State legislature is banning candy and soda pop from all public schools becasue kids are too fat.Republicans will tell you they don't like porno and prostitution (although most of em partake) bit won't waste a session trying to create more laws. The adult industry should be a lot more concerned about Jimmie Hahn branding Antonio Villaregosa as "soft on crime." Compadre Antoniovich will ty to show himself in the media as a real crime fighter... I bet he goes after the easy stuff that the media will love versus the hard f**kers who will fight back.... IMHOAnybody remember satellite TV "American Triple XXXtacy?" born under the Reagan umbrella and killed under Clinton.... But the Republicans are bad.... My ass...

Dude-   Take it from an ex-repub-This years model of the GOP is thin veneer of clue over pretty fascist gang.   All of us "real GOPers" got turned off by the wacky Christo-falangists who took over the party while that total turncoat Reagan was reigning (sorry-  his wife and her business associates ruled (and profited mightily) for the drooling idiot-boy)The real action where good ideas live is now the right wing of the dems-sad to say.   I bemoan the days when "Bush Republican" meant you were for fiscal sense and strong defense- now it means you are a moron!  So sad to see it happen from the inside. Is it too late to for a real conservative party?  One that is culturally libertarian, otherwise progressive, and strong overseas?  How off topic can I go?   Just missing the good old days...
