You know, it's been a long time since I have hated someone as much as I do Vick. I am NOT a PETA crazy, but have had pets and have adored them. The thought of them being abused by this son of a bitch just infuriates me.
Yeah, I know, he has not been proven guilty, but there is a hell of a lot of smoke that seems to point to a fire. Now, a guy has agreed to testify against Vick. Apparently, Vick bankrolled the whole dogfighting operation at his property.
I really, really hope he goes down for this; but I have a feeling that he'll skate with a suspension or some such slap on the wrist for this abhorrent behavior.

He's innocent until proven guilty so I'll reserve my judgement till after the jury who hear all the fact have made theirs.

But if he's guilty then I really hope he's given a very tough sentence.

I'm betting that some sort of deal get's worked out that allows him to mostly walk.  He'll have to pay a hefty settlement, apologize profusely, etc., but he'll play again in the NFL.  His lawyers are too smart to not cut a deal, if that's what it takes...

Any abuse -- and to cause suffering and death -- of animals is bad.

I'm not a member of PETA, just your everyday pet lover; and I love the Pat's and would usually give a tooth to get a seat at a game.

But if they were playing Atlanta or any team with Vick on it, I would not go to that game; in fact, I might even join the thousands who will probably protest outside.

Can you just imagine the pressure on the sponsors?

I think his career has gone to the dogs.

I do not care for pitbulls but when I watched the news, I become very emotional.

How can anyone want to commit such a horrible act and profit from it as well?  I will never understand that.

Very upsetting.

As the owner of two sweet, friendly and very socialized pit bulls, I hope he burns in hell.

My guess is, his NFL career is over. I'm pretty sure, no team would want the protests and potential boycott, that would occur if Vic were playing. Americans love their pets.

But I do have to agree.  This boils down to economics, and the number of people in favor of torturing animals is miniscule compared to the buying public.

He'll probably be able to buy his way out of serious trouble, but I can't imagine the team willing to put up with the financial peril of having him around.

I am not defending what Vick did at all (i don't even watch football, i am a baseball fanatic),but we need to remember a very crucial principle upon which our entire judicial system is based; that is, in our judicial system not only you are innocent until proven guilty, but also the burden of proof lays down on the prosecution. They have to prove beyond the shadow of the doubt (that is the standard ladies and gentlemen) that Vick or any other indicted person has committed the acts listed in the indictment brief. Basically, in our case, Vick's lawyers do not have to prove that he is innocent, but they have to prove that he is not guilty, which is feasible with a brilliant lawyering.

So, let us relax, take a breather, and let the course of the judicial system unfolds. What is happening in the media now is, in my opinion, despicable. They are poisoning the minds of the potential juries. I say this because sometimes you have innocent people accused of horrendous crimes they didn't commit and they are condemned in the public arena before they are condemned in a court of law. Does anyone remember the 4 kids from Duke? Do we want to do that again? Who wants to live that again? It was one of the most shameful episodes in the recent history of our judicial system. So, let us put things in perspective here. What we all have been doing is harming and weakening our judicial system, whose sanctity should be preserved above and beyond any case, Vick's or otherwise.  A very wise philosopher once said that he would rather have a judicial system that sets free 100 guilty men than one that condemns to jail and deprives one innocent man of his freedom.

I know what i am saying is not popular, but there are things that are greater than Vick's case: the sanctity of our judicial system, which serves ALL of us.

Perhaps we should confine our discussions to any public figure that is found to be guilty of these horrific deeds.

I agree with you 100%.  Inhumane abuse go on daily at cattle ranches and chicken and pig farms. I'm not a PETA member either but check out this video; if you have a conscience you man never want to eat meat again:

http://www.meat.org/

For those who still eat meat you are condoning the abuse which occur in these industries and that's really bad karma. There is enough food to go around without having to kill innocent animals. Why make such a fuss about Vick when even worse acts are committed legally in the meat industries all over the US?  We are a nation of hypocrites.

I completely agree with your post, but I want to correct one discrepancy.  The Standard is "Beyond reasonable doubt".  Everyone that could be on his jury might have some doubts as to his guilt, and that has to be weighed against the evidence.  If the individual still considers his/her doubt "reasonable", they must find not guilty.  I might be picking nits, but that language is one of the few things nobody has ever messed with in 230+ years.
