Maybe taboo to ask but any providers or hobbyists on PreP for safety? I do not promote uncovered but just curious

What people should be more concerned about at this time is the huge increase of antibiotic resistant chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. HIV is no longer the death sentence it once was (I am by NO means advocating for anyone to contract HIV!!!). PreP has caused a lull with sexual health and safety for clients and providers alike into thinking they can pop a pill to prevent contracting HIV but nothing else seems to be a big concern to them. There are strains of gonorrhea that there are currently NO antibiotics to treat them. And the more often you contract an STI the more difficult it is to treat with the same antibiotics. The WI Dept. of Health just put out a study this last summer that antibiotic resist gonorrhea cases are on the rise in this area and to take extra precautions. Condoms. Condoms. Condoms. I promote health and safety, which is to always use condoms.

Whether you prefer to go bare or not, taking Prep is a good idea.  Minimal side effects, low or zero cost (depending on your health care provider) and easy to take one pill daily.   My doctor asks me to get tested every 90 days including blood, urine, and oral & anal swabs. It takes 10 minutes to obtain the samples, and I get next day results.

In exchange, I am confident that even if a condom breaks or I or my partner might get exposed through other means like oral, I have a near-zero chance of contracting or passing HIV. Whenever possible, I also ask my partners to share recent test results and get a prescription for Prep before we engage in any activity.

Of course, it's not always possible, or even likely in some cases. But the more this medication and sharing test results gets normalized between consenting adults, the safer we all will be.

Note to the trolls: Please don't bother to flame me with any bullshit about how offended you are with the idea of swapping test results, how impractical it is, or how it's an invasion of privacy.  I don't care and I won't reply. If it really pisses you off - no worries: I don't want to fuck you anyway.

You be you, and I'll be safe being me.

Life is good

i’ve been on prep for a few years despite not offering bbfs and i think anyone sexually active should also take it as long as their health allows it. i’ve only had minor side effects that eventually go away.

it can be rough on your liver and kidneys but you get quarterly blood work done to check those levels.

if you’re looking for low/no cost then your local health dept may offer it. if they don’t then mistr could also be an option (not sure if they service all states).

i find being open to swapping establishes a level of trust ... of course you have to also trust the tests are real!

i wouldn't do it with a one time or first time ... but with someone i begin to repeat with .    just my take

Prep ONLY covers HIV, it does NOT protect you from any other STIs. I think that unfortunately is where providers as well as clients may be confused. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out!!

You asked a question and people are giving you their personal opinions. Everyone should make their decision based on what is best for them. I donated a kidney and also have a weakened liver because of previously being an alcoholic. PreP can be difficult for some people to use because it can be hard on the liver and kidneys to process the drug. Some people do also have other side effects as well. I am also not on any other birth control and I live in an area with an increase of antibiotic resistant gonorrhea, so I always use condoms as that is more of a concern of mine in this area, not HIV. I am not sure why you are saying anyone on this thread is being "illiterate", everyone has read your OP and gave their personal opinions, no one is telling you what to do with your body. If you always use condoms but also want to go on this drug that is your personal choice, just like everyone who decides not to take the drug is their personal choice as well.

I have always respected your candor. You’re smart & witty. Liver damage was mine main concern as well. My Daddy died of liver cancer. He was an alcoholic.

How can we be illiterate if we read & do our research? 🧐

Pretty self-evident with the mid-thread meltdown then follows it up to let us know she's an "alpha domme" like that's some sort of justification to act like a bitch to folks who haven't signed up or and laid down cash to be voluntarily treated as subs.   Kinda like a boss in real life, if you have to tell your people what you are, are you really that person?

On some real shit. 💩

If you don’t have kids & you’re not a boss in real life, meaning a Matriarch who deserves respect 🫡 you need to sit your young, disrespectful azz down. Get a new reviews here before you go high.

No one knows you. You’re a non factor. 2017 was so long ago & you bragging on your accomplishments no one can validate lame AF.

Update your profile. Do something. Who are you?

Did you graduate? lol 😆 I felt superior when I graduated from college on the dean’s list.  Enjoy the high horse I’m not impressed with your disrespect. I could bend you over my knee, but not for free.

Word to the wise.

A provider I know does not tell clients she's on PrEP, because they then request BBFS.

I believe having prep & doxy is smart if your lifestyle supports the need to be safer.

Even if you’re in a relationship if your health isn’t an issue and you’re able these are added safety measures.

I think babygirl started a good thread.

Why would you ask this on a message board? The best you will get is anecdotal responses that you have no way to verify as accurate.

Presumably you are getting checked out regularly by a professional that knows what you do for a living?

Feel free to ask. it's not taboo.

Definitely get on it. Having good insurance helps.

People keep telling me that under the ACA, aka Obamacare, it has to be provided for free. Otherwise, it can be a few hundred $ per month. Of course, YMMV.

Good Luck and stay safe out there!
