That seems more personal to me. I get called hun and babe and baby a lot by providers, and even "love" by one, but it always seems insincere. You know they probably call everyone that. Maybe they can't remember my name, or are worried they are going to call me the wrong name, so they use the catchall nickname. I did have one favorite call me studmuffin. That was different at least. But she only used it in text and email correspondence. To my face she called me by name. I never complain, at whatever they call me but it does actually feel better to hear them use my name. She even uses it as her instagram handle. While I did put some thought into the name before calling her that for the first time, I never expected it to stick like that.
