I like music and I love the hobby and I sometimes find myself spinning music during a date. Sometimes I'm hosting. Sometimes a provider's hotel room has a dock for my IPod. Music is definitely a far sight better than some t.v. noise in the background.
But being a hobbiest on the senior end of the spectrum, I sometimes think my musical taste is pretty laughable to the younger providers I sometimes meet. So I'd love to hear from other hobbiests and providers if they have musical preferences and recommendations. I could definitely use some help adding to my playlist.
Here's the music I usually find myself spinning during a date:
Marvin Gaye: What's Going On, Here My Dear, I Want You Prince: Dirty Mind, Sign of the Times And I once had a great time with an obscure Chicago blues album in the background, Magic Sam's South Side Blues.
So you can see I could use some help in breaking out of my rut. Anybody have their own playlists they'd like to contribute to this thread? I'd love to hear other's musical tastes.
I find ethereal, almost otherworldly-sounding music to be a perfect companion to great, unrushed, sensual lovemaking. Portishead (particularly Dummy, but their new album, Third, is pretty good too), just about anything by Iron & Wine, Sigur Ros, and the Magnetic Fields -- one of my favorite bands, who I just saw in concert last night! (especially almost anything from 69 Love Songs) all fit the bill. Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook Collection is also really good, and I say that as someone who normally cannot stand his music.
I like slow trance, New Age, or something similar to Enigma. Basically, pretty much anything sensual with more melody than words. Songs that have a lot of lyrics tend to be distracting.
Sounds sort of like some of the trance music that's popular at some of the clubs in Germany right now. Thankfully they're starting to get away from euro and techno "rock". I will admit that it would be a good background track to some love noises.

A Case of You by Joni Mitchell on the list. For me, the song is just too melancholy and thoughtful to animate an erotic encounter. Indeed, the song is about the incredible depths that a relationship can reach as opposed to the typically brief TER encounters.
Plus the dulcimer accompaniment which works so well with the song means that the song lacks the throbbing bass line of your other choices ( I'd throw out your Ave Maria as well but that's me).
it is a beautiful song. Also, remember, this is not a list I've accumulated for sex. I said this is a list I've accumulated over the years that I like.
Now, to pinpoint the best songs for making love to: definitely, "Sexual Healing", almost anything by Sade and Diana Krall, and music without lyrics that is poetic and entrancing.
And if the setting is such that you're a rather "petite" man, and your date is a tall statuesque blonde with an enhanced rack... in that case Ravel's "Bolero" would suit the mood... and I hope the review would be a................................
i think it really depend on the type of music u are into some people will tell u they love to fuck while they lisen to metallica, but if u are into the slow stuff i would recomend momments in love by the art of noice, also enya, enigma and sade happy humping
Ciara- That's quite a list, and very helpful! Though every provider is different in taste, musically speaking, I can appreciate the songs you like. I myself am going to meet a lovely lady here in a few weeks in Vegas. She is quite a bit younger than I. We are going to have dinner first, then go up to the room and have drinks and 'dessert'. Both of her choosing, but not of her demands. I asked her of her preferences, and will have them made possible. I want to treat her with respect, and make her time with me as enjoyable as it will be for me to be with her! But as far as music, like I said, she is quite a bit younger than I. So I have the feeling she would be more into Hip-Hop than the Rat Pack! Actually, the Rat Pack is before my time also, but not by far...! Anyway, thanks for the insight, lady!
When I'm with a lover, I want to be in a bubble, just the 2 of us. I want to totally focus without distracting. I don't want the lyrics to be popping into my head...
My favorite artist is Fredrik Karlsson what I'll term "Massage Music". If you recieved a couple of discs recently, you'll know you're my ATF. skb
These are some of my favorites. Asian is wonderful to accompany a nice sensual massage, while Indian and Middle Eastern are better for the more sporting activities. Even some drums on their own can be very sensual, and when you add some soft flute to them, you can get lost in it.
But I still think it's good. You'd be surprised at what young women want to listen to while having sex. Some might say hip hop and a lot would still say something mellow. I would ask her right upfront regarding what she likes. Save yourself the uncertainties.
Prince is always good. I personally enjoy ambient electronic music like Vangelis' blade runner soundtrack, as it's without lyrics, and rather timeless. but that's just me. You could always go down the violin concerto route, too.
