When TER made some big changes here in April, American members were told that we wouldn't be charged membership fees for now, and that we were all getting three months of free membership. Does that mean that our accounts will be expiring here soon? Or is everything up in the air for now, and the three months will be applied if and when this site returns to normal operations in the U.S.?

Did you really believe them? I sure didn't and don't expect them to do anything. My days are still counting down.

No News is Good News in a situation like this.  Until they actually ask you to start paying again, why worry about it?  If they do ask, that is the time to ask for THEIR timeline on getting full access to the site back so that you can make an informed decision about remaining a member.   In the meantime, participate in the conversations on the discussion boards, fuck a few hookers each week, and enjoy still being a participant in what's left of the U.S. sex industry.

Did I have to like and share on FB?

I vaguely remember a post about being credited for VIP time while US reviews are not available, but not an offer of free.

In any case, as CDL said (in a way) , although the shelves are nearly empty, the doors are still open, so enjoy what's left. Worry about tomorrow tomorrow, because at this stage, if you haven't prepared, it's too late.

I would guess all that had remaining VIP still have the same, I could be wrong.

make changes, remove reviews, clear up ads, and slowing adding other cities... who knows if TER would do the same.. but it would be smart thing to do. Oh well !

But, I really don't see a way that TER can return... short of a complete repeal of the laws.
I'm hoping it can be defeated under infringement of constitutional rights, but if the law remains in tact and as written now, there's just no possible way they could bring the site back to full operating speed with zero possibility of attempted prosecution.
So, I'm not really being a pessimist...
Cautiously optimistic?

the restrictions of FOSTA/SESTA using anonymous ownership of corporate entities available in other countries.  However, it appears that TER has chosen to ignore or disregard these options while other platforms have taken advantage of the opportunity for relocation/restructure and are not only thriving, they are taking TER's market share.

Going offshore creates a jurisdictional issue for TER, since the web is worldwide.  Even though the new laws seek to throw a net over US ownership of overseas sites, one consultation with a local attorney in a country that allows anonymous ownership of corporate entities would confirm that, beyond the jurisdictional challenges, trying to find out who the principals are is next to impossible in some of these locales.  There would be a very public sale, through an escrow holder, of the entire TER empire to an offshore corporate entity, which would stand up in any US court as proof that the current TER principals have completely divested themselves of their personal stake in TER.  Unless TER ultimately became a clearing house for human trafficking, which it has never done in the past, it is foreseeable that the US would not waste their resources trying to crack another country's privacy-protection laws to find out who owns such  an anonymous corporate entity, when its likely it would just lead to other layers of anonymous corporate entities that are holding companies.

Obviously, what I'm suggesting does not come cheap, and I have no idea what TER's former revenues were like, but if lesser companies have already taken the plunge and are thriving, there is no reason to think this approach would not bring TER back to its former glory.  I can only attribute the failure of TER to do this as the fault of inept U.S. legal counsel who have no clue how to set this up using co-counsel licensed in another country.  Its sad to watch the market being taken over by some of these other outfits that can't hold a candle to TER.

Yes, they have listings and modified reviews. With my travel life, I've always had a bigger view than just TER.
I'm so happy that my play life has never been based on 1 and done.  I feel for you guys that play that way, it must be a challenge.
Just look at these other sites, it's only change.

remaining, but they are counting down.

So, will I lose my PM privileges once VIP days are zeroed out?

My VIP ran out.  I usually write a review to get VIP for 2 weeks when I have messages.  But now I cannot write reviews because the girls I meet are USA and profiles are blocked.  I have three reviews to write if/when TER comes back from the dead.

mrfisher suggested and I and others reiterated the idea that TER grant people free limited VIP = PM privs on a Basic Membership until things improve. That will keep people engaged on TER and give them one less reason to search out other ways to carry on private messaging.
.
How about this modification: TER should grant free limited VIP to those who Post and ASK for an extension of VIP privs? Like a locked thread, on Newbie or General, started by TER Admin: "Reply to this thread to request free limited VIP = PM privs."
.

They won't allow reviews to be made on sessions that occurred outside of 3 months, so your reviews will probably be null and void. Hell, by the time they may be able to be written, you will probably forgotten the encounters.

I would love to hear about all these "lesser companies" that have "taken the plunge and are thriving". I don't need an entire list of them, but if you can point out even one company that is doing even 10% of what TER used to do from a revenue standpoint, consider me impressed. I seriously doubt you could put together five of these lesser companies that  even combined are  generating a tenth of the revenue that TER used to do.

First of all, you above all should know it's against TER rules to name competitive sites.
Second, NONE of these sites are public companies that publish their revenues.  So you have asked a question that is, by definition, impossible to answer.
Third, even before SESTA/FOSTA there was probably NO site that did even ten percent of TER's revenues.
So, once again, you have combined a grotesque level of tendentiousness with a HUGE level of disingenuousness.
Well done!
What you SHOULD have said is it's simply impossible to know if ANY site is thriving or not.  Also, it's WAY too soon to know if any of these other sites that stayed in operation will avoid government prosecution because it's only been a few months since the law took effect.  As you should well know, the BP example doesn't fit here because that bust happened before the new law.

One of the savviest guys here.  I prepared a response that addressed points TWO and THREE of your post almost verbatim to what you said, but it was disallowed by TER due to your point number ONE.  I named not only the ONE that he challenged me to name, but four total that seem to have grown at least four-fold since TER closed US operations.  I was not measuring by revenues, but by increase in users.  As you say, no way to know revenues on private companies.
