A post on the Chicago board reminded me of The Chicken Ranch from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Did providers resort to barter for service during the Great Depression?  Could it happen again if we have another one? (It is not technically a depression yet.)

...girls barter for computer and website help, photos and all sorts of things. It's not so transparent, but it happens. If you've got a service or something they need...

We do see men from all walks of life with so many skills available it would be easy to do.

What's wrong with trading off talents and services

There is nothing wrong with it if it is something a provider can use.

If I need his services long term...as in he is a CPA, lawyer, financial advisor, doctor.....he can't remain my client. Those are services I am going to need for the long haul and I prefer our relationship not be clouded with anything physical.

Allure`

from ladies needing some work done, or a particular service, like carpentry, or roofing, or plumbing...Pretty simple, you clean her pipes, and she'll clean yours.

If you have something the lady needs, why not?

Did this once - worked well for both parties.  Wished it would happen more often.

for bartering are not allowed on TER.  I've pulled or disapproved a number of them already for this thread.

If you want to talk about it, fine.  Stop making offers in your posts.

Red face used to get attention, not for anger.

I DO offer a lot of different services. I do chemistry research, organic garden consulting, music production, custom electrical engineering (mostly AVR), math tutoring, web page stuff, and more. I even ghost-write political philosophy books for people.

But I would never barter that stuff. I charge what I consider reasonable fees for those services; and on occasion, for the needy, give a small amount of expertise away. Some of what I do has ongoing license fees attached.

But I wouldn't barter it for a provider's services. I want relationships with providers to be clean and unambiguous; and I want relationships with ME to be clean and unambiguous.

Alright...enough of this nonsense. You appear to be too decent and reasonable for this board. Go now before you morph.....OK my lame attempt at a "funny". Seriously, I am starting to look for your posts on here and I've never done that with anyone.

Not sure if that would be considered barter or not.  Given the dollar and perhaps the entire American federal government will begin to collapse, would TER allow providers to have rates in oz of gold or silver in addition to or in lieu of dollars?
