You know you can just google and find answers to different questions regarding biology and evolution.
It's because biological evolution hasn't caught up with societal factors. Sociology changes fairly quickly, evolution does not. Until the last 100-150 years, you died by age 25-30. Disease, starvation, wars, a sabre-toothed cat, something was going to eventually kill you before your 25th or 30th bday. So it was important for sexual maturity to occur years before that average life span.
But now there's 7 billion people on Earth and we live to be 75+ years old, however drastic evolution doesn't adjust in 150 years (maybe 150,000 years).
