Whenever I've toured San Francisco, I'd receive inquiries from potential San Jose based suitors who had no interest in making the hour commute. In my mind as a visitor who flew all the way across the country, it seemed like it shouldn't be that big of a deal for someone to get in their car and drive 50 miles each way. Then again, it is a distinct city with a million plus people and I could understand why those who reside there would want to be more than an afterthought to San Francisco.
In both area and population. I would definitely vote FOR creating a SJ board. San Jose might only be 50 miles from "The City" but just like there is both an OC board and an LA board, I think San Jose and the South Bay Area most definitely deserve a board of their own. Keep in mind that a San Jose Board would cover all of Silicon Valley, and if any area of the country deserves it's own board, it's Silicon Valley.
I was just visiting San Jose and SF last week and plan to go back to my original hometown to visit in Feb. I find that if you are advertising only in SF but will be in San Jose as well. San Jose guys are not going to look in the SF section. They are not going to make that drive from San Jose to SF not with that traffic. I experienced this myself...whoa on the distance and traffic. So yes San Jose board would be great it covers Santa Clara/San Jose/Palo Alto and surrounding areas. Thank you
and once upon a time it was. about THIRTY years ago. lol
I would no more drive up to the City for a session from Santa Clara County than I would drive from LA to San Diego. Ironically I too was born in SF and grew up in SJ. I remember as a kid driving up to the Cow Palace or Winterland (yes I am THAT old) for a concert and then ending up down on the beach in Santa Cruz sometime before the sun would come up in the morning. Try doing that today. lol Anyone else remember the Hole in the wall beach at Bonny Doon?
Oh the memories on a santa cruz beach I have as a teenager lol The traffic is a beast out there I did not recall it being like that but then again it had many years since I have visited. I drove from Santa Clara to the East Bay area during 4-5pm. The garlic noodles at crustacean's restaurant made it almost worth the drive into SF It took 1hr and a half to get there and that was driving in the express lane the traffic was terrible . Driving a hot and fast car helped with the drive but still.... The cow palace...whoa that was a blast from the past. lmao
I know I am going to date myself, but I am old enough to remember not only Winterland which closed at the end of 1978, but I "kind of" remember the Filmore which was even older. lol
I remember when I was a kid you could easily get all the way up to Oakland on the Nimitz Freeway in barely an hour from most places in Santa Clara county, this was before I 680 was even built. Damn, now I feel old. Thanks Jaydalee. lol
CA is so big and so heavily populated that each major city will be busier than some entire states in the Union. In So Cal alone, you can subdivide into multiple different boards as well.
