A question for the men and the ladies. How did you select your hobby name?

Van the Man was a nickname I acquired in high school. 666 is because I'm no longer a Christian; I'm an atheist and a member of The Satanic Temple.

I was living in Atlanta when I joined this site, and I've been a gambler ever since I used to take the other kids lunch money playing cards starting back in elementary school.

I've always been a "Happy Go Lucky" kinda guy. I've had a charmed life, they say you make your own luck and yes it's true but sometimes....it just happens.I'm always positive, and just a happy person. Nothing really gets to me. People just seem to gravitate toward me, I'm not so much the life of the party but shit just happens to fall my way.

Years ago on my commute, listened to the radio.  On occasion the program host would get a (fake) call in from a yokel by the name of Lester, Lester Prairie. Then they would do a short skit on some topic or other. Lester Prairie also happens to be a small town west of Minneapolis.  The character/name stuck in my memory so started using it as a throw-away sign up name.

When I signed up I need to make something up. I didn't want it to be something at all related to me personally -- like some old nickname or something I do. It also had to be something that I would be able to remember without much trouble. I had someone thing on my desk that had a stamping on it. That is my handle here.

Several years ago I just got annoyed with some of the nonsense that was posted on the boards, wanted to knock some sense into a few lads, and thought about trying to elevate the discussion (yeah right).  

Take a look at The Satanic Temple's website. To us, Satan is not an actual being, but a literary figure who is symbolic of rebellion against tyranny. It's similar to Laveyan Satanism (Church of Satan), but we have some philosophical problems with The Satanic Bible. Instead, we have 7 basic tenets that we follow. Like I said, take a look at the website; it will give you a more in depth explanation than I can fit into a thread here.

Two are lies, one is the truth about my name:

1. My 1st girlfriend named my penis "Herb" and I named her vagina "Cat". So Herb-To-Cat - it's what I monger for.

2. When I first started my mongering career (decades ago) I had a cat named "Herb". So when I needed a name, I looked around and saw my cat. So Herb The Cat.

3. My first attempt (and my 2nd and 3rd) to smoke weed with my HS buddies were total fails. I coughed, almost puked and did not get high. They called me "Herb Toker Pussy" or "HTP" as a joke. I tweaked it for my online name to HerbTCat.

Played The Governor of Georgia in Parade, a musical based on Real Life story several years ago.  Toward the end of the production, The Governor courageously  commuted a Death Sentence, which led to riots and the eventual lynching of an innocent Jewish Man.  This led to the Founding of the Anti Defamation League, and unfortunately a resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan.  Sorry for the History Lesson.

I chose my name because that's my favorite position.  From the point in my life as a youngster when I matured from "girls, ick" to "girls, hmmm", I've always loved to admire a gorgeous ass.  From said favorite position, I get a lovely view while we're having fun.

….. a pseudonym for stage & screen actors in the 50's & 60's.  They used this name when they didn't want to use their real name for fear of degrading their actual stage name but needed to work for the paycheck.  I would have used George Spelvin on TER but it was already taken so modified it a bit for my use.

And of course the porn star name Georgina Spelvin of the classic The Devil in Miss Jones, and other films, was a play on this, too...

yes i realized after i first used my screen name it dawned on me people might be referring to ME being nevertoolarge  LOL        well trust me after talking to many girls there are sadly many guys who are wayyyyy too large  LOL ..  my personal assistant told me years ago she went out with a guy who unzipped his pants and  "unrolled a knockwurst"   she told him " i ain't housing that!"  LOL

Which apparently caused the use of that name to thereafter all into disfavor.

My handle was originally meant to be a throwaway.  That is, I planned on hobbying once, maybe twice, and forgetting about it.  So I picked something banal and uncreative.  Because hey, why bother, if you won't use it for very long.  After my first foray, I liked hobbying enough that I went back the second time, to a different provider.  And the third time.  And the fourth.  15 years later, I'm still here.
