I am a newby at the hobby scene (2 months).  When you read a providers profile and where it says "Porn Star: yes or no, does a yes mean that lady has been in porn movies?

TIA

Like mrfisher, there are no dumb questions here.  However, being in maybe one porn movie and being a star is, IMHO, a big difference.  Many girls seem to think, again my opinion, that if they do a porno they will attract more clients.  To me, one, or even a few pornos does not a star make.

A star is one who has some name recognition nationally.  There are probably millions of girls out there that have appeared in one or more pornos, but they are hardly in the 'star' category.  However, if they think they are a star, that's up to them.

I would not see a girl just because she claims to be a pornstar unless I had heard of her in mainstream porn.  I think they also feel like they can charged outrageously high rates if they are a 'pornstar', which I ain't gonna pay anyway.  I have been with enough providers that aren't pornstars, that I don't need to pay $1000 or more for an hour of their time, just because they have their face and other body parts on a tape or DVD.

Short answer is yes.

But you have to take into account what people may define what is a porn movie. Is it something produced and packaged and sold on vhs/dvd in stores or the internet? Is it something shot by some guy with a camera from his own POV and put up on a website?

I second the notion that there are no dumb questions.

I think that people inadvertently check the porn star box...really.  IMHO the definition of porn star is someone who has been in porn movies and has name recognition (one movie with a random person does not count).  I know people have different definitions of what a porn star is but that is mine.

"why can't I find 'other cities' on a map?"
"how many times has someone asked what FAQ stands for?"

etc. etc.

Well, thanks guys, that clears up one dumb Q coming from Hotlanta

... is that the FIRST reviewer entered YES in that particular field.  He could've done it inadvertently, he could be mistaken, or he could be correct.  Remember children, only the FIRST reviewer's data shows up on the provider's Profile Page (unless you're able to convince the TER folks of an error with a Problem Report).  Then the question comes into play, did the first reviewer enter "yes" b/c she's done one or two low-budget tapes?  Some would argue that does not equate to a "Porn Star".  Also, some people have clicked "yes" in this field b/c they thought it referred to whether she "put on an act" with her performance during their session.

So, this wasn't really a stupid question but it shows how stupid that field actually is on the ladies' Profile Page.  I.E.-- it should be ignored!
