I can already see his defense attorney claiming she was robbing him and he was defending himself when he pumped her full of holes. If his defense counsel uses the self defense argument the defamation of the victim's character is going to be a blood bath. I can only imagine the seedy low life image the defense is going to paint of the hobby as he portrays the victim as a ruthless, scum bag who preyed on innocent victims who were simply wishing to get a therapeutic massage.  If the budget allows, the defense will call to the stand an expert witnesses who will testify as to how the dark subculture of Internet prostitution destroys lives, families and society in general. Of course, the prosecution won't be able to use expert testimony to counter the defense's expert witness because doing so would legitimize to some extent prostitution. Don't you just love attorneys. Remember most of the shit birds in the House, Senate and yes the White House are attorneys.

BTW this is a nonpartisan response.

Regarding the New York Times article -

This situation implies that the police worked with computer security people. The cops are usually not knowledgeable enough with such technical matters.

There is something about Mr. Markov's face that seems suspect. To me it seems like a simmering anger. Even if the police didn't see anything obvious in his behavoir during the traffic stop in Walpole, there is an undercurrent of tension. His shape of head and hairstyle match the surveillance videos perfectly.

Like it or not, that is their job. If you were arrested for something, you would want the same treatment. That is the great thing about america, we can kill somebody, and make up any bullshitttt defense that is available. BUT we also have the jury system where 12 of your peers can sort out the bs from the truth. thats why we have a jury of your peers and not a judge. the jury system doesnt always work but its all we have.

we should appear as experts to testify how the hobby has saved marriages and sanity.

I think they will plead him insane.

Sadly, I think we are in for illumination - and not of the pure white light type, more of the expected "red light district" type.

Be prepared for the defense to say, had this lady not engaged in immoral tempting of innocent young men, she would not be dead.  And yup, I think that it is likely that the D will claim that he was only there to get a therapeutic massage and she tried to rob him.

Unless and until this hobby is decriminalized, this will continue.

To ALL providers, this is why I continually suggest to you that if you are the victim of any abuse (outside of sexy play) you should report it.  Why? Because this guy did not just wake up one morning and decide to to this.  He had seen a few ladies prior to the first episode.  He had even probably roughed up one (or more) ladies prior to his first murder.  and no one said anything.

even if you expose yourself to some extent, it is better to be exposed, than dead.

Ladies, some of you I truly feel as you are my friends... and some of you, my feelings are much deeper.... but ALL of you I would not wish you harm or worse.  please be very careful out there.
