I am funny about this... I get tested once a month. At times it is even more than that being as I get tattoos here and there and I worry about that as well.
I can't donate blood... My weight does not meet the minimum requirements. I guess by me you have to be 120lbs. They also do not like a donator that has tattoos. I would like to donate blood, for all of the good reasons but I also understand that someone in my position really shouldn't anyways.
This poll is dedicated to a client I stopped seeing because he insisted his clean STD screen from seven years ago should grant him BBFS with him. Me personally, I get tested for HIV,herpes, syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and Hep C every three months. I have had the hep B vaccine and the HPV vaccine. Is this common? How often do you go? I know someone who goes once a week, but she's high volume and a worrier.
i test every 3 to 4 weeks.
I had an S/O so I saw it as needed. Gives me peace of mind so I have no intentions of changing that even though the S/O is now history.
I would not say I am high-volume, but I definitely am a hypochondriac, so I go every one to two months. My doctor says there is no need to go this often and that coming every two to three months will suffice, yet I insist on visiting at my frequency.
I am just nervous that, although BBBJ is supposed to be low risk, I may get something. Personally, I would never want to spread anything to another. That's just wrong.
Lol BBBJ's freak me out too......I get so paranoid and freak out as soon as I get a sore throat.....and it turns out to just be a sore throat every time.
Every ninety days, sometimes every 45 days.
Every 3 months for me. I schedule my testing around when I pay my quarterly taxes -- makes it easy to remember!
I request "the works" -- HIV, s/c/g, hepatitis A, B, & C, herpes simplex 1 & 2. I've also had the HPV and Hep B vaccines.
It's appalling to me how few (in my experiences, anyway) clinics or doctors routinely test for hep and herpes. I've always had to ask for them to be included in my screenings.
No kidding. I had to insist on Hepatitis testing last time I went, they tried to talk me out of it, saying they've never seen a case in my area. Medical professionals at their finest lol.
I had one place ask me if I really wanted hepatitis screening too, because I'd been vaccinated against Hep B. I was like, "Um, I haven't been vaccinated against A and C so YES I WOULD like to be tested, THANKS."
WTF??
Let me guess-Planned Parenthood was the place that gave you problems?
Btw, I am also a world-class hyopchondriac & in 25 years of hobbying have NEVER contracted an STD.
I practice harm reduction by only doing cbj and NOT rimming.. (I am open to receiving, though it's admittedly not a favorite..) I don't do anal.
I get tested for HIV, herpes, syphillis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and Hep C several times a years. I have had the hep B vaccine. I am also an active blood donor etc.
Oh God I hate rimming. Plus it's risky. Though I've been offered-get this-an extra ten dollars for it-I politely declined lol. Not to mention the aftertaste.
its very clear and they will refuse you as a blood donor if they knew what you do for a living.
thats a big no no. its unsafe and they don't want anyone who plays here to donate blood.
... about lying right to the nurse's face! I have donated occasionally since I was legally old enough to do so and have only had unprotected sex with *ONE* person in my life! All donated blood is thuroughly TESTED long before being used for a possible transfusion...
I highly doubt that the person bleeding to death on a hospital bed, who desperately needs my blood type, will raise up their head and gasp "Get that away from me and let me die... I don't want the perfectly clean and life saving blood of a known WHORE!!" In fact, the Red Cross is always calling and harassing me to donate MORE...
We all live according to our own personal set of ethics. You are more than welcome to disagree with MINE!
...for some other apparently really common non-std type virus, which further makes my blood more desireable... I am forgeting the name of it...
I know they say that you are ineligible to donate blood if you exchange sex for money, however, there is nothing that says you are ineligible to donate blood if you have repeated sexual encounters with unknown persons for free - whether protected or not!
Statistically, someone who has sex with 5 partners unprotected is at a FAR GREATER RISK of contracting something than a person who has sex with 500 partners protected. The guidelines around denying sex workers' blood donations fails to realize that.
I'm pretty low volumes, on a busy week, maybe 6 or 7 clients for the week. I get tested for everything every three months.
And it Free.
Every time give blood they test me I don't know if it for every thing but I know it covers all the hard core stuff. I not good enought to give plasma.
... it is pretty practical for me. I might see an escort once every 2-3 months.
But -- yeah, if you are doing any level of volume to speak of, pretty soon you'd have track marks from needles used for drawing blood if you tested after every client. That would totally suck.
In practice, because some things take a while to develop the tell-tale antibodies, when I get tested after each provider, for some things I'm actually being tested for the one before her.
Frankly, I'm not sure what good testing does on the provider end. I mean, it isn't like she could show you the lab results with her real name on them. So the hobbyist is just taking the word of an anonymous woman. An anonymous woman who, according to LG's study, has already slept with over 800 unique men; and God only knows where those 800 men have been.
And even if she could show those results -- some providers here see 4-5 men a day, 5 days a week. At the end of three months, they've been through a couple of hundred men -- and, again, who knows where those men have been.
Yes, I am absolutely certain that completely trustworthy providers exist; and I believe these providers are among the best educated about safe sex practices and take substantial measures to protect themselves and their clients. But, even with all of that, the numbers and odds just plain don't look good.
I believe a responsible provider will pull herself off the market while being treated for an STD and so forth. But sometimes STDs are asymptomatic; so even the best-intended providers can be spreading something.
That's why I get tested after every visit.
So we should only test so we can show YOU our results... and if we aren't going to do that then "why bother"...??? Egads John! We *DO* have our own LIVES! *I* test because I want to make sure that I continue to be a HEALTHY human being! Did you READ any of my other posts in this thread..?? I am FAR *safer* in my practices than MOST people who actively post on these boards... both providers AND hobbyists... Take a look at the chart I posted above...
And then go out and shop for a full latex body suit... Maybe it will come with a cape and then we can call you "Safety-Man!!" You can have your own adult orientated comic book and fly around handing condoms to the masses...
As I noted, providers getting tested can and do get themselves treated, withdraw from the market during treatment, etc. Obviously, these are benefits that can only accrue if providers get tested. And, as you've noted, it would really suck to give a boyfriend an STD. (And it would really really suck if that happened and he didn't know about your occupation because he'd never trust you as far as he could throw you again.)
I know you are very safe. For that reason and others and the fact you are realistic, I kinda like you.
What I am saying is that a hobbyist should not rely on a woman's testing to keep him safe. For hobbyist safety, the fact that a lady got tested 3 months ago is meaningless when she has seen over a hundred men since.
new wart, or see a thick yellow goo in my underwear!!! I used to think burning urination might be a sign that I should go, but I just drink more beer and it goes away.
As a side note, your friend that goes every week needs to stop that. She'll bleed out in 3 months LOL. Besides, if she picks up certain things, (ie. Hep B or C, HIV, HPV) they won't show for six months anyway!
When active -hobby wise and with friends with benefits-- I usually get tested every 6 weeks. With a new girl friend (18 months long) I have not been really active, though I did see a provider a few months ago and got myself tested after that.
I am funny about this... I get tested once a month. At times it is even more than that being as I get tattoos here and there and I worry about that as well.

I don't weigh enough to donate blood...oh, you're making me hot, lol.
She's tested and a spinner! When can I see her?
LOL. I am not sure if dizzy is sexy. Care to give it a try? What would I be spinning on?
Little Phil... winks to you too.
