I've never spent much time on Opera- if memory serves right, it was either too slow for my liking or it crashed too much.
I've used both Firefox and Safari. My preference is for Firefox. I find it to be a little faster than Safari (some people disagree). Firefox is compatible with more websites. It is customizable with themes and extensions.
Another thing I've found on Firefox that I have not found with Safari (although it could be there and I just never figured it out) is a feature of the Google search toolbar. In FF, when I type in the beginning of a word, it drops down a list of possibilities that I could be trying to search for. (For example, when I type in "ob" as the beginning of a word, it suggests obama, oblivion, obesity, etc.) It also suggests different spellings of words if it thinks I've misspelled something. And since Google is an artificial extension of my brain & thought processes (seriously, I use it for EVERYTHING, especially the toolbar) this feature is extremely important to me. In fact, it's THE number one reason I switched back to FF.
