Colony collapse is a major threat to our agricultural system which depends on honeybees to pollenate our crops. So I got curious as to what happens, if the queen herself dies. AI said, "Bees create new queens through a process where worker bees select young larvae and feed them a special diet of royal jelly. This diet, rich in hormones and nutrients, triggers the larvae to develop into queens, rather than worker bees. The worker bees also construct larger, peanut-shaped queen cells to accommodate the growing queen larvae.". Then, I was curious as to how the colony itself was organized, and it's evident they have a great system for the males.
I asked Google Gemini a question about sexual differentiation in honeybees, and I pasted the answer here. . The Queen Bee: The queen is the mother of the colony and the only bee that can lay fertilized eggs, ensuring the continuation of the colony. . Worker Bees: These are all female and are responsible for tasks like foraging for nectar and pollen, building and maintaining the hive, and caring for the young. . Drones: Male bees whose sole purpose is to mate with the queen. They do not have stingers or the ability to collect food.

That was my assumption, too. Some of the worker bees take on the role of guard bees and defend the hive. As Gemini AI describes it, "Guard bees are female. All worker bees, including guard bees, are female. They are responsible for defending the hive, inspecting incoming bees, and alerting the colony to threats. Male bees, called drones, do not perform guard duties and have different roles within the hive."
But then they started giving equal pay to all workers, so now there are female worker bees as well as drones, which are the equivalent version of transgenders in the bee world.
For me, when I don't have a single client call before noon; the markets are literally flat; and there are goofy posts on TER that make the rest of us blink, roll our eyes, and wonder what is wrong with the world.
Better link http://thebfarm.com/blogs/news/queen-bees-vs-worker-bees-vs-drones-the-differences . . "Drone bees don’t do any work within the colony, and their life consists of eating and mating [i.e. fucking]. Because queens only need them once, they can’t feed themselves, and they have no stinger to protect the colony, the male drone bees live a short life reliant on the worker bees."
