Have you ever used your talents in this profession to help you close a deal in the other?

First, a personal observation .... and then a question/statement.

The personal observation regards real estate agents.  Having dealt with a number of the over the years, this is based on more than one experience.  The ranks of real estate agents, I believe, was fueld years ago when a large number of "at home" women/mothers decided they wanted something to do and real estate school was only a few weeks.  With the price of houses escalating rapidly with no decrease in commission rate, it only took selling a few houses to make reasonable money each year.  And so many of these people never understood true customer service.  Schedule a showing for 3-4pm and then show up at 5:15 without calling.

The analogy for me to day is that yesterday's real estate agent may well be today's escort .... in the following way. It's as if any female (ranging from homely to gorgeous) who needs a few bucks or a little excitement puts herself out there without truly understanding customer service and the people who are paying her for her companionship.  Would you go to a counter at Bloomingdale's where the sales associate tells  you she just needs to finish with her current customer and she'll be there in a minute only to leave you standing for an hour .... or two?

The question is:  Has anyone else discerned a growing trend toward escorts being insensitive to their clients?  I'm not talking about the scam or rip-off artists here.  I'm talking about those that just don't show up, come late with out calling, show up with their period and say they can't do anything but expect to be paid anyway, etc.

I'm not trying to generalize or say that most escorts are like that but I have noticed, both from personal experience and reading a lot of the the boards, that this seems to be happening more these days.

Unfortunately or perhaps it has always been the way of life, you shouldn't expect every newbie SP to start off as an experienced escort. No matter how much experience they had as a civilian, be it a fling with a bf or a half a dozen one niters, this hobby requires a certain amount of "guts" to play the game successfully. Those who think that they can walk in and grab a stash of cash because of their hot looks will be very sorry when the phone stops ringing because their service is less than par. Of course there are some newbies who understand the scarifices that they need to make personally and charge ahead to make their biz work. It is a hit or miss prosition for the hobbyist. Perhaps the value of this board and others does lend some value. Just my two centavos.

I'm both, and pretty good at customer service in my both my professions.  At least that's what they tell me.  (grin)

No, I haven't.  I wouldn't want my professionlism tarnished by doing the mattress mambo with a client.  But I'd take a referral from a client in a heartbeat.

Kara Mia,

Truthfully, assuming both jobs can give you equal income, which one do you really love the most?

I'm still pretty new in real estate so the money is not equal to escorting.  But I can honestly say that escorting is my favorite.  Even a bad appointment is over in an hour or two.  Bad clients are with you for several months sometimes.  Not to mention the fact that it satisfies certain cravings that I have.

What a great cover. Advertise as a real estate agent, make an appointment to see the house, and hide the sausage during the showing. I guess to be safe you would have to get a license to make it legit.

That means, On The Other Hand, just in case anyone was wondering... :)

Competition is good for business. If you had a monopoly situation with only a few escorts available they could a) charge WHATEVER they wanted, and b) treat you however they wanted.  I mean it's like me with my electric company. I feel like they suck. Their customer service sucks. My power goes out all the frickin' time. But they are IT... there is no one else! So I have to keep giving them my money :(

The other way I see this as being a good thing (more ladies in the 'biz, having it easier to do these days with the 'net), is that ladies like me... who may not look like your hustler centerfold but who do this BY CHOICE (vs. having no other options) because we truly enjoy it... and DO have a brain in our heads... I think more and more ladies like me are popping up.

I think that both of these facets are GOOD for hobbyists, not bad. Yes there are more ladies... but if a lady doesn't measure up to your personal desires, you also have every opportunity to choose someone else.  Not to mention the fact that pre-'Net, boards like this one where you could have a reasonable idea of what to expect for your hard earned $$$ were unheard of... it was, take your chances with a number in the paper, agencies in the yellow pages, or the street!

Isn't this better??? :)

It's sad but true...so many ladies out there are falling into this category.

I'm seeing this from varying levels. Some are like this to a great extend with bad attitudes, my way or the highway, get in get out, etc.. and some are like this to lesser extends, nice enough but very mechanical, get dressed way before the hour is up, etc.. Funny part is that they almost all advertise as GFE when very, very few of them actually come close.  The GFE term when used in advertising carries little weight anymore (to me anyway).

Sadly, I'd say it's the exception not the norm to find a lady that makes you feel like she appreciates your business. Maybe the ladies get so many calls they could care less about the individual customer and don't need our repeat business, maybe they don't really like the profession and it's just a means of support,  or it's a combination of many things.

But the sad truth is I had to answer a strong "yes" to your question!

Thanks for the feedback.  It's nice to know that I'm not totally crazy or out of sync with the rest of the world.  If this trend continues, I may have to start having sex with my wife again.  Argh!!!

I too have extensive experience in both worlds. My experience has been that part timers or semi-pros actually provide better, more attentive service than an old school veteran.

A highly competitive market and customer greed weed out the lazy and incompetent very quickly. An unsophisticated consumer or personal friend of a novice part time real estate agent might give them a listing but when it comes right down to it everybody wants maximum service. A lazy provider might get lucky once or twice but by then they either learn that they must go the extra mile or they are out of business quickly.

Anyone ever notice how real estate agents, especially the ladies, seem to always have their photo (and a nice one) on their business cards, billboards and bus stop ads?

Makes you wonder what else they may be up to.  Of course, I'm just projecting again...

Actually, guys do it too.  I used to work in real estate advertising many years ago.  In RE, family law, and some other competitive professions, the buyer's choice of professional is based on a sort of "warm fuzzy" process.  Your picture pre-positions you with the potential customer as being more personal.

This creates a kind of branding similar to a company's logo.
