Often, when I see a beautiful woman, I don't just want to have sex with her.  I also want to worship her and "disconnect" whatever I do for her from what she would do for me by giving to her without any thought of what I might get back, even though I realize that such unilateralness isn't stable.  Maybe what I want most could be called "mutual unilateral generosity," which is significantly different, spiritually, from the business transaction that normally occurs.  Am I nuts or have I just described the difference between love and trading?

The taking turns in unilateral worshiping of the other can be a very helpful dynamic in a relationship. The tricky part is when there is a conflict regarding both person's wanting, needing to be worshiped at the same time. A couple's ability to negotiate taking turns shows a great deal of personal maturity. After all, true worship is an ecstatic state, and who doesn't want to be in that.
