Keep an eye on your track pad..
There is a defect in the batteries in these things.
They swell, and eventually go super nova. (Rupture. Ruining your computer)
The way to tell if you have a defective battery is to feel the edge of the track pad..
Slide your finger around the edge. It should be evenly recessed by a fraction of an inch all the way around.
If it is flush, or raised above the frame of the laptop you have a problem.
If it is seated unevenly you may have a problem. Mine is raised on the bottom right edge the most.
This is the result of a swelling battery.
Mak an appointment with the Genius desk at you local Apple store just to be sure.
It should be free to replace the battery. I have an appointment on Saturday.
I'll let you know.
Happy hobby everyone, and be safe.

I'm a PC/Galaxy III S guy myself, but I don't find it funny lots of people use Apple products.  You pay a premium for them but they are beautifully designed and easy to use.  Personally, I find the whole Mac vs. PC thing tiresome.

run a ton of multi-track recording software. PC's just don't do the trick for the stuff I need to use. All my pro musician friends use them. They're great for that!

I don't understand why any guy who does this wouldn't want a Mac.
Very hard to hack compared to PC.
Nothing can go into my hard drive/RAM without my password.
You can't even turn it on without it.
I know ways around a PC password. This thing is much harder to fool.
I have had almost zero pop up ad's. I know PC users get spams. i don't need to download spyware protection or anything like that. It's built in.
Every once in a while. Something gets through. Guess what? The next day they send everyone an update.
My phone, and computer sync flawlessly with info, email, and music.
All I have to do is walk into my house.
Multiple Email adresses? No prob. It put's them into one Cloud.
I can purchase a song through my phone, and it is automatically in my computer.
You can do this PC. Yes. But it is a pain in the ass.
This system reduces the stupid programing/set up time.
It just works

Old news very old news.

Apple replaced those batteries two years ago. You just didn’t get the memo, that’s all.

If you happen to have one, go to apple site and got to support and type in Battery Replacement in search

as Apple is playing game with firmware that cause the battery to run hot as well as your motherboard.  If you have recently run the firmware update for Mountain Lion OS, then there's a good chance that your Macbook pro would have this problem.  This happen to my 2009 MBP as well as a couple of friends 2010 MBP.  Of course those stupid "genius" is of no help and wanted me to pay over 300 to replace the mother board...This seem to be a known issue if you google it "overhead Macbook Pro".  Apple is doing this to force people to upgrade their laptop.  I'm not falling for it as I will never support a company that would kill good working laptop with bad firmware updates...Never will I buy another product from APPLE my ASS!!!

I run my MacBook pro 24 hrs a day and my fan doesn’t even go on!

Some people should not buy a Mac, a well designed product. Stick to the PC/Laptop so you can hear the sound of a F16 taking off from an air craft carrier 24 hrs a day.

By the way I am running the latest Firmware, no problems. The most recent firmware fix has nothing to do with the battery. Some people get all kinds problems with every product like Mercedes, Bentley, BMW and what not. It is because they are just not used to well engineered products, like Apple products

Well engineer my ASS!!!. When I was in the Store, there were 3 other folks complaining the same thing.  One guy is desperate to recover data from his harddrive.  I rather buy PC now as it has all the same components as you pricey MBP.  What do you get for paying a premium laptop, wooopy..a stupid Apple logo made from parts like any other computers.  Go donate your $$$ to apple all you want.  As well engineer product like you mention BMW, Mercedes...wonder why they always have issues after their warranty just like Apples...hmmm and I wonder why people lease these cars instead of buying them out right, it's because it has more chance to break after their warranty ends...
